  • 1. NOFX started in 1983

    2. This "Jim" guy had nothing to do with the formation of the band. NOFX was formed by Fat Mike and Eric Melvin.

    3. They're still going strong, writing a new album for a late 2012 release and I am seeing them live in June. I seriously doubt they broke up.

  • @Dincorta

    Someone doesn't understand a joke.

  • @EyelessSurfacing666 It's not an obvious joke if you don't know the band. For all I knew he was serious, and that shit makes him look like an idiot. But now I know it was apparently meant as a joke... so yeah whatever.

  • My dad intorduced me to NOFX when I was five.

    True story.

  • @VenomousWhale your dad is my hero.

  • Streetlight rules. NOFX rules. I have loved both bands for years and years. After seeing this video, nothing has changed. Bicker amongst yourselves you ignorant heathens, us true descendants of the glorious age of non trolling and true music will continue to enjoy our eclectic musical tastes.

  • @DaNo44 holy crap, I love you. need more of us out there!

  • Good cover but that guy is a proper bullshiter, NoFX were founded in 1983 and there has never been anyone called "Jim" in NoFX, and no they never split up, only got new members.

  • @ILOVER4NC1D lol i believe that was called a 'joke', and nofx added hefe in like the early 90s and havent changed since. im not one for busting balls but c'mon lol

  • this version is so much better than the album one (99 songs of revolution, i'm not talking about the NOFX one)

  • I can kinda dig this although I think it's a little brash covering a band's signature song. And I don't know if they misinterpreted or changed the lyric but it's all about the original, "dog named Dog".

  • @myoung105 Its a dog named bob

  • @npooley13 Yeah, listened back to the album version and it is Bob. My bad. He says "Dog" a lot when they play it live so that was where I got confused . . . derp! Guess it was Fat Mike who changed the original lyric. What an asshole.

  • @myoung105 I've noticed three lyric changes that Mike has made when he sings live:

1)Dog named bob changed to dog named dog

2)Pocket full of change changed to pocket full of shit

3)Signing gibberish changed to singing GBH

What a prick that Mike is...He does this alot if you listen to the they still suck live version of what's the matter with kids today he changes some lyrics in there too. Good times!!

  • @myoung105

Fat mike an asshole for changing a lyric? Its his fucking song, He can do whatever he wants to it, He wrote it.

  • Love that he jokes about nofx. and how NO ONE got it.

  • @LostPilgram i dont get it

  • Don't take this the wrong way, but I always get the feeling Toh Kay needs to clear his throat.

  • I love ska and punk, and to me, this cover was done well.

  • I'll take Abe Schmidt's uke cover over these guy's ska-ish one. And NOFX, for those of you who don't know, after 11 studio albums, 24 EP's, & a hand full of other releases, ALL on indie labels, are still going strong, and have been since 83, not 84. They're the kind of band that other bands wanna be like when they grow up. Check em out.

  • vamos NOFX!, igualmente esta lindo el cover

  • 2:47 the I'm playing the trumpet in your face umad bro? face

  • @GrahamTurismo The your a fucking dumbass and I HATE you face

  • @1CannibalCorpse2 The you fucking idiot go die in a fire face

  • r we talking being punk or "punk music"?Ive never heard this band, cant say anything bad, theyre doing an awsome cover.NOFX;PUNK AS FUCK,hands down.Dirty, stupid, addicts who play there 3 chords even faster and sloppier live and act like idiots while doing it.That is NOFX.Now a days,Good charlotte and blink 182 is punk.I would think trendy would b more fitting. These guys are way to happy, clean and co-harrant.And the yippy Hollester look to boot.Music is good, chill.BEST PUNK BAND EVER=OP IVY.

  • @simptoes Back in the day Blink 182---well pre-182----was punk--pop punk granted but still

  • @simptoes I'm confused by your comment, so being clean, coherent, and happy doesn't make you a punk band? If that's not what you meant please tell me. Just confused is all.

  • nofx is probably one of the best bands in the histury of punk music and its transformations that is the reason people cover them, you won't see streerlight covers played 10 dufferent bands of 10 different genres or scenes, fat mike is an amazingly creative song writer, it is actually pretty damm hard to compare them with almost any band still playing today, so please don't do that and enjoy their legacy.

  • Both bands rule, seen them both live, though I wasn't impressed with Streetlight still memorable.

  • @EpicInternAnthony are you serious?? not impressed ? are you alive?

  • @shortska1 I'm a giant Streetlight fan, but I live for the crowd involvement. They came. They Played. They Left. Still good, still sang and was in the pit the whole time, but not impressed by their performance.

  • @EpicInternAnthony i hear ya man i guess everyone has their opinions , personally i like that they dont bullshit around , they blast your face off and thats what i pay for lol

  • when was jim conti in NOFX?

  • to all you tards that keep saying NOFX didnt break up you just got trolled by streetlight!

  • FAKE AND GAY!!!

  • NOFX didnt break up.

  • Matt Stewart is one of the best trumpet players I've ever seen.

  • nofx never broke up

  • @Dethklokrules202 Thats what i thought xD

  • @Dethklokrules202 Never......EVER argue with Thomas

  • awesome

  • Best cover of Linoleum by FAR!

  • @tmsplltrs

Not only that, but Streetlight is one of the more punk-y ska bands. :P

  • Don't you people realize he was joking. "I will probably get killed for saying that" All he was saying is that they haven't been good since 2000.

  • FUCK YES TODAY IN TUCSON WITH RBF FUCK I'M GOING TO BE THERE

  • @anarchy4you Fuck you....Alright, I'm jealous, I said it,

  • Love what they did to this song but nofx has a cool raw sound

  • nofx just played a show in atlanta so fuck no arent broken up

  • Of course NOFX hasn't broken up; would you sherlocks give it a rest? The man is just joking, and this has already been said many times here. It's all quite obvious really.

  • they broke up? interesting considering NOFX keeps putting out albums and touring every year... must be a new definition of the term 'broke up' of which I was previously unaware. NOFX rules... STILL.

  • @STInsanity360 catch 22 was good when keasby nights was released, then they got shitty after tomas left

  • Matty Stew, jammin' out.

  • i prefer the nofx version.this version is ok. not bad

  • Seeing them play in July at the house of blues in chicago :D WITH REEL BIG FISH.

  • @hallorand9 same! and i saw them both jan 09 too there

  • check out my cover of streetlight's! youtube.com/watch?v=ZWfYuwhQnAs

  • I love both bands, people who say NOFX have no talent are plain idiots who probably only listened to two or three and who definitely haven't listened to The Decline yet.

And people who say Streetlight is for pussies are idiot 'punk' fans, seriously ska and punk are like bread and butter.

  • @tmsplltrs exactly you couldn't have put it better punk and ska are both great i just know more punk bands.

  • @tmsplltrs Well everything does sound better in the ska/punk language. Ever hear of Skanatra?

  • @tmsplltrs ya there both good bands but i favor streetlight cause tomas kalnoky isint a complete wastecase dickhead like fat mike, no offence to anyone

  • @tmsplltrs i agree except where he said they broke up 10 years ago cuz they still play and are playing this year---maybe it was a different year--nofx has always played with the ska sound on thier songs so its not so far out of the realm to be a bad cover--i approve

  • @tmsplltrs Fucking perfectly said bro.

  • Comment removed

  • NOFX is an amazing punk-rock band. And Streetlight Manifesto too. Listen to the horns on the albums, it's very well arranged ! This cover is great.

  • this band sucks dick

  • @leftyone234 cool story bro

  • Nofx is Awesome

  • @dnorton91 NOFX is good and I gotta give them a lot of credit for writing this song, but calling Streetlight Manifesto pussy bullshit is just like calling John Lennon a communist...

  • @twoforsixate "that guy" was never in nofx. nofx is so much fucking better than this pussy bullshit....

  • @dnorton91 he was joking lol

  • @dnorton91 Jim Conti was in NOFX... way to go, idiot.

  • @itskragus Thomas was joking when he said that.

  • @SerpentineZERO No, no, no... Wikipedia it. Jim Conti, the guy who sings harmony, was in NOFX... Tomas wasn't, but Jim was.

  • @itskragus I actually did look it up, and nope. NOFX also never broke up.

I think i just got trolled.

  • @SerpentineZERO Jim Conti was on NOFX's wikipedia page until just recently. Either way, I find it quite unfair for dnorton91 to say that Streetlight is crap. NOFX has very little musical talent. Streetlight, on the other hand is riddled with more talent in their little fingers than NOFX has in all their obnoxious loudness.

  • @itskragus I think "pussy bullshit" is really douchey, but saying NOFX has little talent is kinda unfair (listen to the Decline) since they're 2 different genres, so can't really compare talent.

Also, i'm not trying to beat this into the ground, but Jim is nowhere even mentioned on the bands OFFICIAL WEBSITE. Also, any bio of the band ever.

  • @itskragus You're seriously a moron for thinking Jim was in NOFX. It's hilarious and ironic that you telling someone to "Wikipedia it" when you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @laylalaylady No, no, no... nope... nope. Blah blah blah... you and your logic... I don't want to hear it...

Actually you're right. I was under the impression that he was. Wikipedia and Tomas said it... and really the only person who has been in NOFX since the start is Fat Mike, so. Anyway, I still stand by that this is not "pussy bullshit"... and that NOFX is only like 1/10 as technical as Streetlight.

  • @itskragus I think you thoroughly proved that you're the idiot for trying to correct someone on the fact that Jim Conti wasn't in NOFX when you're completely ignorant of the truth. I'm almost positive Wikipedia never said Jim was in NOFX and if it did then that reassures the fact that it can be a horrible source of information as mindless fools like you can add info to it. Hopefully you learned your lesson to stop perpetuating misinformation on public forums as it makes you look foolish.

  • @laylalaylady I do hope you have something better to do with your life rather than sit around on youtube, criticizing people because we don't all have no job and sit around at home all day reading about the history of various punk bands just so we can go on youtube and assert our dominance over people so, we can feel like we're not complete wastes of space and avoid the inevitable truth that we have no friends, and no on likes us. Then again we can't all be like you, can we?

  • @dnorton91 bullshit. NOFX plays ska also. Ska and punk are brothergenres you idiot

  • @AngyRuin that's why he said he'd probably get killed for saying that. He considered them "broke up" because that one guy was gone.

  • @twoforsixate Oh! That makes more sense then o: thanks for clearing that up:D

  • That's probably one of the best trumpet solos I've ever heard.

  • o: Nofx didnt break up.. I saw them in concert, like, a month ago -.-

  • @AngyRuin You realize bands break up and get back together, right? Smashing Pumpkins broke up and reformed 6 years later.

  • @Valkodu Yes, i am quite aware of that

  • Way better than the NOFX version :)

  • Always the same shitty talk about what's the best version. My opinion? Both are astonishing unique versions of the same song. Linoleum gives you eargasm no matter what version you're listening to.

  • It's absolutely mind blowing how amazing they sound. Especially since the camera used to record this does not seem too high quality, that and they're live.

  • you know, i really like the horns on this version instead of that guitar solo on the studio version

  • If you want fast, headbanging music, You listen to the original.

If you want a laid back version, You listen to streetlight.

    It's a matter of intrests.

  • I can't believe the entire room wasnt singing along.. idk, maybe i jsut cant hear the crowd that well.

  • @AnnihalationonaStick you can sorta hear them

and also this is in austria i think

  • they didnt break up because the year streetlight did this nofx released the album coaster i think

  • @faultyflowerpot333 he was saying that when NOFX kicked him out it was like NoFx broke up because he wrote most of the music...that's why he said he'll probably get killed for saying that

  • sounds... oke, but different.

  • I never knew NOFX broke up

  • @realworldtalking they didnt. It was a joke, that's why he said "I'm probably going to killed for saying that"

  • @realworldtalking They didnt.

  • those blue lights are awesome, as is the song

  • @mxsuzuki28 nothing by SM is butchered. its just different. i listen to both bands and i love both versions

  • @guitarbass95 I have a theory in life.....and it is "Streetlight just does everything better"

  • excuse me while i shit bricks

  • i just posted a video response of me and my band playing a VERY SIMILAR cover to this song... but in 2006!!!... we've been copied by streetlight manifesto, PUTOS!!

  • @shameonyouu your band doesn't/didn't have the decency and expertise to even be noticed by streetlight manifesto. Tomas Kalnoky and his droogs walk over you and your existence. your emotions and feelings for the band go right through them like sand in the wind.

  • @M15CY hahaha don't be so mean... it was only a joke! we love streetlight and of course we don't exist, it's sad but, no suth-american band of punk/punk-pop/ska-punk will ever be recogniced worldwide... :(

  • @shameonyouu it was only a joke! we love streetlight and of course we don't exist, it's sad but, no suth-american band of punk/punk-pop/ska-punk will ever be recogniced worldwide... :(

  • @shameonyouu If you have that attitude you won't, release lots of music, try touring up here, if you want to be known, you have to work for it, hard, streetlight's only advantage over you guys was they formed out of the ashes of early catch-22, and the jersey music scene had a pretty big boner for ska at the time. If you want to make that band a career, you'll have to work your ass off.

  • I find this funny for some reason :DD

  • joey cape

  • Matt Stewart<3

  • whyd he say they broke up 10 years ago?

  • @snugglybear182 it's a joke.

  • @snugglybear182 because he made it up, thats why he said i'll probably get killed for saying that

  • @snugglybear182 He's kidding...There isn't even a guy name Jim in NOFX...Haha

  • @snugglybear182 Some ppl call it a "joke" you might have heard of it :-) (if not google it)

  • check out my cover of linoleum gimmes some feed back try not to be too harsh thanks!

  • Definitely the most talent on any punk stage.

  • Dowwnload the audio from this track at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • i just call it punk rock haha

  • It bothers me so much that the recording has no trumpet solo.... :(

  • @beakwithteeth

lol but thats why it has guitar solos :)

  • @beakwithteeth

your right the recording should have the trumpet solo :(

  • they never broke up ?...

  • @drumrocker217 He was joking man

  • The best thing about this cover is that it's the only cover of a hardcore punk song on the album, and yet it's the only slow-paced folk song on the album

  • you cant really compare this version to be better than one another cause streetlight covered it completly different than the original version it goes from a fast punk song to a soft ska song

  • Comment removed

  • They're gonna be in Orlando in march :D :D :D

  • @ASKAJAIMES MA in feb you cunt.

  • it was a alrite cover. nofx's will always be the best cuz its there song but streetlight did a good remake :D

  • this is more ska than punk

  • @bobalazs Artists don't like labeling shit so why do the consumers? Basically racism within the music industry, which leads to less collaborations...which leads to a decline in good music. We def, need more good music at this day and age, the radio is complete shit now.

  • you can't compare this with nofx!!!! nofx is awesome, this is fuck the what

  • those harmonies never get old...

    :)

  • The black guy is a fucking god :3 this song gave me shivers <3

  • my ears just had an orgasm.

  • that guy playin he trumpet is Wesley Willis re-incarnated

  • @usernameis770 you do know wesley willis did not play the trumpet right?

  • @M15CY yeah, i know its just he reminded me of him

  • @usernameis770 FUCK YES!

  • Ha ha "This is a song by a band Jim started in 1984 called nofx... I'm probably going to get killed for saying that."

  • Linoleum with a hint of = perfect

  • nofx never broke up, dont know why he's saying that

  • @baconfromhell666 fat and melvin were allways there , but they had one (or two) drummer before smelly and hefe came after too

  • @wallyveira smelly was first drummer

  • @baconfromhell666 its a joke you swine

  • nofx is still around you lier!

  • @timowns2 It's a joke, Thomas was joking.

  • Well, it's official. Streetlight is still the greatest band ever.

  • wooooooooooooooooah awesome

  • I almost cried when Tomas played this.

  • It kinda sounds like santeria...

  • @suvacoytb because every ska/reggae song sounds the same lol

  • @TomWhaley621

    Except when they don't.

  • @lucifersam99 yeah.. but then you remember, they do.

  • @TomWhaley621

Yeah man. I mean, Streetlight's "Would You Be Impressed?" sounds -exactly- like "Little Bitch" by The Specials, right?

    No.

  • @suvacoytb Linoleum and Santeria have the same chords :)

  • Perfect.

  • i like the trumpet solo in this better then the guitar solo in the recorded version on 99 songs

  • @soulsboarder

You mean the violin solo? But yeah I like this version way better too.

  • does anyone have any news bout 99 songs vol. 2. ive been wonderin when its comin out for a while, but i cant find any news

  • i love this so much haha great song and cover
