I think part of the reason that he was lagging a little in speed is because Niel's drums are more numerous and more of an even incline. I know that isn't the only reason, but it could play a factor.

This absolutely freaking ruled. I am a Neil Peart devotee but this only goes to show both the professionalism and musicianship of both Rush and the Foo Fighters. I really disliked (and continue to dislike) Nirvana but Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have done some impressive material AND paid homage to most of their heroes including Rush, Queen, Led Zeppelin. I bet they sit on top of the world and you know, it really shows. Great job F.F. and Rush.

Foo Fighters are rock, Rush is prog rock. They are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT genres with two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT sounds. Trying to compare the two only makes you look like a complete tool. If you like one and not the other, cool, that's your view. But don't hate on the fans or the members of either band for it. Neil Peart and Taylor Hawkins are both extremely skilled drummers, and Neil has many years of experience on Taylor, so he has the advantage right there.

I wouldn't say he sucks but I wouldn't slobber all over him either. He rushed the temp big time, pun actually not intended, and played it safe. Not that many can mimic Peart well, but there were lots of places where he should have been using toms but stuck to the basic rythme. It was a pretty basic attempt at YYZ for someone playing venues like the foo fighters. I agree he doesn't suck, but he is far from being really really good. But good for him he played w Alex & Geddy, that'd b a thrill
