Crysis in winxp using mod off gamecopy world. I've got everything on very high except shaders, which is on high at a res of 1280x1024 x2aa and get 23 min fps.
25fps withh aa off. It's reasonably smooth most of the time. Anyone know how much better a gtx 9800+/250 is at the same res, as I'm thinking of getting one. What fps with the same settings do you get?
You are using quad core 6600 and a higher video card 8800 gts with 640 mb, what a waste of money? Well actually we have the same performance and graphic quality on 1024x768 with my old obsolete pc( ATLON 3000+, 512 mb 8600 gt vcard, and a 5 year warranty 500 gig hard disk. 2 gig is my memory. Do you want proof?
no need, i actually try this game on all high settings at 1024x768 (no lags no delays but with great graphics and game experience) with a settings as low at atlon 3000+ with 8600 gt , 2 gig system ram and a 500 gig hdisk, okey? Even thought this is an obsolete pc but runs just what you see on the clip. Do you want evidence? The pc is in my garage, but I still play on all high settings.
That was back when Crysis hadn't released any patches to increase FPS, also when NVIDIA drivers ran like crap on Crysis. I currently have a GTX 260 and a 22" monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050, running on max settings @ 1680x1050 w/ playable FPS, no problem.
I do agree on that, but what i try is only 1064x768, this is what my old monitor can support, it runs great just like the clip above with my obsolete pc specs (atlon 3000+, 4 pc400 512 mb system ram, 8600 gt 512 mb vram and a 500 gig hard disk. A price that is just only little.
Would you see a decent increase in performance? Yes. Do I personally believe going from an 8800 GT to a HD 4850 is worth it? Not overly. You'll definitely see higher a FPS, but it will vary from game to game. If you are going to get a new video card, at least look at something like an overclocked GTX 260 or an HD 4870. Stock clocked GTX 260's for $220 after rebates, and you can get extremely overclocked GTX 260's for ~$270 after rebates. Diamond has an overclocked HD 4870 for $260 after rebates.
I personally think you should wait to either get more money to pay for a better video card, or just wait for the prices to go down in general. I've come to see that Europe and South America and basically the rest of the world in general have higher prices on hardware compared to the USA and seem to be a few months behind in price cuts. I know how you feel wanting more FPS, seeing how I've been though 4 video cards in 2 years. I went from an FX 5600 Ultra, to 7600 GT, to an 8800 GTS to a GTX 260.
hmm, you have a lot of money, me from a damage 6600, i buy a new 8600 gt and put on a msi mboard with a atlon 3000+ and a 2 gig system pc400 ram runs great on crysis (all high settings) at 1024x768 (my old monitor can only support this one)
Well, NVIDIA cards generally do better on Crysis compared to all the ATI cards, but the HD 4850 does better on Crysis than my 8800 GTS did (I had a GTX 260 now). Also, I was running on older drivers and Crysis v1.1 back when I made this, so with v1.2 and new drivers, I probably could of ran on 1280x1024 fine with my 8800 GTS. With updated catalyst drivers, and the v1.2 update for Crysis, an HD 4850 should be more than enough.
It depends on which 8800 GTS we are talking about. There are 3 different models, 2 use the G80 core and one uses the G92. The G92 is a shrunken down G80 with higher clocks, but the G80 on the 8800 GTS's have some of the shaders laser cut from them. The GTS with the G92 is the 512mb model, in which case no, the 8800 GTS 640mb (G80) is NOT faster than the 8800 GTS 512mb (G92). I don't use the 8800 GTS anymore however, I got a GTX 260 now.
I can run very high settings but I get about 22 FPS average but on high settings I get 28-30 FPS average in the Crysis benchmark. Very smooth for me too.
Depends on what game. The only games that I get low FPS on with AA on is Crysis and UT3. I can run every other game with good FPS with 2x and 4x AA, and some games even more.
i think there is somethin wrong/weird going on in my comp. it doesnt matter what resolution i have, its still the same fps, i did a test and it doesnt change with AA either, so now im at 1024x768 res. and 4x AA, and it looks better than 1280x1024, and i noticed that when u lower your resoltion, the framerates get more stable (less lags).
btw im running on AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition Standard and 1.5 GB RAM. Also Paradise Lost runs almost better than the others levels.
processor bottleneck, everything caps off at your max CPU potential, so overclock, or get a new CPU/mobo. 1.5 GB of ram is fine for crysis at high settings.
lol aim

15-20 FPS (because of FRAPS), in a game I had only played for about 2 hours at that time, "lol" all you want.

On 1280x1024 i can now get it to 35-45 fps sometimes peeking at 60 with all settings high except shaders at medium, 0xaa. Shaders reduce the most fps

some issues with aiming...huh? ;-) anyway... nice video tough. shows what can do a q6600 and 8800. nice
serraine 4 years ago
Yeah, it's kind of hard to aim and jump when it's recording at 20-25 FPS. Normally I get an average of 40 FPS but FRAPS really lags things up.
