"Icarus is a character in Greek Mythology who loses his wings when he flies too close to the sun. Icarus and his father were imprisoned on an island and determined to escape by constructing themselves wings and flying from captivity. During their escape, Icarus deviated from the careful lead of his father, flying too high, where the sun melted the wax holding his wing’s feathers together. As a result, Icarus fell from the sky and drowned in the ocean below."

Variations of the myth include Icarus flying too low to the water and being weighted down by moisture or Icarus falling overboard the boat that his father built (as opposed to him building wings). Either way, the moral is to do what your told to do in order to survive. Pushing the envelope is gambling with one's own life.

Either the person who pointed out that the first two or three letters of the title spells "satanic" has way too much time on his hands, is still spooked by the Geogaddi duration or the main maestros of Boards of Canada wanted to mess with our heads again. Whatever be the reason, this song is still my personal favorite from an album I truly enjoy.

This particular track, and majority of BoC's catalog for that matter, only promotes peace, love, and understanding. It's audible enlightenment. If we want change, it comes from within ourselves. Life doesn't have to be this shitty (RE: bourgeoisie).
