  • Stupid Mortal Kombat 3 had region lock too for only ntsc fuking genesis system. Fuck u Genesis.

  • Been looking for a list like this as I've just bought a Sega Nomad, Thanks man!

  • Comix zone ,streets of rage 2 ,streets of rage 3 all have lockouts ,I know cuz I have those games and both PAL and NTSC systems

  • Sega 6 Pak

  • Do you know if a unlocked genesis can play any locked japanese game? Mine has "high definition graphics" and EXT port. Thank you.

  • @tonmasboy No or you have to region mod it and set ut to Japanese region. On the model 1 system be it genesis or megadrive this is fairly easy.

Widening your cartridge slot is also needed for a genesis.

  • do the very first, original model 1 genesis's have a region lock or was that added when they started forcing the "THIS GAME WAS PRODUCED BY SEGA" intro screen?

  • @videogameobsession I would not be able to tell you. All the model 1s I own are megadrives and the do have the region lock out, at least a range of game carts do.

I have yet to acquire a model 1 or 2 genesis.

  • @videogameobsession well, the first japanese megadrive had a switch behind to lock-out region..is that you intent to know about?

  • @tonmasboy Nope, know nothing about the first generation of Japanese megadrives and whether they had a switch or not but I did discover more games to have a region lock out than what was commonly believed. Often it is stated that only a couple of older games do the check but it is quite a few more.

  • @markvergeer Sorry, a model of japanese megadrive called (HAA-2510) was easy to take out region lockout and putting a mod switch behind or wherever you want to return the region lockout on. I saw one this for sale and thought it was genuine. Well, this can run japanese, usa, Brazilian I dont know about european games, but is good alternative for megakey or game genie codes.

  • Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure

  • Dat is wel heel vervelend.

  • @pokerockmario123 Dat kan inderdaad. Het verschil is met name PAL vs NTSC en niet zozeer US, EU en JAP.

Indeed it sucks, sometimes. It mostly is PAL vs NTSC and not so much US, EU vs JAP

  • Informative. Why not be on camera while saying it, though? Or narrate?

  • @nathanallan1 Oh I do that plenty enough. Besides this was created late at night.

  • @markvergeer I know you do, just had to ask. Glad it isn't because anything is broken.

  • Thanks for making this list. Quite useful. :)

  • wow, i have been lucky until now. Damn Thunderforce IV?! i was planning getting one japanese version...

  • Thanks for doing that, I wasn't sure about the region locking so I'll be sure to check the list if I find a Genesis cart.

  • Yes I still cannot play my Genesis Xmen because of this crap :( Cheers dude :)

  • @atombat That must hurt. You could create a tv mode switch on a model 1 machine. Fairly easy mn12bird recently did a video and showed us how.

  • Mark thanks for posting this list i wasn't sure about all of this lock-out business on Mega Drive/Genesis carts and now i know.

  • @jboypacman It is mostly pal vs ntsc. The best genesis / megadrive console is a jap NTSC one with the locking lever removed and with switches for region and refresh rate. I have a pal Asian megadrive 2 and a NTSC model 1 jap megadrive and that combo combined plays all those carts.

  • @markvergeer Have you shown this unit in one of your videos because i would love to see it.
