I love both versions, But when i rented the DVD of the Family that Preys. And when it came to the end. I was about to ejected it when i heard that Un Mistakable sound of Gladys incredible powerful voice, I gotta tell you I watched the movie twice but played . It's phenomenal how much difference and impact the 'voice' makes in one's reaction to a song. As a youngster in the 80's I thought the original version was actually tepid and and overrated. But upon hearing Ms. Knight's version at the end of the film, my skin swarmed with goose bumps! Now I even have renewed respect for the original version. A similar thing happened when legendary singers like Aretha covered songs by the Beatles and Carole King. Suddenly the songs roared to life! Amazing!
