  • My favorite band I won't be going to see at Invesco ..how could that even begin to expose the spirituality and soul this band exudes, as does Red Rocks. This video is proof. I only wish they could leave the money and materialism behind, forget time, dig deep, deep as their music , choose venues that produce who they are and what they say. They constantly take us on spiritual quests, make us question our actions. I pose this question to U2 as a means of staying true......

  • seen the war tour in 1983 or 4 at glasgow barrowlands or at the appollo cant remember the venue will always remember the band

  • yep must have been 83 well before red rocks - anyway this was the best stuff - war etc. i will follow /out of control /gloria /sunday bloody sunday there are good choons later but feel they lost there passion a bit trying to make it in america

  • Yeah..think you're right.....this concert was kick ass but after 1990 they levelled off and since 2000 that passion you mentioned has fizzled out...I hope they are not trying to better than the Beatles as Bono once hinted at.

  • the biggest band in the world that is TRUE!

  • september 24th NY

  • I road tripped and had tickets lol but chose not to go to the reschedule the cold I remember and the rain....but also the best canceled concert i'ver ever been to :)

  • This started it all for me. Yes, U2 are this good live!!! Amazing live band. The best ever in my opinion! I have seen them 9 or 10 times, and will see them again opening in Chi town!

  • im goin to the show on the 13th in chicago

    chicago kicks ass

  • Superbe vidéo !^^ merci beaucoup.

    J'adore:)

  • good tunes

  • Man these guys are awsome!

  • no more!

  • Been to many red rocks concerts, wish I was at thid one.=

  • I was at this show, I was 17 and it was cold as hell, but it was great, saw them the next night too at the make up gig in Boulder

  • I can't stand the ol' guys running 'round like they're still sleek rockers, but they were great. No lefty politics and that rot, just good sound. O'l days.

  • I'm not quite sure why you addressed me as "moron," though my experience has been that those who communicate in such low-brow fashion are dealing with various personal insecurities and mental issues. Did Mommy spank you a bit too vigorously? If Mommy did more than that with you, forget I asked, but do work through it with somebody who cares or is professionally trained in such things. Ciao.

  • From Wikipedia: Bloody Sunday............ "Thirteen people, seven of whom were teenagers, died immediately, while the death of another person 4½ months later has been attributed to the injuries he received on the day. Two protesters were injured when they were run down by army vehicles. Many witnesses, including bystanders and journalists, testify that all those shot were unarmed. Five of those wounded were shot in the back."

  • Red rocks is the best place to see a show.

  • man, when they wrote actual songs, before achtung baby stepped in and ruined it. THIS IS THE REAL U2!

  • Best protest song ever. It fits any time period where injustice is happening in the world.

  • Man this was a while back. This performance is bloody good.

  • such an amazing voice! one of my favourites songs ever.

  • Frickin' classic!!!

  • Até me ensinou o porque dessa canção . xD

  • ive seen shows at red rocks as well. it is the best. i wish i could go back in time and see this one. u2 is still the biggest band in the world.

  • Ahh, these were the days, back when Bono was just a musician and not a politician.

  • Nah I'm glad he's speaking up. He's not a politician he's just telling us politicians aren't doing their jobs correctly.

  • It's nice to see Bono without his glasses and The Edge without his beenie cap

  • This video sticks in my head as a kid. The new wave of bands of witch U2 had the most substance. Bold.

  • I have been to many shows at Red Rocks. I have moved around before settling in Colorado - Red Rocks is the best place to see a show anywhere.

  • This would be my show of choice to goto, if I could go back and see one....

  • Briljant!!

  • Powerful song & Performance! Gives me goosebumps.

  • i need help, when i play videos it stucks and pause many times, can anyone suggest somthing?

  • better internet connection

  • best sunday bloody sunday version ever!!!!!!!!

  • wow look how young they are...always a kickass band.

  • I was the video tech on this concert with U-2. A special memory even after 25 years! It made a big impression on me :-)I will have to get the remastered DVD to see what they did to my video! I'm sure they used modern technology to improve it.

  • No, you weren't.

  • Weren't what? I was there...were you?

  • I was there,,backstage.... 40 degree temp...

all fans were offered another concert the following night in Boulder!

    Rock on U2!!

  • I remember a lot of the lighting was shorted out by the moisture. What did come on was augmented by the follow spots and made for a really great look! I was in the Video Truck.

  • I am not trying to be a smartarse but you say you were there and it was 40 degree temp, but why is that you can see the breath of the U2 band members as if it were a cold night? .. Just curious, and be free to call me a dipshit if i have missed something here :)

  • 40 degrees F...dipshit. That's pretty friggin cold.

  • Well if someone over here says 40 degree temperature, that is normally in reference to heat because we measure in Celsius not Fahrenheit, hence my mistake.

  • Yeah it was cold, I snuck in by walking the long way through the woods. I got to about the third row stage left right as this song came on.

  • Woods? No woods to sneak through getting into RR. There's huge monoliths, and sagebrush & rock, then the amphitheater built into the monoliths. Maybe you rockclimbed in & scaled down hah. Wish they were playing 7 shows at RR instead of one at Invesco :(

  • I use the term "woods" llosely of course. And you are right no trees just rocks and sage brush. But I surely crawled in and made near the front row to stage right. I was nineteen... .

  • Best concert of my life no doubt. Wasn't sure it was happening that day given the weather, but the radio station (KBCO?) said it was a go. It wasn't 'til after that we realized the concert was going to happen because of all the production equipment they had on hand. Don't know how the Edge played given how cold it was. And yeah, the band felt bad so they gave a second show the next night in Boulder at the Event Center. U2 rocks!

  • e é verdade que somos imunes

    quando o fato é ficção e a tv realidade

    e hoje milhões choram

nós comemos e bebemos enquanto amanhã eles morrem

    a verdadeira batalha começou

para reivindicar a vitória que Jesus conquistou

    domingo, sangrento domingo

  • i love them

  • This came out THIS week with EXTRA songs (one shirtless one too for those who care) on DVD including the Under the Blood Red Sky album REMASTERED...You can buy both in one box for 24 bucks and it is AWESOME>...spread the word....

  • god i love this band so much

  • Uauuu, umbelieved, when I first saw that video, about 5 years ago, I don´t remember, I got so excited about the place and the energy, I didn´t know why, and for me it was in Europe this concert. I´m from SAo Paulo, Brazil and this year I´m living in Denver and yesterday I went to Red Rocks and I loved the stage, after I found out U2 recorded Sunday Blood Sunday there, I couldn´t beleive, I went to that place and it´s amazing, imagine with U2...I´d like to travel to the past!!!

  • Hey RED ROCKS U2 now out this week on DVD for the first time, remastered with EXTRA songs...plus if you get the deluxe version with the Remastered Under a Blood Red Sky album it is only 24 bucks and it is awesome...(during ONE of the extra songs Bono is shirtless if that matters to ya!) Just thought you should know....:)

  • moh massa

  • LOVE this song, and it makes a great statement about war. And Bono is sexy as HELL...nice butt! Nice everything (voice too *smile*)

  • I live in Denver, and I must say that Red Rocks is a very spectacular venue. I heard that they stopped lighting up the flames.

  • i love u2!!

  • aw think you;)

    thank god we have youtube

  • Rocks!

  • Respect!

  • whats the song about (something to do with the easter rising?)

  • 30.01.1972...bloody sunday :-((

in Derry 14 Irish were killed by british troops......

when you listen to the song at slane castle, Bono mentions the name of those

  • Its about when the british army opened fire on unarmed peaceful protestors killing 18 people.

  • it was actualy 14 people

  • SHHHHHHH. 11.

  • my mom had the chance to go to this concert. but it was sooo cold she decided not to. wow she sure missed out!! This concert was epic. i wish i could have been alive to see it!

  • this takes me back to my teenage years.I love this stuff.

  • OH how I wish I was old enough to be a part of this experience!!! Love U2 and love Red Rocks!!!!

  • My favourite song, Sunday bloody sunday.

    say No more!

  • I was @ Red Rocks that cold, foggy June night. What a trip!!! The helicoper was flying over us to capture the event for TV. Everytime I see the video, it takes me back. What an experience. I'm now in my 50's and am excited that I was there!!!

  • i´m 13, i´m now a great u2 fan. i hope one day go to a u2 concert and tell my experience like you did.

  • wow, this was the gig that made them in the US... respect !

  • their early stuff is still the best to me!!!

  • I love red rocks!

  • Cantem guerreiros!

    warriors sing!

    Belo Horizonte Brazil!

  • 25 years ago today. Red Rocks June 5th 1983

  • Still very relevant today, How long must we sing this song?

  • ujams: Yes, it is unfortunately. It has probably been relevant somewhere in the world since it was recorded. One of my favorites songs in my lifetime. My life has been touched by "almost wars" to whatever the hell the US is calling the situation at the moment. The Cuban missle Crisis, Viet Nam and all the other things in between. Some days is it just more than enough. Peace to you and yours. :)

  • Holy cow was I in love with Bono and U2 during this time...I almost passed out the first time I saw this video...lol. Oh God, the old days, I miss 'em.

U2, there's noboby like them! Love you guys!

  • Cheryl1965: Yes, the good old days!! The good old days for many things are always on my mind anymore. :) If you are still "swooning" over U2, there is something that is pretty awesome out about them now. If the 3D IMAX movie comes to your area that National Geographic and U2 made...it is something that will seem like you are at a concert and you will leave with a renewed love of this them. :) Easier to get into a concert these days and as close as you can get and it was only 12 bucks. Peace :)

  • esse foi o melhor show da história deles!!

  • I love U2

  • EPIC yes...other EPIC Red Rock Concerts.... Jimi Hendrix Experience 68...Beatles 64...Jethro Tull 70..( welcome To world war 3!) riot at Red Rocks

  • I love this!

  • Back to old schools...*sigh*

  • epic

  • epic

  • alive now, how were my comments gay insults? maybe you are a little bit homophobic, or latent?

  • I am 44 years old and I only hope younger adults that enjoy their music today, can look at their older stuff and appreciate it. No other band has ever moved me as they have. If I ever in my life can get a concert ticket before they sell out, I will see them! I have been trying for over 20 years to see them in concert! One Day, maybe a Bloody Sunday! :-)

  • I am almost 40 and I have only seen them once. (1987) Apparently a Man 'does NOT cry' My woman at the time bought us tickets for Joshua tour and we bumped into the 'boy' that sang for Simple Minds and the guys from the Alarm (who???!!!)

Who cares - they are a great band - it's only the bass player that's ever let them down....

  • the bass player as you say, has not let them down. The Alarm was an anthem band that was psuedo righteous, more like stryper. why do you mention running into Jim? are you just a dildo sort of fringe groupie almost wannabe name dropper fantasy land lad?

  • Why does your reply end in such gay insults Lad?

The secular middle class bass player you 'adam'ently (name drop lad) defend - paid fines to beaten wifes in America and regularly didnt turn up for gigs (red rocks period) and was covered for. The Alarm and Minds were there in 1987 at the NEC (Name dropping?! LOL) Its obviously ALL a fantasy LAD....

The only people on earth with 'names to drop' are those that the sheep put on pedestals. You a shepherd or a lamb of god? God lives boy...

  • so you are putting U2 on a pedastal as some sort of sheperds? lol you follow popularity than rather than truth. Bono wore a headband a few tours ago with the red crescent, cross, and star of David on it saying they are all one. He let them down if anybody did, it you are talking about it from a Biblical perspective, ps your use of the word lad sounds a bit affected.

  • they were such better performers in the eighties. this is proof i saw them four times and the last usa tour was so cookie cutter. but they are still one the best bands of our times

  • I wish I had been there for this, too bad I was a little over a year from being born. Either way, one of the top 5 live perfomances I have ever seen. On the other hand I have been to Red Rocks and it is really a unique and amazing place I would love to go there and see a live performance.

  • Brilliant song, great video!

  • "the Peace of Christ does NOT first need a terrible Armeggedon to happen first"

---> rofl. dude, please proofread your comments before posting them.

  • Christ is a Divine Consciousness within,

and the Peace of Christ does NOT first need a terrible Armeggedon to happen first

    in order to come !

  • Apparently, the Bible didn't help your grammar.

  • this live is part of legend of rock now...

  • too bad peace on earth will never happen

  • oh contrair monfrair...Jesus Christ will bring peace after armageddon..believe

  • God is just an idol hanging on the wall

God is hollow comfort for the sick and the poor

There is no God, only pain and disease

The aliens who made us have long since disappeared

  • your loss.

  • Bravo!

  • Certo, avrei voluto dire la stessa cosa.

    come no

    avoja

  • best u2 live-perform ever

  • greatest rock band without a doubt! love larry's drums in this one

  • I like Bonos hair, I think back then he looked so cute in his mullet. Loved the video too

  • Still as great as the first time I seen it 20 some years ago, and now I realize Bono is wearing all black, gotta love me some U2!

  • What a song.

  • this is my fave song from U2 - ROCK!! - **wipe your tears away**

  • And to think this iconic concert was nearly cancelled due to the bad weather!!

  • Is it just me or is that an AC/DC shirt Bono's wearing?

  • Uh... try 'U2'.

  • That's a U2 tour-shirt he's wearing.

  • this is the most beautiful i ever seen! I love this one!

  • COOL

  • FUCK! I really want that Strat The Edge is using there. Fuckin' awesome tone and it's fuckin' beautiful as well.

  • Best live performance U2 ever did.

  • This is U2's best song ever! Its my favorite song!

  • Recorded u must said.

  • remember watching this live on the Tube-brilliant

  • FREE DERRY

  • What from ?

  • Anyone got a link to where I can watch this entire concert? Some of the parts are missing from this sight.

  • I live right near red rocks, and this venue is amazing. This show would have been awesome, but Tool and King Crimson are my favorites so far.

  • I heard Stevie Nicks live at Red Rocks in 1986 was amazing.

  • this song is oneof the best songs in the world and it has got a story behind it

  • this song is one of the best songs ever!!!

  • u2 sucks

  • (That's what you should have told culatra2)

  • And lastly but most importantly. Thank you Cherrry for posting this Vid, what a sensational venue Red Rocks is! Gosh wish I cud have been there....I cud see Queen playing there, mind you the setting wud make any band look good. Stay the course Bono, some of us, not wealthy, believers in making the world a better place are behind you! Canada salutes you!

  • And as to your comment Condaly, you shud take a course in Economics. Wealth, wisely invested provides more wealth. And Wealth is Power. With power and wealth you can make a difference for the good of all mankind. Don't begrudge him his 1000sterling a night hotels, if your foot was in the shoe you wudn't be whingeing! The jobs it creates, the families who rely on those jobs to raise their children, send them to University/College. Take a course in economics, and then pass an intelligent comment!

  • As a lifelong (and old) U2 fan I'm with Utoo - U2387, Look what Paul Hughes has done with Bill Gates and his Foundation, and with Warren Buffet and his fortune on board, Bono is trying. You can't wipe out poverty and prejudice in a generation, but you can work towards helping others less fortunate. I'm not sure about all the self-absorbed "azzholes" you speak of U2387, do you know who does or doesn't give to charity? I certainly don't! We're only aware of those who do so publicly.

  • I dont feel sorry for u huuballawick. bekause ur an idiot.

  • Now uv started readin dis dunt stop. This is so scary. Send this to 5 ova videos in 143 minutes. When ur done press F6 and ur crushes name will appear on the screen in big letters. This is scary cause it actually works. If u break the chain u will have problems with relations p.s for the next five years x-x-x

  • I grew up and lived in Colorado all but the one year of my life. red rocks is the best place to see a concert, period!

  • Ok, a few facts-it was U2's publishier, not Bono who made the decision to move assets to the Netherlands, and where have you been the past 25 yrs Bono has been donating his time, money and voice to the causes of the most vulnerable in the world? find a famous person more generous, most are self absorbed assholes- he uses his fame to shed light the vulnerable-you go do better- pay attention, his money and commitment are right where his mouth is.

  • He might be devoting his time but he certainly ain't devoting his money. Irish people are pissed of hearing how much we should be contributing to the 3rd world from someone who's not willing to pay taxes himself. I also notice his pontificating usually takes place when the band is not touring, wouldn't want to interfere with that money making now, would we!

  • Bono is a Hypocrite he goes on about poverty and meanwhile he has a couple of hundred million in the bank and avoids paying takes, he has a Hotel in Ireland that charges a 1000 pounds a night! How can anyone take this prat seriously! Put Your money where your mouth is you pretentious twat!

  • Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

seriously, who really gives a shit? Either you like the music or you don't.

  • i live 5 miles from red rocks & speaking from

experiance you can only see a show like this in

    colorado! p.s go broncos!!!

  • This song is so great. It gives me chills everytime I listen to it. The words are so emotional and strong. It makes me proud but also sad to be Irish.

  • Lennon's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" was a much better and more direct song. Not that this one is bad. But Lennon's statement was much stronger. At least this was Bono before he went totally self absorbed. And minus those sunglasses. I remember meeting these guys at WBCN IN late 82/early 83 just before War came out in the US. After that they were HUGE!

  • john lennon ?? i cant find it on youtube help pls

  • John Lennon was a moronic peacenik who with the help of that bitch Yoko Ono destroyed The Beatles...F'em both!

  • I normally don't post negative comments, but you, Hockeyguy17, must be a warmongering, facking iijeeot. Dissing John Lennon? Up your arse! You probably don't even know what this U2 song is about.

  • feckin love the boots!!

  • edge looks really young...and with hair!

  • I wished U2 would watch this occasionally. This is pretty simple production wise, a good rock show doesn't need so much video, effects and what not. Just good songs played well by a band that has passion.

If you ever get a chance to see a show at Red Rocks, just west of Denver, by all means do.

  • u2's shows always rock hard... and the effects suit them so shut up

  • The weather played a huge part in this show. It had rained all day long, but the lads decided to go on anyway. There was this incredible fog all around, bonfires on the rocks, helicopters flying over, and U2's soaring music. Probably the best concert I ever saw.

  • I envy...you are extremely lucky....the best band of the world.
