  • I didnt like the Prelude very much, but the Fuge is really nice :)

  • Which pipe-organ is shown at 7:00?

  • Sadly not a pipe organ but the outside of the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. It houses a vast public library, it was designed by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano. All the pipes carry the essential services, air conditioning, water etc.

  • Where did those reeds come from? Certainly Roth (good as he is) never uses them!!!!!

  • I think we can put this down to microphone placement, LPs tended to be miked much closer than we do now (thats my opinion). I dont think the reeds have been revoiced, but they seem to have more fire here than recent recordings, or may just be choice of registration...

  • Not my favorite Dupré -- but even mediocre Dupré is better than the best of many composers.

  • Hi. Totally agree, not the best stuff he ever wrote, but I was so taken with the recording of the master playing HIS works on HIS organ, I just could not resist it:-)

  • Maybe so, but it is one of the "goofiest" fugue subjects in the literature, and is really riveting when set in counterpoint. Great stuff!

  • Oh I just love this stuff! I love the second set of Preludes and Fugues!

  • Sorry but THESE pieces are real masterpieces. Absolutely perfect under every point of view.
