  • using vulgarities to express their thoughts and feelings..hmm. Strange...when people get mad they use the F*** word and when they are happy they still have to use the F*** word... what a way to end a great speech. Terrible...

  • me like it

  • awesome speech!

  • well... ok

  • Awesome~

  • Fuck

  • It'd be funny if she fucking did what she did because of a game of true or dare.

  • WIN!

  • you fucking did it! congrats btw!

  • I think this is one of the most awesome speech I've ever heard.

  • WE FUCKING LOVE THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH!! WELL DONE!!

  • cute. ;)

  • This is the perfect example of Singaporeans paying attention to less important events than the big picture. It's an amazing speech and everyone ignores that fact for 4 letters.

  • @amberdrizzle fucking is 7 letters.

  • Lol why the hell are so many singaporeans still so conservative? Ever heard of the term "Fuck yeah"?? It can also be used to place emphasis on the hard work that led to their success .I'm not afraid to use that word and I would use it as and when I want to.what the FUCK you gonna do about it .douche bags.

  • Wow... really, that's it. Those last seconds of her speech caused all of that controversy? Are you serious?!?! What about the 6 mins of the speech that was full of heart, appreciation, humor, selflessness and sincerity that proceeded the "word" that was used to express that all the hard work, effort and dedication was finally achieved? Oh my disappointed people ... grow up and get over it! I congratulate Trinetta for speaking her mind from her inner self! I would employ you in a heart beat!

  • nice.

  • Dun generalize Singaporeans getting cranky over that one word.

i think the younger generations are able to accept the use of the word fuck. but i guess Singapore is still pretty conservative about such things and its the newspapers tt are actually making a big fuss out of this. i think its totally fine if the word is used appropriately .

  • Formal event don't use mah... now tio flame..

  • Ya lady!!! Nthg wrong wif using it!!! I can't tink of a more appropriate word then that!!!!

  • 05:33 we fucking did it! hahahah kewl

  • it the spirit of the moment - WE FUCKING DID IT!!

nothing wrong with that imo ;)

  • The "FUCK" word is common nowadays in informal circles - Including University students. Admittedly, it might be inappropriate to say the word during formal speeches, but if anyone says she is uncouth just because she said that word, then they are like Christians who have been living under a rock.

  • WE FUCKING DID IT!!!YES!

  • Comment removed

  • I think Singaporeans freak out because we think that a university student should have more "maturity" to not say the f word during formal occasions. But I got to commend on her bravery. LOL

    NICE ONE.XD

  • well i like the part where she saw professors and students alike as synonymous to the various hogwarts houses. very heartfelt indeed. And the tone in which she she said the f-bomb, not very uncouth IMO. Why is the public going crazy over this again?

  • Comment removed

  • @darkelivrio I feel that this is still uncouth and my friend happened to be studying there at that time. Trinetta did not mean to have used this word - probably she was too excited and got carried away from the event. But good that she has apologised and learnt emotional control since.

  • :) very touching and moving speech!! you can feel the kind of pride being the one representing the entire cohort - and finally you can say - WE DID IT! Language or not.. i think the situation called for it! :)

  • she must be like "oh fuck" after the whole thing

  • Why condemn her? Parents, do you genuinely believe that YOUR children do not harbour the slightest thought of doing what she did? Do you genuinely think that YOUR children actually disapproves of what she did? Well, I think all the other graduates sitting down thr in the hall are actually dying to do what she did, but do not have the same courage as her. ALL the graduates, including YOUR children. So stop condemning her. It might be your kid someday too.

  • Hmm...lucky boyfren. Wonder hu tht dude is.

  • no fuck no human !

  • I wanna fuck her

  • FUCK YEAH! This is the best speech I have ever heard. Now considering what school to go to. Future school NTU~

  • who cares?its just the word 'fuck'.its a fucking common word used by people.even the kids use it.get over it singaporeans.

  • Great speech .

  • There are some who criticize Singaporeans as being too conservative and too 'by the book', people who don't dare to challenge societal norms, and cannot step outside their comfort zone. Perhaps all we needed was someone with f#@!ing guts, like this valedictorian. What a refreshing way to end.

  • hey youfuckingdidit, speech can't have bad words and it is rude. Anyone agree?

  • Singaporean went nuts over a video made by a PRC college student poking fun at Singapore. He was kicked out of his uni and subsequently Singapore.

This girl drew half shit storm and half sympathy.

Let's play a little game. What if their roles are reversed?

Let's play the race card all over. It's a well-used, overly used and abused card. But can draw quite a bit of supporters.

  • @ImEternalWanderer I think it's a little far-fetched to compare these 2 cases - you said it yourself, the PRC college student POKED FUN AT SINGAPORE, this girl didn't even insult anyone - THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE between saying 'fuck you' and 'we fucking did it'

  • @bramblerose I was asking you to imagine a PRC valedictorian delivering that "We fucking did it!" speech. Nothing else. I didn't ask you to ask yourself to imagine him saying "Fuck you all, my classmates and professor. I fucking hate you!". No, I didn't ask you that.

And also Chinese Singaporean doing a video poking fun at Malay and Indian Singaporeans (I'm sure some has such sentiments, just not expressed)

I guess the anti-foreigner rhetoric would have quite field day. The other guy? Hero?

  • I f***ing did it 8 years ago and f***king did it again 3 months ago... Hurrahh! Lol!

  • I f***ing did it 8 years ago and f***king did it 3 months ago... Hurrahh! Lol!

  • 112 people had tiger mums

  • FUCK YEA!!!!

  • so pretty :)

  • 5:32 for the F Word!

  • @hottboi4757828 hey, i'm a student from Temasek Poly, currently doing on my school project, which i am doing a documentary on the F word,Singaporeans being too uptight, and i was wondering i could get a permission from you to use this video as part of my video project. I would very much appreciate it, thank you :)

  • seriously ppl its one stupid little word that my own 9YRS old cousins uses. The ppl that started this uproar probably use the word themselves whether out of habit or just a fit of anger. The speech was amazing and i hope that i become valedictorian, i would have the courage to encourage my fellow classmates to pursue their dreams. And u know what i have to say to the ppl that caused the uproar and ruin this beautiful speech? FUCK!!!!

  • From all the fuss the media was making, I expected her to have said the F word loud and clear in a deliberate manner... But I had to replay the ending part with an increased volume just to hear it -_-

  • This is truly a non-issue. The speech needs to be viewed as whole for its overall thrust and mood. In the heat of the moment, a F-word was used (perhaps, a bit too liberal for the nit pickers among us) ; but overall the speech was your usual 'feel good' end of your celebration. I am just surprised that this non-event has even got to the press. What next is newsworthy now? Farting or burping in public? I just amazed at how vindictive people can be. Just talk to her privately if you have to.

  • Move on fucking retards

  • I don't care about the f word. The speech is just no gooood

  • WE FUCKING DID IT! OH NO I SAID THE F WORD AGAIN :(

  • @youfuckingdidit nice name

  • Comment removed

  • Yea she did, and like a farking part-time virgin, she will bleed and NTI (U) too....hahahaha.

  • It would be nice if she say " I fucking make it " instead of " We fucking make it ". Not all ppl study in NTU are fucking around to get graduated.

  • I think she and all others like her should grow up. When they go for interviews they will most probably be facing the gen x who do not condone such vulgarity. Gen y may be pushing the boundaries but gen x still hold all the aces. In our eyes NTU is back to NTI.

  • LOL at all the people saying it's awesome cos she's hot and all...if she were fat, short and ugly everyone would be hating on her! hypocripsy! HAHAHA

  • We fucking did it lol

  • chio

  • What's wrong with that? You probably heard all this word from pri or sec school students, so what's wrong that she said that? o_o It's nothing much anyway.

  • @wendypup94 Yes, but what Trinetta did was wrong! How uncouth she sounded!! If I were her father, I might definitely go up to the stage and give her 2 tight slaps across her face? Don't you agree with me?

  • @061403W But u are not.. and its a good chance ur kids wont be valedictorian

  • @taoman89 Shut up if you know what's good for you. Trinetta should have known better to control her emotions and not use such uncouth language. If I am her father, I will settle this incident with her at home by pointing out this mistake and explain to her why it is wrong and how she can avoid it from happening next time.

  • @taoman89 Why? If I am her dad, I will settle the matter with her at home and advise her to learn how to control her emotions and avoid stage frights.

  • @061403W Lol you sound pretty uncouth yourself telling people to shut up. This is a free forum and everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. You've made yours heard (no less than 6 times I see lol) but don't you have better things to do with your life rather than harp on this issue? Honestly, I think its about time that you fixate on REAL WORLD problems like the US debt crisis or the London riots

  • @bramblerose Oh, sorry. Now then I realise that this is a free forum. For what Trinetta did, it was wrong and ungracious. However, it turned out to be good that she apologised and learnt emotional control since.

  • so cute

  • I liked her speech although I was initially turned off by the negative report. She is cute. Is there a transcript of her speech somewhere? The audio recording not so clear at times...but good speech.

  • Cant Singaporeans just be more open-minded? i am a singaporean and i truly felt okay with it. The word is used so frequently that.. it became a word for expression. Whats the big deal?!

  • heard that she's some industry officer working in a stat board. try using the F word at work in front of mgt and tell me its ok.. come on guys there is a time and place for everything and what she said was totally inappropriate given her position as valedictorian

  • What F word? Oh you mean FUCK? What's wrong with the act of procreation? I would imagine the concept of torture to be a far more heinous thing, and yet we use the word torture freely, a word which describes the act of inflicting severe pain on another fellow human being for a prolonged period of time with the intention to cause suffering. Why not censor the word 'torture'? Fuck your naive pseudo-conservative fuckwit brains.

  • you go girl!

  • Its just a word...shes a grad..she gonna be successful..give her a break...god

  • lol big deal! lighten up.

  • though i feel that use of such vulgarities is wrong and uncouth but i feel that the f word was purposely added for cause and effect...nonetheless the use of vulgarities is kinda not appropriate for a formal occasion but there is really no need to bash her so much for it...

anyways I really like her speech!!!(=

  • she said the 'f' word ...really? It was so damn boring i dozed off before it finished......geez...what a load of crap!!!!

  • she said the 'f' word ...really? It was so damn boring i dozed off before it finished......geez...what a load of crap!!!!

  • Lol. Where do I begin? This was an amazing speech, really! Perhaps a little informal, but an amazing speech! I'm surprised the culture here is different from in my school, where during speeches the student has a not-so-singlish accent. Well, kinda. Anyway, the word fuck was totally on her script. It wasn't a slip! It may have been appropriate, but it did fit the rest of her speech which was casual!

  • come on.. what's the point of selecting someone and speaking out something that they dun actually mean and feel?

  • 5:33

  • I LOVE HERRRRRR! She got embarrass the friends and relatives meh. She's damn awesomez canz. You all are too freaking ass stuck in your conservative box. NTU ftw!

  • I fucking did her!

  • I like her ABC != Arrogant, Bitchy and Calculative but ABC = Awesome, Bold and "very very Crazy"

The end of this speech is exactly that: ABC, or rather I would add, FABC = Fucking Awesome, Bold and Crazy.

  • She said it was a slip of her tongue that she has to "swear" with the F word at such a formal occasion, but she does not seem so nervous that a slip of the tongue was evident. She seem to mean it..For the youngsters, a mistake is a mistake, admit it and move on, don't try to justify with excuses.. It just look more "lame"!

  • She said it was a slip of her tongue that she has to "swear" with the F word at such a formal occasion, but she does not seem so nervous that a slip of the tongue was evident. She seem to mean it..

  • If this is a common word she uses in her daily life, she should not be used it in the formal occasion. Just like wearing, we need to learn what to wear in different occasion. This is the result of not taking the moral education seriously in our education system, I think Singapore is very much focus on academic which could link to the economic benefits. If our future parents-to-be accept this word, it may be becoming a common word that we have to use it to get connection with peers.

  • @MySparkLife and then it becomes part of the daily vocabulary. thats whats life is about. nothing stays the same. no one dies if u use the word Fuck, and sometimes its hard to describe something without the use of certain words. so lets just enjoy it while it lasts.

  • Influencing by American culture, more and more youngsters are using this word without feeling embarrassing. Even though the high school students use it. Another common word is "wa lao". It sounds especially bad that it comes from the ladies. Just like smoking, it looks especially awful on ladies. I am not sexist. Probably, I'm old fashion. This is not a matter whether the women want to get the equal right as men. I do not mean that men could use this word too.

  • it's just one word. why ppl only focus on that one word and ignore the rest of the wonderful speech that she made. it was really a very heartfelt speech that apparently many of her schoolmates can associate with. i think it's a great speech. i just dont understand why singaporeans only focus on that one tiny word and make a big deal out of it. i hope my valedictorian is as gutsy and as truthful as she is.

  • get a life for those 106 whom dislikes, is jus a expression of hardships.

  • You Are Famous Now Ms Chong, thanks to this upload and straits time report...haha

  • awesome speech

  • 0.2 million views,F girl is famous

  • Seriously man, this girl makes me want to be a valedictorian

  • She used the word "Fucking" in her speech. SO WHAT? Un-graduate her ah? Just get over it.

  • "We fucking did it!" The favourite part of mine throughout her speech, and I really mean it. :D

  • Those who bashed at her did not graduate!!!!

  • ohhh FUCK... There aint any fucking beer left in my fridge!!! WTF!!!

  • What the FUCK!!! She is so fucking pretty and the speech she gave was so fucking brilliant....All the human being in the hall had heard and use the word FUCK before... so i think we shouldnt have fuck here and fuck there juz because of this... Grow up ppl.... Juz fyi, i m now goin to fuck some beers ....

  • It's not about being proud of swearing.

It's not about being cool. That's so old.

It's about not blowing up a small matter.

You know what's the best part?

Read the article - "inappropriate choice of words was regrettable. However, the statement added that 'graduands at Ceremony 14 were in extremely high spirits on Friday evening'."

Looks like even NTU agrees and is not blowing it out of proportion: Action, could have been better. Intention? Harmless. Joy. Celebration.

    Grow up whiners.

  • making a fuss from absolutely nothing.

  • Well, wouldn't you be FUCKING glad after you finish your schooling?

  • I don't see why everyone is so proud of swearing. It does not matter if she swears on a regular basis or not, however, this is a proper speech in front of parents, she should not be using that foul word. Besides, vulgarities only degrades you for all those people who think these swears are cool.

  • i do not think that it is a fuss that she say the f word

  • i don't see what's the problem of her saying fuck?

  • i watched dis caux its in de news

  • it's not unintentional.she seems very cool when she uses the F*** word.

  • I don't see whats the big hooo hhaaaa about her saying fuck.

  • LOL this came out in the Singapore papers saying it was inappropriate.Come on have these lecturers grew up?She's just tryna express her feelings so just let her be.The word isn't that harsh though.

  • respect!

  • is she from singapore?

  • LOL it's so funny how haters try to put this speech down when they can't even spell properly.

  • One thing she didn't did better was to say "FUCKING" with more confidence. The way she says makes it feel "I feel wrong saying this".

  • @XiaoCooper It IS wrong to say this while making a closing speech to almost the whole school.

  • @Canislupisfamilia Ok seriously, what's your problem. It's the way she chooses to express herself and what she thought the rest of her cohort was feeling. Who wouldn't be proud of going through 4 years of higher education? In the hype of the moment, she probably wasn't thinking consciously about the consequences, but so what? Unless you can honestly say you yourself have NEVER used a swear word in your life, you have absolutely no rights to judge others for something you are equally guilty of.

  • @madessfan Hahah then what's yours? But the point is,this IS a proper speech, which is given in front of parents, teachers and other students, shouldn't she mind her choice of words? The dictionary doesn't only consist of THAT word alone. And, I HAVE NEVER say the foul word that she used before,so does it mean I have the right to judge her? Anyway,I'm not trying to judge her in the first place.

  • Seriously, the use of this word shows how 'well-mannered' she is.

  • I would like to say on those douchebags who written on the newspaper and hit back at the girl. Fuck all of you. What's wrong with using Fucking anyway? She's not intentional anyway. Every fucking human makes a mistake. And I bet you'll have said it accidentally if that was you. So piss off, have a life, stop hating and go to sleep. Thank you haters, and fucking piss off.

  • 怎麼都刻意用英文回應... 優越感吧...

  • Hottie!

  • I feel bad for her. She worked 4 years to get a degree and become a Valedictorian, she seems charismatic enough, she's obviously was overwhelmed with joy (after 4 years of working towards something whether easy or not, i would be too) and all anyone can say is that she's a disgrace for saying fuck. If anyone knows her and could tell her this, Congratulations on making Valedictorian, those 4 years define you, not that 1 word. and yes, You made it :)

  • Horrible Harry Potter analogy at the start.

The "fucking did it" was a terribly forced attempt in sounding frank. Would not be surprised if she rehearsed it from a script.

    6/10

  • honey badger don't give a shi_t

  • honey badger don't give a shi_t

  • GODD DAMMNN !! She's hot !!

  • we fuckung did it

  • people who think the f word by itself is offensive are just rtards. it can only get offensive when you are directing it towards someone as an insult.

  • What irony man, she is suppose to communicate and boy did she really tell me a lot of the Wee Kim Wee School !!

  • Everyone with a rational mind probably went, "Holy shit dude..."

The F* word is not meant for valedictorian speeches. But at least it makes life less monotonous...

  • wts luhh peeps, stop shooting her down!!! Girl, u are full of character! I support you! Yay!!! :DDD

  • Shocked to say the least! This is not the occasion to use the f word. Please it is just a degree programme so to say that it is tough does not cut IT!! Complete disgrace and if the Gen Y thinks this is fine - then IT IS REALLY A SHAME!!

  • you guys weren't at the ceremony, so you guys don't understand. i'm from her graduating class. she's MY valedictorian and we are PROUD of her. She said the word because it encapsulates the 4 long years well, and our higher education is meant to train US to break boundaries to be daring. That "F" word she used resonated well precisely because of that. Why else was she given a standing ovation? So you haters, go think more deeply. She didn't say it to insult to begin with.

  • @japsterthaddaeus

Holy God, you're actually trying to justify this embarrassing mistake.

We're all clear that she doesnt intend to offend anyone. The issue here is whether the use of the word Fuck is appropriate and acceptable. It fucking isnt.

  • @japsterthaddaeus aiya just get a life. just replace 'F' with 'Finally' la. Can you guarantee that she will not do it again? Wrong mean wrong and stop arguing abt that.

  • @japsterthaddaeus Though true at that, she said it, accompanying with many things unrelated to a velediction she was suppose to make. As such, it was unproffesional. To think that she is a graduate, she will have a job in the future. So by saying this you are trying to say that it will be okay for her to use such words in presentations next time? Then again, i know she didn't mean it but still, you know it isn't morally okay.

  • @japsterthaddaeus well said! it just shows how enthusiastic and happy you people were. it wasn't meant to be controversial.

  • @japsterthaddaeus I double dare you to say the "F" word during your job interviews and presentations, since your proudly chime that there is nothing wrong with it. TC made a mistake, wasn't a big deal, the media made a big hoo-ha and yes, other than that, the rest of her speech was amazing. But please don't deny that the mistake in using the F word for this ceremony. It only shows how naive our gen y people are.

  • u see, there are so many way that u are using the "f" word... and they are used correctly.... as exclaimation.... I do not know what the "f" you guys are aiming at this poor girl. Have a life !

  • Girl, I do not think you have disgrace everyone including your parents.... Stay truthful, there are a lot more people of self proclaim highly educated and ego-ed are using the "f" word for many shameful instances...

  • Thought she delivers a wonderful speech. do not dis-credit her just because of the "f" word. I thibnk people has to know that this is Gen Y lingual and this "f" word is not the original intention of "f". Check out the dictionary.... "f" in used for such instance is terned as exclaimation, while sometimes it means follish, so do not use the dirty thinking that you have to interpret the intention of use.

  • How can anyone chosen a girl like her to speak on such an important day! A big disgrace to NTU & Singapore .

  • strange accent

  • @zulufromhell Hahah! I think her in-laws would really be shock and who knows? Maybe disagree with the marriage since she embarrassed the whole family in front of the friends and relatives!

  • Let face d reality here. This is d generation we living in now. People just dont care abt Good characters anymore that consists of speech & behaviour. D four letters word has been at the tips of their tongue & surely they will end their sentences wif this words, it act like a full stop.

Watch Ramsay Gordon Hell Kitchen . He never stop swearing & always uttering the F word. It has been his trademark. I bet his food is contaminated his bad mouth. I cud guess what his last word wud b.

  • tell me about open minded. It has nothing to do with open minded,it's using the appropriate words. The f word is never appropriate to be used, never mind you're open or close minded. Those that says it's fine and okay to use that word, get your brain check and learn about proper manner. Also, what young generation will take over? if this is okay then probably a decade later some valedictorian would just wear a bikini or something like lady gaga to give a speech. Retarded bunch of ppl.

  • @holockcreateinc I have proper manners. I know never to use that word directed at someone. I know my "please", "thank you", decorum etc. But let's face it. this is a convocation of 23 year-olds. How much harm is "fuck" especially when it is not used in its original vulgar context or used offensively and repeatedly? Let it be. You have been blinded by its original meaning, which it is not used here. And btw, Lady gaga DID give a speech for NYU.

  • @Karliang so being a 23 years old granted you the right to say anything? Wish one day your prime minister will use that f word in his every sentences, but oh of course not directing it at someone or use in its original vulgar context. And btw, that's some 23 years of rubbish education you had that taught you it's fine to say that word. Well done.

  • @Karliang Hahah I totally agree to your last line, saying that 23 years of rubbish education taught those people to say that word. Nice one!

  • @Canislupisfamilia fuck off. our education trumps yours anyday, judging from how much hatred and small-mindedness you have for the world. poor bitter bastard. Stop sippin' on your haterade, ass.

  • @starlyt88 Err..I'm from Singapore too? LOL. But I didn't know there were people who are educated yet act like some hooligans in our country, that's a little sad isn't it? Tsk tsk..

  • @Canislupisfamilia oh god. in what point did i suggest that you're not singaporean? I'm saying stop commenting on how others' education is rubbish cos wkwsci gave me a great education. stop being bitter. and omg why am i wasting my time here.

  • @starlyt88 If you didn't suggest I wasn't a Singaporean, why would you say 'OUR education trumps YOURS'? Since we're both under the same education system? And I'm not saying the wkwsci didn't give you a good education, but I just don't understand how someone who spent 23 years of their life studying and learning will turn out to be someone who use foul words during a PROPER SPEECH.

  • Shame! Shame! Shame! A very bad and lousy poor taste of joke! Bad influence to other.

  • I&
