  • awesome

  • I liked the scene where Skippy played the drums.

I wonder if Skippy ever freaked out whenever someone reached around her with kangaroo paws attached to sticks to do the complex stunt work (eg playing drums, undoing knots, carrying out emergency surgery etc)

  • i was 3 then....omg

  • Gostava muito desse seriado. Brazil. (Good TV time, I like this.)

  • Takes me back to my childhood, thank you.

  • I hated this series as a kid, and hate it even more now. Surely he's included in a Roo cull.

  • I wasnt even born when this came out nice theme..

  • I loved this ! Shit Im fucking old too.

  • JE*US IM GETTING OLD.. oh, happy days.

  • good clean family TV!

  • I know a good story about the production of Skippy.

When the late, great Frank Thring guest starred on the show and first arrived on set he spied a large hessian sack tied to a tree branch containing a large bulky object. Upon enquiring as to it's purpose he was told Skippy was kept inside the sack between takes because it was the best way to keep the wild animal "quiet".

"My God," he drawled. "If that's the star of the show's dressing room then I dread to think what you're going to give me!"

  • I love all the old animal shows, they were so cute and wonderful!

  • We did love this series.

  • This must have been syndicated in the US, because I remember the song.

  • i love how they say bush... bOOOOsh kangaroo :P

  • thats my song :(

  • This was big in England until the late 70s.

  • Aww Skippy is a cute Boy , I can't believe this was made in 1973.

  • @A5HL3YH4LL0W51 nope, at the end of the video is says copyright MCMLXVIII (1968) in roman numerals)

  • @A5HL3YH4LL0W51 1968 according to the copyright credits @0:44

  • @A5HL3YH4LL0W51 skippy is the kangarroo :p

  • @A5HL3YH4LL0W51 This is not from 1973 but from 1968. The serie aired on television from 1966 till 1968.

  • so innocent... sigh! I once went to the set there in the Warratah National Park. Tim Bonner was HOT!

  • @nixatnite HA! I was watching this tonight for the first time in years and I was saying that I bet the chicks really went for that guy!

  • ¡¡ohh, esa serie me remonta a mi infancia, en ese entonces tenía sólo siete año..!! ¡¡Qué maravillosos tiempos, gracias amigos por el recuerdo!!! Saludos

  • Did any of the cast get into Neighbours?>

  • The Theme music is quite catchy, also i noticed Skippy seems to have some white hairs around his face? What does this mean? Is he old??

  • @yorkshireterrier13

Actually Skippy was a girl and they used 7 different roos during the series.

  • I'm very sorry to hear of the death of John McCallum, the creator of this wonderful TV series, who passed away this morning (Wed. 3 Feb. 2010) in a Sydney nursing home age 91. He brought much joy to all the children whose life was brightened by the series which was yet another iconic Australian TV production. My condolences to all his family and friends.

  • Why is this kangaroo named after peanutbutter? Remember skippy peanutbutter?

  • the Roo is not named after Peanut butter, lol. It might be the other way around... :)

  • I used to love this show. I recently filmed a commercial for a competition in the same national park where skippy was filmed 40 years ago. Check it out and see if you recognize any of the landmarks. It's called PRANKSTERS IN THE PARK.

  • OMG how old it makes you feal seing this for the ones that rember it hehehe

  • @kingsta71 ....Lol me too I was 10 in '68, when this big time in the uk!

  • Oh, that is so cute, especially the last part. I've never been to Australia (or anywhere down under, for that matter), and I'd love to see an episode of this if I ever can. I don't think it's available up here in America, at least that I know of. I can't even find "Crocodile Hunter" anymore since last spring (May, for me). I watched it every chance I got (warmed up considerably to Australia lately), then found out it wasn't on anymore. I am so bugged by that!

  • amo a ese ñiño, y quiero volver a ver todas esas peliculas

  • amo a ese presioso niño y quiero volver a ver esas peliculas

  • BTW, it was 1968

  • I loved this show when I was a kid, thanks!
