  • THANK YOU! ARE YOU DOING ANY MORE BOOKS? PLEASE DO!

  • i like your inflection and emphasis. you pause at the right moments and all that. however, your voice itself sounds made up and impersonated. it's obviously good to use some subtly dramatic inflections to capture the mood, and of course to change your voice for different characters, but your natural narrating voice sounds completely made up and it bothers me slightly. still overall its a good job. not trying to be rude, just my opinion.

  • P.S.S. if it is too much to ask, someone please make more like these. I can't stand listening to some of these boring audio books.

  • P.S. I really really really like the fact that you use the music from the films. To me you can't tell the lord of the rings without listening to the music.

  • Ever since I saw the lord of the rings films I have always wanted to read the books but it was always and still is hard for me to read anything. I don't even like listening to some of the audio books just because the guy reading it was so boring. Now that this Phil guy has made this original and entertaining way of telling the lord of the rings I think will be able to understand my favorite story.

  • is this is actual book?

  • whats the difference btw urs and original version=?

  • @LordPlautus All of the reading and editing has been done by Phil, this is nearly as original as it gets ;)

  • did u put in MUSIC? or was it there already?

  • I just wanted to tell you Bravo! My girlfriend and I have been enjoying the work you've done for about a week. You are tremendously talented and are really bringing the story to life. We started listening to the "Ingles" version but discovered it was not complete :( We found yours and are going to start over now, listening to yours while we await your next installment. I hope this brings you much attention. Thank you sincerely.

  • Your reading gives me chills in such a marvelous way

  • thanks so much for doing this.

  • I don't suppoe that it is any coincedence that The Hobbit begins with "An Unexpected Party" and The FOTR begins with "A Long Expected Party"?

  • This is wonderful! As stated above, this endeavor has captured the feel of the movies with the complete content of the books. Will you be posting the Return of the King as well?

  • Wonderful job, seriously, really good :) Thank you for uploading ~PG~

  • yes get a job as a VA for audio books I bay

    it

  • you have a very excelent idea for audio book adeptations!, I don't see why you don't try to get a job as a VA for audio books, or for TV shows, your an excelent talent that can get a good following, imho.

  • this is a message for thoose listening now

the begining of the book starts out alittle slow so have patience and give it time its good regaurdless but soon you will be sucked in and wont wanna stop you will find your self in a day or two loveing the lord of the rings more then ever!

  • You sir are a man of great talent. great job.

  • You sir are a man of great talent. great job.

  • this is awesome. seriously. Please tell me you did all 3 novels.

  • great work my friend thank you so much and the music is excellent as well :)

  • This is the only resume you'll ever need, man. This is an exceptional fan endeavor. It has the feel of the films but the entire content of the book. A thrilling combination.

  • @kirkafur3 why, thank you Kirk! Thank you very much!

  • @PhilsStuffofDoom

you legend. well done, well done.

  • Amazing work! I actually went to Amazon to try to find this for myself to keep as a CD set. And to my surprise they didn't have it. So I came back to youtube to find the name of the production - which of course turned out to be a very talented youtuber. Wow! You sir, Phil Dragash I salute. Have you ever considered voice-work or have you done any? I work in the video games - and you would be hired in a second.

  • It would be great if you had like, subtitles that showed us what you're reading exactly, because sometimes the pronounciations of words are barely anything like how they're spelt. Well done, nonetheless! :D

  • @COZYTW yeah, well this was my first try at it, and since then I've re-read it. Maybe that re-read version will make more sense. You can download it on MP3.

    thanks for your complement too!

  • From the wee bit I've heard already it's really cool dude! Coming from this 49 yr old mexican dude who digs the movies. Somebody tell me all three books are on here? Peace and Love from Central California (love this story man, great job...:-)

  • nice good job dude

  • Absolutely Brilliant...... gonna listen to it all.

  • The MP3 link isn't working for me. D: Oh well, at least it's all on here. This really is fantastic.

  • YOU'RE AMAZING!

    Thank You!

  • ITS OVER 9000 VIEWS!!!

  • you'r great, maybie you should submit you'r work to publishers. You may find yourself reading a best seller. My book is comeing out next year, and would love you to read it :)

  • @Beast123The I read it, and mixed the sound effects, and music into it (and provided a lot of sound effects from scratch too). Among other things.... so yes, I "did" it.

  • @PhilsStuffofDoom This is fantastic! GREAT JOB!

  • thank you very much. i look forward to listening to this.

  • @Beast123The hmm? What might you mean, dear sir?

  • Amazing, the music adds such epic effect to it.

  • This is a COOL audiobook recording of this novel! It's got music, and ambiance! This is AMAZING!

  • Your reading style is great. It sounds very conversational, which is a great skill to have in audiobook narration. I liked the voices and music beds. Great job!

  • It seems like more than an audio book.. with the voices and the music.. epic.

  • three Orcs disliked the video.

  • is this unabridged? (sorry for the stupid question) heh.

  • @KitsyQ yup!

  • @PhilsStuffofDoom You finished the recording yet?

  • @PhilsStuffofDoom this is really good :)

  • nice post

  • Youtube should send an electric shock through the dislike button of this video!

  • Phill...you have done an amazing work! As Peter Jackson has done wonders with the film..you have done the same to the audio book( u r like d PJ of the audio book!) Your voice is like that of an elf!!(seriously) and by far this is the best LOTR audio book ever! I am sure the coming generations would love and prefer your audiobook than the older ones!

Keep up the good work and God bless! :-)

  • whoever disliked this is a person that has no business watching anyways! he mustve gotten lost looking for the slowest and oldest, boring audiobook!

  • @motjon yeah

  • O.O WOW! I love this!!! It's like the WHOLE book in the characters from the film! And I love the films.... On to the next reading :3

  • Better than Rob Inglis.

  • i just had to sub and comment this is relli nice and such a good idea top rating for you :) tho i have to admit iv only listened to this vid so far i'll be listening to the rest later

  • WOW! I Like how you used Howard Shores Music in this I was thinking of doing something like this

    LORD OF THE RINGS FTW!!!

  • This is an excellent quality reading. I am hooked on it and would love to download it to listen to on my iPod. Only problem is I can't seem to download anything before chapter 5 (I know the link is in the description but chapters 1-4 all seem to have dead links). Am I doing something wrong or has it been removed? Congrats on an excellent reading though.

  • come on man just to all of the fotr please you are more talented then most of the other people that have audiobooks heck it sounds more like an audio drama

  • epic intro: The Lord of the Rings!!!!!!

    *long pause*

    oh yeah, by J.R.R Tolkein

    Hhahaha

  • If this were online to download, with the option to pay, I would pay without hesitation. I loved the books, and never heard an audio book that captured a story so well. Thanks for posting what's got to be the product a lot of hard work; can't wait for it to be completed!

  • haha awwiie i love it <3 youre great

  • wtf disliked this?!?!?!?!

    why i oughta......

  • A BRILLIANT production by Phil Dragash, an immensely talented "amateur" (as in "not being paid") who I am sure will not remain an amateur much longer after these readings begin getting the attention they deserve. Dragash has bought about the fulfillment of youtube's highest purpose- the airing of individual creativity that would otherwise go "unpublished."

  • @cat9ramos youtube had a purpose! WOW!!!!!! all ive seen on youtube excluding this was a bunch of terrible comedy by the likes of shane dawson celebrity stalkers and people who are way to obssesed with the media and a few videogame videos so youtube... purpose... no. but Phil Dragash has a pupose as much as Tolkien had his purpose.

  • Fantastic audio and video montage :D Really like it!

  • @ELTORO619 I'd love to give them to you, but I'm afraid it's a work-in-progress. However I have completed the first two chapters, and a chapter from "The Two Towers", and the link for the mp3 is in the description section.

  • @PhilsStuffofDoom yr pritty good you should do more of these

  • THANKS FOR UPLOADING!
