Also, I agree with your other post about Red House from San Diego (off the old Hendrix in the West).....tough call between that and NY Pop....as a kid I'd listen to them both over and over trying to decide; as an adult, I realized they're both like fine wines. Isle of Wight Red House is powerful, too, but somewhat less clean.

I've always considered the opening solo in "Power of Soul" (Band of Gypsy's) to be the yardstick by which all other solos should be measured. But this is really good...more of a jam, though.

The greatest solo Hendrix ever played (IMHO) was the Machine Gun take from the Fillmore East show on January 1st that appears on The Band of Gypsys Live recording from 1970. The two sustained notes he plays to launch that solo are epic...
