Honestly, leave instruments to people. you can make the robot play this a million times and it'll be exactly the same every time. But if you get a person to play it, they can give it a different meaning each time. I understand that advancements in technology but I'm not getting a $10,000/year education to be beat out by a freaking robot.

It's cool, but it will never replace human players. Technically, it plays perfectly, but that's the problem: it's too mechanical. People expect to be able to feel and hear some emotion when someone plays an instrument.

The other thing besides the buzzing of the lips that you need to remember is sticcoto of the notes that the robot is doing people would be doing with their tongue. The question is then how did they get a robot to do the same thing? I was really impressed as someone else mentioned I thought it would only play a scale or something but that was really cool.

you're all just saying you can't replicate human love in music because you don't want to believe that robots can play better than we can. which they can. music is a force of nature, but humans defined it into a form of math and geometry, and those are things that robots excel at. technical playing is something we will never be able to do better than robots will in even a few short years. for speed, precision, and getting a perfect tone, robots will always win.

Yeah dude, a robot may be able to PLAY music, but its all programming and fine toned movements. A) It can't do that without a human programmer and B) Even if it could suddenly play by analyzing the score, it can't create music, AND THAT is what will always separate man and machine. This is amazing. They really did a good job trying to put the human element into the the playing, but it sounds to perfect to sound human. They have the frasing, dynamics and intonation down, but the human love that is put into every note just cannot be replicated by a robot.

im positive the programmed the robot to follow what a human played, or listen to how a human did it and just mimicked some traits. either way, its not like the robot thought of the song by itself. thats why it has that change of dynamics that suencraig1 said.
