I have not heard this song in a long time, and it has taken me years to remeber Amanda Marshall's name. That having been said, I remember when hearing this song six years ago I could only think of how she loved "him' and missed "him".

I saw her for the first time in '97 when she opened for Mellencamp. She opened with Let It Rain and I fell in love with her instantly...what a voice! I really liked her first two albums but I heard one of her later releases and it didn't take advantage of her beautiful vocals. It was pretty much bland pop music and I barely recognized her voice.
This woman's potential isn't being fulfilled. What's she up to these days?

Just venturing a guess here but the reason I think Amanda didn't take off here in the U.S. is that at the same time, Joan Osborne was taking off in her career. Since they look similar and have impressive voices, Joan happened and Amanda didn't.

I have not heard this song in a long time, and it has taken me years to remeber Amanda Marshall's name. That having been said, I remember when hearing this song six years ago I could only think of how she loved "him' and missed "him".
When I heard this song tonight, I thought of myself. I know how self centered it sounds. Yet, I could not help think of the loss of my innocense. I could not help think of me apologising to the young me, the innocent me... how she would be so disappointed.

@dlj1974 Thanks. I hope she comes to Toronto too. Apparently her "disappearance" from the scene had to do with management issues. There's a recent article in the TO Star about this, although she doesn't go into it too much. Ahh, isn't all the legal stuff wonderful. : (

I hadn't heard this for a long time and heard it this morning while laying in bed at 6 AM this a Saturday morning. Just had to get up and find out who sang this! I thought it was Alannah Myles at first. I've always loved Amanda's voice.
I heard she played at Casino Rama? recently. Please do more concerts Amanda.

i listen to this song literally all the time. it somehow makes me feel subdued with my depression. her voice all soft at first and than belting it out near the end is perfect for how i feel inside. shes a true artist and im proud as hell to be from vancouver ,where this music video is taken

I sang this song a bit ago at a Karaoke bar for a friend of mine going through depression.
Now I know my voice is only 1/10th of hers, if that, but I couldn't have been happier when the entire bar stood up and applauded.
Its those moments I cherish most. =)

although, every time i hear it, i cry, because it reminds me of when my best friend of 7 years (i had a crush on him since the day i met him- i still do.) Asked me out, and we went out for a little over 1 year, and then he dumped me for a girl he had met only a week before. :\

A friend of mine once gave me Amanda's album with this track on-then I made the mistake of falling in love with him. I've never told him how I really feel, but we're not as close as we used to be, because of my feelings. I guess this song is really appropriate now.

I saw her for the first time in '97 when she opened for Mellencamp. She opened with Let It Rain and I fell in love with her instantly...what a voice! I really liked her first two albums but I heard one of her later releases and it didn't take advantage of her beautiful vocals. It was pretty much bland pop music and I barely recognized her voice.
This woman's potential isn't being fulfilled. What's she up to these days?

I think amanda keeps a low key or her agents suck at marketing, cuz she should have been tops around the world. its amazing how many people have never heard or seen her and when they do its like holly crap, looks like an angel and sings like one. Man I've loved her to death for years

Just venturing a guess here but the reason I think Amanda didn't take off here in the U.S. is that at the same time, Joan Osborne was taking off in her career. Since they look similar and have impressive voices, Joan happened and Amanda didn't.
