The biggest reason people misunderstand us trans folk is because they look at the definitions for sex and see it speaks of the physical only. This definition originated when sex was observed in plants in the 1600s. But plants don't have brains. Study of the human mind didn't really start until Freud's time in the early 20th century. Sex didn't include the mental for humans because of the way our world was in the past. We need to realize it's not trans people who are wrong but the definitions.
@amygurl63 I really dislike Julie Bindal and her bigotry, but I don't think throwing a slur at her (dyke) is helpful. In fact, it's quite hypocritical. Don't misrepresent the transcommunity by stooping to the same level as her. Also, I live in San Francisco, and there is more unity amongst trans and gay people here, although there are still some problems among groups. Not all of the gay community is bigoted/discriminatory against transpeople.
Poor widdle white boy. He and his bros have disenfranchised and oppressed women and minorities for thousands of years and feels so entitled to it, that if he's told to take his foot off our necks, we're apparently taking away HIS right to lord over us. Misandry btw, originates from word misanthrope which means the hatred of man - as in mankind, not men. As Carl Sagan said, there has never been any word in the English language which means the hatred of men.
I always look at the underdog and Julie indirectly did provoke interest on trans issues expressing things many thought at the time even my own ignorance but we need to move on through conversation education and integrity... its the witch hunt I despise~ always easy to target women or minority... its perception to realise the who what when and where...Target the real ISSUES Governmental law, NHS etc which really prevent open minds and progressive behaviours...
you have read about the research which strongly indicates that transwomen have womens brains and transmen have mens? its hardly quackery, its an exciting new area of study. no-one is 'correcting' the 'mistake' the body is being changed to fit the brain, if the 'mistake' was being 'corrected' the brain would be changed to fit the body and that would be barbaric as we'd be destroying peoples minds to keep them in line with taboos
no-one said the physical sex of the transperson actually changed to become the gender they are. you go from their gender rather than sex because someones gender (which is decided by their brain) is mopre important. the brain is you. the body is a vessel. you gotta be a teally horrible person to try and stop people changing their body to amke themselves as comfy as possible.
the state isnt forcing you to call someone by their proper pronoun, people sense of pilitness is. if you cant handle calling someone the correct pronoun even for politnesses sake your pretty damn broken. the surgeries are not elective, transpeople who dont egt the surgeries tend to kill themselves in massive numbers. you cant understand because your not trans, do the decent thing and take their word for how it feels.
i have heard nothing about legally forcing people to use particular pronouns under pain of jail. i do however feel that deliberatly calling a transperson by their birth sex should be treated like calling a gay person a faggot or a black person a nigger. oh and autogynophilia is a pretty discreditted 'theory'. and lesbian transwomen are as real as straight ones.
get a bunch of scientists from different parts of the world to find a lot of evidence that you are actually brad pitt (and have that evidence peer reviewed and checked)and you might have a case.
clever way to get out of being a bigot. claim that the people you are bigotted against dont actually exist. i look forward to that ebign tried out in a court of law or by the kkk.
goodbye and i beg you, for the good of the species. do not breed.
WHERE does the trans community want to be? most times they see themselves as separate from the Gay rights movement, yet many times they want to usurp the gains the gay community has gotten by complaining they are not included, as this video comment says, they have SO MANY different groups even within their own Trans community.
look up the stonewall riots. trans people have been in the cause since day1, they kicked the modern gay rights movement off by fighting back against cops that night.
what bindel said was a secular version of what iris robinson said about gay people. robinson was bigot of the year, bindel was nominated for journalist of the year. the trans communities anger at the modern stonewall organisation is warranted.
Thank you for protesting Bindel's absurd award. It disgusts me that GLBT organizations have their heads up their behinds when it comes to legitimizing bigots like Bindel (as if Stonewall really didn't know how offensive her remarks were). Of course she's a transphobe, every bit as much as Germaine Greer, Mary Daly or Janice Raymond are transphobes. It's disgusting when people parade their personal bigotries under the guise of liberation movements.

do some reading. the science currently points toward transpeople literally having the brain of one sex and body of another.
