I loved Skippy this was my favotite show as a kid, I still remember when Skippy flew the chopper and back then I thought the roo was really flying it lol
I wonder if Skippy ever freaked out whenever someone reached around her with kangaroo paws attached to sticks to do the complex stunt work (eg playing drums, undoing knots, carrying out emergency surgery etc)
I know a good story about the production of Skippy.
When the late, great Frank Thring guest starred on the show and first arrived on set he spied a large hessian sack tied to a tree branch containing a large bulky object. Upon enquiring as to it's purpose he was told Skippy was kept inside the sack between takes because it was the best way to keep the wild animal "quiet".
"My God," he drawled. "If that's the star of the show's dressing room then I dread to think what you're going to give me!"
¡¡ohh, esa serie me remonta a mi infancia, en ese entonces tenía sólo siete año..!! ¡¡Qué maravillosos tiempos, gracias amigos por el recuerdo!!! Saludos
I'm very sorry to hear of the death of John McCallum, the creator of this wonderful TV series, who passed away this morning (Wed. 3 Feb. 2010) in a Sydney nursing home age 91. He brought much joy to all the children whose life was brightened by the series which was yet another iconic Australian TV production. My condolences to all his family and friends.
I used to love this show. I recently filmed a commercial for a competition in the same national park where skippy was filmed 40 years ago. Check it out and see if you recognize any of the landmarks. It's called PRANKSTERS IN THE PARK.
Oh, that is so cute, especially the last part. I've never been to Australia (or anywhere down under, for that matter), and I'd love to see an episode of this if I ever can. I don't think it's available up here in America, at least that I know of. I can't even find "Crocodile Hunter" anymore since last spring (May, for me). I watched it every chance I got (warmed up considerably to Australia lately), then found out it wasn't on anymore. I am so bugged by that!

I hated this series as a kid, and hate it even more now. Surely he's included in a Roo cull.

The Theme music is quite catchy, also i noticed Skippy seems to have some white hairs around his face? What does this mean? Is he old??

@yorkshireterrier13
Actually Skippy was a girl and they used 7 different roos during the series.

Why is this kangaroo named after peanutbutter? Remember skippy peanutbutter?
beaver371 2 years ago
the Roo is not named after Peanut butter, lol. It might be the other way around... :)
