  • I remember when I posted this very clip to SOULTRAINFANS back in the early 2000s. Glad to see it still has legs!

    -NickFRESH from SOULTRAINFANS

  • Wow! sounds just like the recording flawless and Don Corneilous gave up the mic lol !

  • damn does he have a high pitched voice !

  • Speechless! love him!

  • Goosebumps O_o El's voice is IMPECCABLE! Even without music. <3 :)

  • I love you El...

  • Thanks for sharing this video. They sound great and El really put a lot of these artists to shame with this acapella.

  • And this is why I enjoy a capella so much. Nothing like raw vocals.

  • Natural talent!! The Debarge family needs to be inducted into the Hall of Fame immediately!! And then, like Michael was, El needs to be inducted by himself also!!

  • Don Cornelius' face at 0:12 says it all. He's like, "Fine and can sing ? Wow"

  • Now this is what you call talent! Their vocals are ahead of their years and know how to harmonize. It's saddens me they didn't get the respect they deserve. I pray that they can reunite again, after they deal with their personal problems. They are R&B/Soul legends!

  • Wow never ever seen this. Great post!

  • El smashed it!!! WTH was the deal with Soul Train not letting the performers sing??? They have had ALL THE GREATS on their show and let them get away without singing live. They could have captured the greatest performaces ever. I don't blame El & DeBarge for wanting to show their talents. SMH at Soul Train, idiots

  • @pCOCKPRO11 Me neither. That's the business of 'Soul Train.' But, DeBarge thought outside of the box and I'm amazed by the acapella. That's called talent!

  • @pCOCKPRO11 While I do agree to a certain degree, it was cheaper to go the lip-synching route. Some artists did sing live to track. Patti Labelle is one example. She only lip-synced once on the show (season 13 (83/84 - same season as this DeBarge appearance), when she and Bobby Womack did their two duets). I'm still appreciative of the non-live performances and Soul Train in general. what if we didn't have it? especially in the 70s and 80s? scary thought for me.

  • Decades of classic soul from El . WOW! Thank you Jesus for such simple blessings as the "words that are coming from his mouth!" :)

  • Wow...Amazing..

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

  • You're welcome guys! I got the video from another awesome DeBarge fan who gave me to permission to post it.

  • deadsecretary, I really, really want to thank you for posting this!! I've NEVER seen this before and I just LOVE it!!

  • so sick! Thanx
