I agree with thyrf, all the rpg's that are recently coming out may have awesome graphics but have the suckiest story lines. That's why old playstation 2 and playstation 1 rpg's are so awesome but are frowned upon just because of bad graphics.
whats the point if a game has a shitload of awesome graphics...but then the story, gameplay, characters, dialogues suck??? i prefer playing games that are more focused on everything i said back there then just graphics....just look at FFXIII for example, awesome graphics, annoying characters, repetitive combat, linear scenarios, no world map, some dull dialogues...still its my opinion
@Rayved yeah thats why star ocean series have always been my fav rpg series, i never really cared about graphics, to me star ocean has the best unique combat system and the most awesome story ^^, and always cool and funny characters like the ashton guy with two dragons(gyoro and ururun i think) on his back from SO2, my favourite rpg: star ocean 2 the second story... i must have finished it 7 times and im gona play it again right now :D

I don't really like playing with sprites after starting off the series with the 3D games but now I'm on Roak and I find a lot of similarities between names of people and I think it's really cool how the games are connected. I didn't see any connection between the ps3 and ps3 ones but I bet these 2 games will make everythin fit togeter

ffxiii feels practically real time, and most of the time your running around (and you can even jump!!) but when you run into an enemy (dont worry, they are visble before you run into them, unlike in dragon quest viii), there is a very brief flash that brings you to the battling dimension, which is essentialy turn based, but very lively and actiony :-)! I'm so excited!!
well, (most) playable characters in the game are, after all, important to the story, so a character creator would make all to much sense here. in the older rpgs like FFI-FFVI, characters were basicaly 100% 'created' by the player, but that made having a real plot difficult. therefore these days the characters are usually genuine. however, they are customizable!!(costumes, weapons, accesories etc.)
Finally the PS3 is getting this game! The PS3 also deserves the other RPG exclusives on the 360. Most of them flopped anyway, so it's only fair to sell them on a console that will have more games sold!

What do you mean is that vad? are you saying Tales isn't good? Well this game has frama rate issues when you fight monsters, the graphics are constantly changing, meaning in one place your character may look good and in others he will look like a badly made blowup dollm, also there are barely no facial expressions the characters don't show how sad they truly are or how excited. Overall graphics are horrible, you might consider renting it before buying it. Some people may actually like it.
That depends, if you don't mind the frame rate issues and constant change of graphical display, then you may like it, me however, found the frame rates issue happening way to often so I did not like it.
This game got difficult during the post. I still can't believe how Tri-Ace made that horrible Wandering Dungeon with no save points and then a difficult boss at the end, that's even cheaper then Freya. After fighting her I sort of started to hate rush mode.
This game is really great and pretty long too (3 DISCS) i'm on disc 3 so i think im almost done with it. Its only on the Xbox360 right now so PS3 Owners don't trip you guys are going 2 get this great game real soon just hang in there.
Too much going on at once. The camera angle and nice looking effects make the game look better than it really is. :/ Not saying the game isn't buyable. It's just nothing worth actually praising besides the look of it.

I've played every Star Ocean except the one on the GBC thank you. I actually don't prefer turn based rpgs (the ones you'd think of such as Final Fantasy), but even in those I turn the ATB on Active so that the enemy can react whenever its turn comes up.
The gameplay is the only thing Star Ocean has ever had going for it since the last game; and it's only a matter of preference. I prefer a Tales of realtime battle system over Star Ocean's.
If anything, it's Visuals > Gameplay > Story. L2Troll.

Made by microsoft??? do your research man, this was never made by them. It was made by a third party called tri-ace and published by square-enix. Chances are this will be a timed exclusive and come to the ps3 later on with more content. Well, its most likely to happen like it did with Bioshock and eternal sonata.
They didn't buy exclusive rights. Square Enix (and various other companies) like the 360's technology and find it easier to code on since it's old enough so that it's easier on the mind, but new enough to be passable in looks and ability. Square Enix just states they don't have any current plans to bring it to other consoles.

Well this game has frama rate issues when you fight monsters, the graphics are constantly changing, meaning in one place your character may look good and in others he will look like a badly made blowup dollm, also there are barely no facial expressions the characters don't show how sad they truly are or how excited. Overall graphics are horrible, you might consider renting it before buying it. Some people may actually like it.

That depends, if you don't mind the frame rate issues and constant change of graphical display, then you may like it, me however, found the frame rates issue happening way to often so I did not like it.

This game got difficult during the post. I still can't believe how Tri-Ace made that horrible Wandering Dungeon with no save points and then a difficult boss at the end, that's even cheaper then Freya. After fighting her I sort of started to hate rush mode.

This game is really great and pretty long too (3 DISCS) i'm on disc 3 so i think im almost done with it. Its only on the Xbox360 right now so PS3 Owners don't trip you guys are going 2 get this great game real soon just hang in there.

Too much going on at once. The camera angle and nice looking effects make the game look better than it really is. :/ Not saying the game isn't buyable. It's just nothing worth actually praising besides the look of it.

wow the gameplay is the best part of the game with the visuals comming in second, its the storyline and voice acting that hurts this game, just like it hurt the last SO game, only a noob thinks there is too much going on cause they are too used to playing boring turn based rpgs where u have all day to react

I've played every Star Ocean except the one on the GBC thank you. I actually don't prefer turn based rpgs (the ones you'd think of such as Final Fantasy), but even in those I turn the ATB on Active so that the enemy can react whenever its turn comes up.
The gameplay is the only thing Star Ocean has ever had going for it since the last game; and it's only a matter of preference. I prefer a Tales of realtime battle system over Star Ocean's.
If anything, it's Visuals > Gameplay > Story. L2Troll.

Word, Tales of games are my absolute favorite JRPGs. I have to say, though, fast-paced turn based games like Persona 4 are pretty fun too.

you can't really say that, i found ffvii to be one of the most ridiculously easy RPGs i've played, great game but it had no real tough battles, whilst in star ocean i've always struggled at several spots

Chances are this will be a timed exclusive and come to the ps3 later on with more content. Well, its most likely to happen like it did with Bioshock and eternal sonata.

They didn't buy exclusive rights. Square Enix (and various other companies) like the 360's technology and find it easier to code on since it's old enough so that it's easier on the mind, but new enough to be passable in looks and ability. Square Enix just states they don't have any current plans to bring it to other consoles.
