  • Fine playing man!!

    Bye,

    BEDIAZ-MUSIC

  • Hi,this video is great =) but...ummm,do you have a recording without video?I'm going to be on cloud nine if yes ^_^

  • @m2804

sorry, I don't have that but the composer, a great player and luthier, Paddy Burgin has a cd with this song on it.

google his name and you'll get to his website (he's on YouTube as well)

  • @daddystovepipe

thx =) glad you replied so soon and one more question-how long it took you to learn how to play on weissenborn?

  • @m2804

a few months only but I've been playing fingerpicking guitar for more than 35 years so that helps...

  • Hi DS, your playing is inspiring as always! I notice you play two different Weissenborn style guitars, one made by Tony Francis and this one I think by Daniel Brauchli. Which one is the nicer guitar to play?

  • Both have their magic. I prefer to do my older blues material on the Tony F and the more modern stuff on the Brauchli.

  • awesome stuff. for some reason, to me, this song sounds very eastern european. must be the unique tone that mixitup60 mentioned.

  • And I must say that you`ve got a real fine guitar here

  • A true joy to listen to this tune! Thank you

  • What a wonderful play this is!!!

    Love it!

    Roeleke

  • Im as amazed as always by your vids Mr Stovepipe. 10/10

  • FANTASTIC BRA,

can i ask a Q, do you always tune to DGDDBb tuning, or do you use others as well....

hawwaiian music sounds ike its tuned very differently and i've also heard people tuning strings only like a tone or two appart... hope it makes sence..

    great playing buddy

  • Thanks for the kind words.

Other tunings I use are DGDGBD (aka Spanish), DADF#AD (aka Vestapol) and CGCGCE.

This is the only song I play in Gm tuning.

Go to my profile and click on playlist to see my other lapslide vids; info about the tunings is always mentioned in "more info"

  • I am totaly in love with this lapsteel, from red river valley to this song it never seems to hit anything it cant do. Great looking instrument and wonderfull playing.

  • If I could play like that I'd play 24 hours a day. Very Nice.

  • Sorry about the last comment as i never got to finish it the power went off. What i was saying it has very unique sound, and also wondered if you were miking it or it had a pickup and what kind of strings you used?

  • It has a KK pickup and is amplified with a AE Cube amp. Strings are something between light and medium. I usally use phosphor bronze D'Addario's but I can hardly hear any difference between other brands.

  • Thank you for your information, not everyone is so free with the information, I'm going to build one like yours if i can, i notice that your sides are different then others and you don't have a round hole and seems to have longer fret board. I have sent for plans, but they are different then your instrument in design, but hope to be able ajust the plans.

  • thats because d'addario make most of the strings for the other brands... you have fantastic ears mate, ha ha...

  • Question, Who made the weisseborn guitar you are playing? I looked up the site for Paddy Burgin the composer of the song your playing, but no guitar like yours was pictured. It has a very unikee

  • if you google Daniel Brauchli you'll get on the site of the maker. My model is the blackwood with the cedar top and fixed bridge. The sound is between a weissenborn and a dobro squareneck.

  • Just Great, really haunting. I love that Gm tuning, is that tuned up from standard E tuning or down? You have a beautiful collection guitars, I admire your Talent.

  • DGDGBbD low to high

    thanks for the kind words

  • Thanxs again for the details! I will try to learn it, by myself watching you playing. I specially like your way of playing, Your weissenborn sounds amazing, probably a custom model made for you? The body with gives it a deeper sounding, It goes straight to the soual ;-).

    From Paris France: Congratulations!!!

  • The weissenborn is not a custom instrument but a regular model made by Daniel Brauchli. Google his name and you'll find his website.

  • Very nice, is it your own song? What is the open tuning?

    Nice guitar too.

  • Thanks for the compliment. You'll find all the info under the orange subscribe button.

  • daddy "goldfinger"

  • really awesome man, beautiful, Gm is a haunting tuning

  • Incredible!!!

  • I hate repeating myself, but again very beautiful, youre wide range of styles amazes me
