  • I don't get why Forbidden Colours was not a duet by Sakamoto & Bowie... it would have been just perfect if they had performed together!

  • @TheNewYork2LA The vocal version is a duet between Sakamoto and his frequent collaborator David Sylvian, another great baritone voice.

  • @onthe1drop I know that!! I just said that I wished the films 2 leads collaborated instead, since they were both musicians and it would have been the perfect duet for this film :)

  • Simply one of the most incredible movies ever produced. Watching this movie is like entering a dream like state and you can not hit the pause button, you are "there" for the roller coaster ride of a life time. I have not seen another movie like it since. Kudos.

  • two handsome guys one eastern and one western....great movie great song

  • This is the only adulatory video that outdoes my lea thompson videos respect.

  • @BEANYGIANT1 Unlucky.

  • @BEANYGIANT1: You really missed out on something..

  • This is so emotional and beautiful, great film always makes me cry at the ending

  • @XxBOOSHGIRLxX I know that bit where Sargent Hara says Merry Christmas MR Lawrence always has me in tears

  • @upfrontbear74 yeah it's so sad the 2 scenes where Jack dies and when Lawrence visits Hara always gets to me

  • Mr Lawrence is enduring and receiving EVERY blow - a little bit like Jesus. Merry Chistmas, Mr Lawrence.

  • Yes, I love Bowie and Sakamoto too, however, what splendid acting by Tom Conti 0:10 - 0:14.

  • I love this movie, Bowie is beautiful it would be impossible for any man or woman not to fall in love with him.

  • Ryuichi Sakamoto was frighteningly handsome when he was younger.

  • 0:50 Bowie twitch

  • I miss magic like this.

  • Do anybody knows exactly the name of this song?

  • @bloodygodlike

    Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence

  • @bloodygodlike The name of the song is Forbidden Colours, but during the film this song comes by in different variations.

  • he looks fiiiine in this film haha :D

  • I have seen the movie for the first time recently, really a very great and moving film. Of course, Bowie was the reason why I have watched it... what should I say....

  • @ezaube1030 Nothing.

  • I have another question about the movie. Toward the beginning when Jack is being sentenced to a firing squad death, six men fire guns at him. After they fire Jack is obviously in pain- like the way he says, "That was a good one."- but you don't see any visible wounds...? At first I thought they missed him altogether and wondered how six trained men could miss but then I realized Jack was hurt but you just can't see where he was shot... Can anyone help clear this up for me?

  • @LadyBowie1119 The Japanese riflemen had blanks. It was a cruel joke played upon Jack. Very common practise in a lot of firing squad scenarios. Jack wasn't hurt, but the anticipation of being shot and killed creates an intense panic that most people would feel - and like a great soldier he can understand the bizarre joke- hence, "that's a good one."

  • @AnOldEcho

Then why did Jack need to be treated in the camp? If he wasn't shot he wouldn't have needed to be in the infirmary. The doctor makes him sleep and Yonoi keeps saying, "Heal him quickly."

  • @LadyBowie1119 Because just prior to being strung up he was beaten very badly by the Commandant and the soldiers, remember? He was hit repeatedly by a stick! Watch the film. "Can you guess what I am thinking?" "I think so , can you?" Then WHACK WHACK WHACK - frign idiot just watch the film.

  • @AnOldEcho

Oh yeah! I remember that part. I didn't realize that was why he needed to be treated.

  • @LadyBowie1119 Sorry, I was rude, all the best.

  • When I watched this I thought of some things...

In Jack's flashbacks why does he get older, from the 12yr old to David playing Jack but Jack's brother stays a little kid? And is Jack's meeting with his brother in his mind as he's buried in sand supposed to be Jack making up with his brother because he knows he's going to die?

  • @LadyBowie1119 Splendid questions. Yes, Jack's remorse and guilt is allieviated when he is buried to his neck and "apologises" to his brother. It is his repentance to the betrayal he felt. Jack's brother doesn't appear older because that, one assumes, is how he remembers his brother. - nad, of course, for practical reasons - the boy sings beautifully.

  • @TheOldEchoes The scene in the cell is probably out of context - he was beaten after the firing squad.

  • I don't care if it spoils the ending of the movie as I haven't seen it yet (still trying to find it somewhere) but I have to know: Does David's character die?

  • @LadyBowie1119

He commits...I forget the name, but he kisses Sakamoto and is sentenced to death...yada yada. Gets buried in sand up to his head and is left there to die. Did you try all the links to the movie? It worked fine for me. Anyways hope you get to watch it!

  • @SweetenThekitty96

Aww! That's sad. Yes, I did find it. A friend got it for me. I hate how he was beaten- I didn't like that. I REALLY dislike the ending- since he died... And how he didn't get to reconcile his problems with his brother... So sad. But a very good movie.

  • @LadyBowie1119

It's really sad, and glad you enjoyed it, it was pretty good. Now watch the Man Who Fell to Earth, it's sad too, but you should like it. That one is actually on youtube.

  • @SweetenThekitty96

Thanks for the suggestion but I already have. I found it on youtube already and got it on DVD. I LOVE IT!!!

  • @LadyBowie1119

Have you found out where to watch him on broadway as The Elephant Man?

  • @SweetenThekitty96

No! I've found clips of him here on YouTube but haven't found the whole play! I REALLY want to see it though!

  • @LadyBowie1119

Yeah, I've seen those clips too! I'm so upset I can't find it! Is "Just A Gigolo" anywhere? Haha sorry for all the questions.

  • @SweetenThekitty96

Haha. It's okay. I don't mind questions. Yes. It is. One person has parts 1 and 2 but then didn't finish but then someone else uploaded parts 3 to the end.

  • Can someone PLEASE tell me where I can find this WHOLE MOVIE!? I've looked EVERYWHERE and can't find it!

  • @LadyBowie1119 watch it on you tube, or you could buy it of amazon ;)

  • @Ellathegreatable

I've looked here on YouTube and can't find ANY part of it except the kiss scene. I guess that one is really famous or popular or something... Anyway, thank you for your help...

  • @LadyBowie1119 Oh sorry, I watched it on here, must have been taken off :/

  • @LadyBowie1119 Ezydvd.com.au has it for $24.97 (AUD) - all the best.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tantrumzero Yes, it is. Now there's a positive.

  • @Tantrumzero

It always makes me cry... Beautiful music and the fact that David dies in the end...

  • we are all Brothers who should love and care for each other always , so gentle it's like shshsh you'll wake the baby.

  • Only, Jack's pain, betrayal concerns his brother - instead of making it psuedo-homo - perhaps you should have at least incorporated Celier's brother - not one image of him.

  • @parksy010101 There's nothing 'pseudo'-homo abt it- it's real.

Yonoi's attraction to Celliers is the driving force behind this movie.

Though it wasn't recipocrated by Celliers, whom one gets the impression he's too remote or f"ar away " for something banal as romantic feelings toward anyone, male or female.

  • Comment removed

  • @strawberrypanic81 Well, they didn't have a relationship like the "Korean" guard and the Dutch soldier - hence, if it isn't acknowledged by Celliers it is obviously pseudo because one protagonist is deluded. Read the book, it may enlighten you!

  • @TheOldEchoes : LOL...Iok,ok, you made it very clear...that my grandma wasn't the only one to nitpick after hitting menopause. :p

If you care to read my comments carefully sir / mdm, I've alrd said very clearly in plain English ...even though it's nothing like the situation bet. the Dutchman & Korean guard, you can't deny- YONOI WAS DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH CELLIERS.If you have had any sense of discernment it will be obvious to you..in the movie,

And yes, I've read the book...

  • @TheOldEchoes You have yr opinion it's pseudo-homo...that;s yr version of tinterpretion. Fine. But the director, actors, and even the book's author himself have said otherwise...I'm not making up stories; read their interviews. So of course, I prefer authenticity. And the horse's mouth. ;-)

  • @strawberrypanic81 That is a completely different issue - we are talking about the actual film. All the best.

  • @TheOldEchoes Same to you. Isn't democracy wonderful? :-)

    Cheers.

  • Beautifully edited. Lovely sound. Sincere thanks,

  • love bowie's eyes !!!

  • There is noting you can do for the one who needs help.

  • @Tantrumzero hey, wait... sure.

  • @parksy010101 And what would that be?

  • @Tantrumzero Depends on the situation.

  • @parksy010101 There is nothining you can do for the one that needs help.

  • @Tantrumzero

just being can sometimes make a special difference and at all cost's one should never ever turn our backs on hope that and prayer can save a life

  • @Tantrumzero Well, that is very broad.

  • @Tantrumzero Do you need help?

  • @Tantrumzero Yes there is.

  • @Tantrumzero I can help.

  • @parksy010101

this ain't no chat room , clown

he doesn't need you he needs us xx

  • Where did you get this good footage?

  • Personally I think there's more chemistry between David & Ryuichi in their roles as Celliers & Yonoi respectively than the Heath & Jake character in BBM. Then again maybe it's just me. :p

  • The music is obviously a variation on the main theme, but where is it from? I think it is just as beautiful if not more than the original!

  • They are both beautiful, beautiful, men. :-)

  • Thank's a lot for your sweet comments!!

  • But Sakamoto is better.

  • @MorkovkaMasha

Nope, sorry, Bowie beats any guy, anywhere, any day...

  • Oh how romantic:) Both of them are very nice!

  • what's the name of song? it's very nice song

  • i suppose is taken from the OST, composed, btw, by sakamoto

  • Beautiful. The music, the men, the editing... really nice. AND I've never heard that version of the music before so thank you.

  • I LOVE IT!!

    THANK YOU!
