  • Hi LE55ONS, replaced my broken screen as in video, but how easy is it to damage the LCD in the process? The LCD which was working before no longer works; tried plugging and unplugging the screen to no avail. Have I stuffed it? Thanks

  • @kentsation I've heard of this problem before and it turned out to be a faulty digitizer which was causing a short circuit, try turning it on without the touch screen plugged in, if the screen then works you've found your problem. It seems like there's quite a few faulty digitizers floating around the world...

  • @LE55ONS , Nah no go. The LCD is well and truly karked. Thanks anyway. I don't think I'll put any more money into fixing the phone now though; I've got a spare one I can use for now and in this day and age of smartphones, they're so cheap and plentiful I'll get a brand new one when the time is right. I'll look forward to your disassembly video of that phone in the future, whatever that may be. Cheers

  • Subscribed your awesome thank you for all the advice

  • Hello,i have a nokia n8 and some of the touch screen parts wont react , should i change my touchscreen or what ?

  • @funnyvidzs Yes that will fix it, make sure you buy a good quality one. If you read through all the comments you'll see some people had problems with low quality touch screens. Make sure you buy one with the metal frame

  • @LE55ONS Could you please suggest me one? From UK :) I do not want to pay in my country for the fix because they ask for like 50 pounds to fix a fking touch screen its not worth it

  • @funnyvidzs Have a look on Google for 'nokia n8 digitizer' then click the shopping link. The higher prices (£20 to £30) are probably original Nokia ones, when it gets lower than £15 it might be a compatible or a genuine without the frame/bezel. I hope this helps

  • Thanks for the tutorial, it worked perfectly!! THANKS!!

  • Nokia N8 digitizer with frame on ebay - look for "Touch-Screen-Glass-Digitizer-Frame-Nokia-N8-Blue"

  • hi sir. where do we actually get these spare parts???? i need to change my girl friend's mother board and panel. where can i buy them...... pls respond asap.... thanks....

  • @0123456789victory depends on where you live, try using Google or a eBay

  • @0123456789victory depends on where you live, try using Google or a eBay

  • hello friend am from Brazil! how do I separate the touch screen frame?

thanks your videos are very good!

  • @kelvin88723229 be very careful and use very hot air, its very difficult and you will probably break the glass during removal. Put sticky tape on both sides to stop the glass from going everywhere

  • @LE55ONS ok and to insert the new glass what should I do?

    thanks!

  • @kelvin88723229 I used superglue to fix my new screen in the old frame, its seem to have done a good job..

  • Thanks for the lesson video, great stuff !

  • @LE55ONS thanks for your interest. I contacted the dealer and sended back the touchscreen to check it. Yesterday they sent me a mail saying that they send me a new screen. Notify you if this goes well.

  • @perrriko Hi, finally I received other screen. I tested it yesterday and... it works fine.

There's only one thing. It seems to have less sensibility in the lower side of the screen. Could it be normal or is it possible to set it up? Thanks for everithing.

  • @perrriko everything

  • @perrriko I'm glad it was a touch screen problem and not the phone. If its less sensitive I would suspect a low quality screen. I know it can be quite hard to find good quality ones as the market is flooded with low cost compatibles. Its a shame original Nokia parts are so expensive..

  • @LE55ONS Yeah, but they sell it as an original one. 32€ + taxes.

  • Hi, first of all thanks for the fully explained and detailed video. I was wondering about one thing though : I had a T5 and T6 delivered when I bought my screen but unfortunately I couldn't manage to unscrew the two screws just after having removed the battery. I think the screws are damaged and I will probably have to change them but do you have a technique to bring them out ?

  • @DJBreakdownification The ones they supply with the screen are quite low quality so first I would try using a high quality Torx screwdriver, if that doesn't work then you need to drill the heads off and use new screws. The new ones don't need to be torx heads, so your local hardware store might be able to match the size and thread with Philips heads

  • @LE55ONS Ok, thanks I'll try that. I might just drill the head and replace them, will be faster and less expensive.

  • Follow the instructions given and hey presto!!! miles easier than the N96 too! however the T5 tool is a little too big, you must ensure you have it 'square on" before screwing!

  • VERY EASY

  • Forget it. the company I ordered the screen from sent a T-6. wtf

  • @Nuftetuft I think they used both sizes during production so you were a bit unlucky

  • @LE55ONS

Doesn't matter.. Ordered from the US (Im living in Norway), waited long for my parts, and I only got the digitizer touch screen, not the LCD itself.. damnit

  • The T5 screwdriver doesnt fit at all... too big :(

  • Thanks for the video. Replaced the digitiser on my N8 and everything works fine. (A nice hot hair dryer got the digitiser away from the frame. - You just need to know someone who has hair!)

  • Thanks for this vid. I followed all the steps and the phone works. But when I start it the touch screen didn't seem to work. I restarted it several times and the same. I've reset it waiting 10 seconds pushing the on button and also starting it pushing at the same time volume -, photo and menu button and when it starts again I have the same problem. I'ts not touch sensitive. Can I do something else? Thanks for the suggestions.

  • @perrriko If you are 100% certain the small touchscreen connector is fully plugged in, I would suspect a faulty touchscreen, if you read down through all the comments you'll see a couple of people have had the same problem..

  • @LE55ONS Thanks for the answer.

  • @perrriko Any luck?

  • @LE55ONS but when I change the cover of my n8, will the screen still stick to the frame of the touchscreen?

  • @RmpgStudio You need to buy the frame with the touchscreen included. Or you could buy a new touchscreen and glue it into the new frame, as its very hard to remove the original digitizer without breaking it..

  • @LE55ONS yes I am gonna buy the full cover. So the sticky side is on the touchscreen not on the display right?

    thanks btw.

  • @RmpgStudio Yes that's correct, if its new there should be double sided tape already in place with a protective cover you can peel off..

  • nice and easy ;))

  • @LE55ONS i think it might should be situatet behind the speakers gab. Maybe i'll try to repkace it tomorrow. Thanks for your request, anyway ;-)

  • Thanks a lot! I still got some kind of little silicon scrap with an oval whole inside, left after reassembling... o.O

But it works great, anyway! So, who cares... XD

  • @Marqus65 Have a look at the full disassembly video and you should be able to see where it goes, I think it might be for the front camera or the proximity sensor..

  • Hi, useful vid, thanks. Can u tell me how to disable the constant light that appears when taking a video. Nokia say it is not poss as it is a security feature that prevents a subject being filmed in secret? My grand children just pose when they see the light and I dont want this. Please help.

  • @ti4og I didn't know about a light coming on, you could always put some blue-tack over the light..

  • damn cheers bro u r awsome man

  • Mahn u are fucking awesome...

  • Brilliant.

  • thanks a lot man !

  • G'day mate! I wish you had a buisness in Sydney,Australia. This Asian fuc*stick made me N8 worse. If you get a chance to repair another N8,could you post a video on how to replace the headphone jack please. The other problems I have with my N8 since it returned from repair, the touch isn't as sensitive as before and the chrome frame around the touchscreen is partially loose.Thanx mate you sir are just TOO GOOD!

  • @tev1988 G'day from the UK. I've had a look at the headphone jack and its quite a hard job to do. You need to use very hot air to melt the solder connections. I recommend leaving that to a skilled technician. As for the screen it might be missing the small silver clips each side, that might also explain the sensitivity problem as the clips earth the screen to the case. Try holding one finger on the edge of the touch screen frame, if you find its more sensitive then you've found the problem..

  • @LE55ONS Thanks heaps LE55ONS.Thanks heaps mate.I really do appreciate it.50million stars out of 50million stars!

  • I want to change the top bottom and back casing of my N8 :) (just for some cosmetic reason scratches/bumps etc) I want to change it all because i've decided to change the colour (just for fun).

Is it possible to do a guide for that? because if anyone can do it you can xx

  • @DipsyMum29 Thanks for the compliment, yes I've sort of already made a guide. Just follow the 'full disassembly and reassembly' video using your new parts. The only hard part is swapping the GSM antenna over to the new bottom, but if you follow my guide you should be fine. Make sure you buy a touchscreen frame that includes the touchscreeen as your unlikely to be able to remove the glass without breaking it.

Let us know how you get on. Happy Holidays :-)

  • @LE55ONS thanks dude it really helped me.but i also want to change my n8 body colour, how can i do it plz help me....

  • @SuperBunty99 Yes its quite easy:-

1: Find a new case that comes with the digitizer already in the (coloured) metal frame.

2: Follow my' Nokia N8 Disassembly & Reassembly' video using your new case.

    3: Enjoy your new colour N8 :-)

  • Obrigado pelo Video me ajudou muito !!!

  • Absolutely brilliant thanks, looking forward to the next one.

  • Hi, i have a nokia 6500 classic and they don't sell those anymore...

could i possibly repair it myself? (the screen just stays black but everything else works)

  • @MrHerbalfred Its worth a try, or you could pick one up cheap on ebay

  • very good

  • followed this guide but then last 2 screws got stripped...what do i do now to get them out?

  • @SuperKingofswords You'll need to drill the heads off and find some new screws

  • Bro u are a geniuses love ure disassembley video of n8 simply love u bro thanks

  • Interesante!

  • couldn't thank you enough for this vid mate and taking the time out to do it cheers,, ps i dont know why you have 4 dislikes the stuck up gits cheers again

  • @cfm2969 With the whole world watching I'm bound to upset someone :-)

  • Changed my digitiser over in 15 mins, had trouble getting the top off the phone or it'd have been finished in half the time!

Great quality video and a fantastic help. A video to replace a sony ericsson vivaz u5 would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

  • people who made my phone were gimps and tightened all the screws to tight and i jsut end up rounding them

  • You are truly Awesome Keep it up and thanks a billion Extremely magnificent

  • Worked like a charm. Really nice explanation and awesome video quality.

  • Is there any tutorial on how to replace full housing case?

  • @xnethub I've now made a full disassembly tutorial and put it as a video response. Let me know how you get on..

  • Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now I have my phone back after I put it on my car roof and drove over it..:) Ýou are the 21 century teacher..:)

  • where did u get the LCD screen and the TR

  • @ashbug40000 I used Google Shopping. Just search for 'nokia n8 lcd' or 'nokia n8 digitizer' under Google shopping, you'll see plenty on there...

  • dude you are the legent thumbs up to you bratha

  • Many thanx for this excellent upload... clear and concise and not too technical. I found getting the top off almost impossibe till after 25mins of struggling, I stuck a piece of parcel tape along the full length of the top-piece (camera side) and gently pulled it from the body of the phone...it worked first time. I too had to update my firmware to re-enable the menu button. Keep up the good work and again, many thanx.

  • hello every body i need ur help!!

i accidently droped a drop of sliva on my n8 camera while i ws sleeping.. nw my camera is working bt its result is very blurt en its shutter is also not automatically openin i hv to open it by striking it against my hand!! plz tell me wat to nw en hw to fix it... plz help me out to fix ths

  • Thank you for this, excellent video.

  • This is a great guide. I got a genuine screen off ebay with frame and delivered for £20.99. Just attempting to change it over now. When i seperated the screens from the phone 2 small metal strips have dropped out (from the bottom end). Any ideas where they go?

  • @spindleMr2 I've now made a full disassembly video and put it as a video response. You can see where to put the metal clips by clicking the link in the description...

  • OMG it looks so easy when someone else is doing it :)

  • Rare to see such a clear and easy to follow repair video. Really appriciated saved me a bundle!

  • Superb video, my girlfriend dropped her n8 & smashed the digitizer screen. I bought a new digitizer screen off ebay £16 but it didn't come with a frame.

I used your video to take the phone apart.

I prised it apart the frame/screen & stuck the new one on the old frame, stuck the LCD back down with a small amount of double sided tape. It works perfectly.

£16 DIY instead of £50 in the shop!! Thanks a lot for the walk-through : )

  • how broken only the screen?

  • @jonathasw007 The digitizer was already replaced when I made this video, I didn't buy one with the frame and had to use lots of heat to get the old one off, then glue the new one in.

That why I recommend you get one with the frame

  • Nice work man :)

  • thanks for the n8 lesson saved me a packet!!! i cracked my n8 screen and i lost my housein botton got the bits off line and followed ur vid.. but button did not cum wiv the top and bottom do you no if i could by one from anywhere?? thanks xx

  • @khippey1 If you Google 'nokia n8 spares' you'll find a few sites that sell all the parts individually...

  • @Lessons Thanks for a fantastic tutorial. I dropped my N8 last week, screen first onto rough concrete and shattered the screen. Was quoted approx £180 to replace the screen. I saw your tutorial and purchased a digitizer online for £30 inc p&p. Swapped over. Only difficulty was the top cover (**TIP** use rubber gloves here). Took 15 minutes. I found the home button wouldn't work even after hard reset, but just did the new firmware update via PC and it works perfectly. Thanks again :o)

  • @richie211274 Glad it worked well for you, thanks for the comment :-)

  • dude this video is brilliant !!!!!! thank you

  • ESD?????

  • Excellent! Shiny new screen now replacing cracked one, and all for a fraction of the cost of the nokia service centre :o)

  • Brilliant! thanks SO much! saved me a packet!!

  • wonder if we can custom order ClearBlack screens or super amoled screens to replace n8's regular amoled :D

  • why does the last screw always be stubborn?

  • Very clear video, great!

  • Great job man, very helpful :D

  • Man, I cannot get the top off (yes I took the screw out under th HDMI port). What a pain. At least with the blue phone, it's nothing like the ease at which it shows in the video and I see alot of posts online regarding the same prob. The Nokia Manual says to just push it up, YEAH RIGHT.

  • @scleme316 Have your tried using rubber or leather gloves?

  • No, but I should’ve. I finally got it off with a pair of pliers and a piece of rubber in between (I don’t recommend doing that though). That thing is ridiculous. I did notice on another phone that it was much easier, so it could have been just that model. FYI: I was taking it apart to change the front housing in case anyone is interested, I had dented the housing around the Camera lens. I did successfully change the housing and to be honest, it’s not so bad.

  • There are some very small metal brackets/clips that hold the LCD cover in the middle of the board cover and you have to be careful with those as they too hold the screen cover on flush. The manual also states that the torque screws on the last board should not be re-used (I re-used them). The hardest part for me was getting that damn top cover off, but your video saved me tons of grief, so thank you so much.

  • @scleme316 Sellotape was the answer for me - stick about 3 long strips just above the camera, then pull - magic!

  • @penguin77 OMG! thank you sooooo much!!!!!!! Was about to give up until i saw your idea. Worked like a charm!

Thank you thank you thank you!

  • @penguin77 Oh Man... Great Idea!... Thx for the tip...

  • i wonder if this can resolve the purple tint issue on my screen.

where did you get the replacement screen from?

  • @GUYANESEGT I got the screen from a UK on-line trader but can't remember which one.

If you read down through the comments you'll see a couple of other people that have changed the screen with the purple tint issue. Perhaps you could message them to see if it cured the problem...

  • Awesome Video... Thank you!

  • An excellent step by step tutorial, clear, concise and easy to follow.

Thanx for taking the time to show us!!

  • Great video helped a lot...

some hints if you send it through the fan on you 4x4 and then under both wheels doing 25kms. if you are unlucky like me and it lands face down the glass and frame will be broken.

The top cover will jamm on two small screwdrivers and edge it out and in wriggle it a

bit each time and eventually it will free up

  • Oh dude is awsome! Altho the video was very helpful I am wondering if you could make a video on how to change the full cover(bassically the full cover ting back and front) of Nokia N8 because my cover is kinda damaged and i need to change it! That would be very helpful because i need to know what I'm doing!

    Thanx Alot

  • @Andrei10HD I'll try and make one in the next few weeks...

  • @Andrei10HD I've now made a full disassembly tutorial and put as a video response. Let me know how you get on..

  • thumbs up? off course! :D

  • dude cheers had to use a flat head screwdriver to mak a gap around it then pushed it off. i am fixing this phone for my brother he thought he needed a new screen i didnt because there is no sign of the screen being cracked. i turn the phone on and all the lights come on but nothing on the screen so i thought it was the plugs that came undone ive re-thatched the plugs but same problem do you think the screen is broken?

  • @iferno Its worth trying a new screen, are you sure it hasn't had water damage?

  • dude cheers had to use a flat head screwdriver to mak a gap around it then pushed it off

  • problem i cant get the top of the phone any advice tried your way and nokia way but no good it feel like the thing is on tight

  • @iferno try using rubber gloves, like the ones used for washing up. Read all the comments, its will come off with a hard push...

  • excuse me, do you know how many humid indicators have this phone? and where are they?

  • @siul9803 I've made a full disassembly video but I forgot to or point out where they are. Sorry

  • thank u very mutch amigo

  • Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, had a few hiccups along the way but a very helpful Martin put me on the straight and narrow and I now feel like I have a brand me phone.

Thank you so much, will be asking your advice on everything from now on!

  • nice video !!!

  • what a great tuturial, very clear and easy to follow, thank you

  • Hi. good video. do you know how to change the earpiece speaker in the n8 as i need to change mine. thank you

  • Thanks alot i went to the phone shop when I broke the touch screen and they wanted £60 to get it fixed!. Your a life saver :)

  • Very good guide! However, my phone came with T4 screw heads, not T5. Maybe they've changed that recently ...

  • @ShockwaveR1der Thanks for letting me know, I've put it in the description...

  • For short, undo all the screws

  • Thx for prompt reply :)

Trouble is the faulty screen doesn't work at all 'cos it's cracked, so I can't check.

Is their any other reason you can think of why the new screen won't respond???

  • @thejules247 There's no reason I can think of, you'll need to try another digitizer

  • @LE55ONS Cheers, thx

  • Great video... however :(

after I replaced the touchscreen it all worked apart from the touch screen itself as it doesn't respond at all. I've rechecked all connections inside, I've done a hard reset, i've re installed/flashed the firmware but the touch screen still doesn't respond. I've had no problems like this prior to the change. Changed the t/s as it cracked.

    Any ideas/suggestions???

I don't know what else to do :(

  • @thejules247 Hi Jules, it sounds like a faulty touch screen, perhaps you could plug the old one in to see if it responds ok?

  • Great Video, you made it look easy.

  • dude seriously man , you're a life saver !! thanks a lot 1,000 thumbs up !!

  • Thank you very much this was extremly helpful!! :)

  • owww its hard!!... but i will try it soon

  • thanks for the video, but i think you need to be carefull.

    Somebody cracked his phone?

  • very nice,useful,simple and clear movie.just what i need .thanks a lot

  • perfect - thanks. the hardest part is popping that top end off (with the HDMI port) - at least for me with my sweaty fingers.

Also - good tip about buying the digitizer with the frame already fitted, although it will cost more. I just bought the glass part without thinking - it's a nightmare to get off. I did it just running a small sharp knife along the inside, starting from the already cracked part - that took the adhesive off but still got tiny shards of glass everywhere.

  • thanx man

  • i really love your videos.

  • I have New N8 Green color Mobile set, The problem is that It's Sensor not working during Incoming and Outgoing call. So, please tell me how I can fix that problem or How I can change the Sensor?

  • @2010unseen I'm not sure if its possible to change the sensor as its very small. Make sure the small window is clean in the top right corner of the screen. Some rubber covers can cause problems

  • hey how much it will cost whit the frame and without only the glass i just drop't my phone and the glass it shattered :D -.-

  • @janman40 depends on where you live. Try searching Google shopping for 'nokia n8 digitizer with frame' . How much depends on where you live. Around £35 seems the going rate in the UK

  • Fantastic. I had to change the glass, and didn't realise that they might send it without a frame, but it wasn't too difficult to reuse the old frame.

This step by step guide really helped though, and I repaired my phone for a fraction of the cost wanted by any of the phone companies. Thank you

  • Hi. I followed your instructions to replace my smashed digitizer. My screen, which was still working before I attempted the repair, no longer displays anything. The home button stays lit permanently and beeps when I press it. Any ideas?

  • @nkt1 It could be a faulty new digitizer, try plugging in the old one and see if it starts up ok...

  • Nice vid bro very easy and clear to understand! Thanks a lot

  • I am having purple tint problem with my N8's display.... can i solve this problem if I buy a new AMOLED LCD. I mean is this screen unit causes the purple tint?

  • @itswd I think it will solve your problem, but have a look here for more information discussions.europe.nokia.com

  • thank you thank you and thank you

    fantastic video great demonstration

    it saved me £20

and I enjoyed fixing the phone myself

    thank you again

  • Great tutorial and very nice camera you used to record this. did you record it with another N8? hahaha

  • can any one please tell me how to change the touch screen not the screen as showns in this video ??????

  • @aliasghar111 Watch @ 4:22 You need to buy a new digitizer with frame and then follow this video, you'll find it quite simple once its apart. Make sure you get one with the frame or you'll have lots of work getting the old screen off...

  • thank God for your tutorial!! i was kinda laughing not to cry over my 6 months N8 screen torn into 100 pieces :( Now, where do i purchase the replace screen? and how much is it?

  • @xallallita depends on where you live. Try searching Google shopping for 'nokia n8 digitizer with frame' . How much depends on where you live. Around £30 to £35 seems the going rate in the UK

  • Thanks for the best Video!

  • No rush man I am actually trying to sell the phone now. Nokia hasn't released the Anna update for the E7 and I really dont enjoy the phone anymore. I think the E6 will be my next move...

  • @ramotadab I've now uploaded one for the E7 and put it as a video responce...

  • Thats one of the best video tutorials iv seen,, no shouting, just talking to people and i feel 100% confidant now to fix my wife's screen,, Thank You

  • @shamtheman Thank you, your wife will be impressed when you've done it...

  • I have a question. My niece took my N8 and smashed a rock several times on the screen (the plastic cover was on). It is working perfectly fine. Do I need to replace the digitizer or the touch screen? I'm not sure what the difference is. Thanks

  • @WhiteSlice14 The digitizer is the technical term for touch screen. Just buy a new one with the frame and you'll be fine...
