@d4du88 If you listen carefully, you can hear at the same time you see the flames, the “Rev Limiter” hitting. When the Rev Limiter is working, it shuts off the spark plugs and fuel in different cylinders to keep the engine from over revving and destroying itself. But the Rev-Limiter does leave small amounts of unburned fuel that finds itself in the hot exhaust and then ignites into cool looking flames out the pipes.

yeah they do have that diesel sound, but damn they haul ars! I understand that Porsche drops their revs by 2K to extend the life of car. One you mod the car and get past that these things they take on a different flavor . They then sound like stock cars. Nice car

nahh, my uncle got a porsche and of coruse, being me, had to look at the exhaust, there actually is quite a lot of piping, plus they somehow fit three mufflers under that car stock.

I love how people laugh at the idle. Not only is the idle badass, but you people should know better. If it sounds extremely low and deep, or if it has a loppy idle, it's not because it's crappy; it's because it is running aggressive cams and straight pipes and will probably blow the doors of whatever it is you are driving.

this is usually due to a flat-plane crankshaft...although since porsches use a boxer engine, they would be flat plane anyway.

what would the crank have to do with the sound? The high compression pistons give it the high pitched sound similar to some Honda motors. Headers/exhaust will also play a big part as well...
