Isnt this just a re-branded Pathfinder? Correct me if im wrong, but I don't think Vauxhall is even in the picture when it comes to talking about its performace/design.

But the reason that it's an Opel in mainland Europe versus a Vauxhall in the UK is because GM (its parent owner) uses that brand name based on its recognition in the country as a "British" brand. Most Vauxhalls are just Opels in disguise. GM was once the master of badge engineering, but time and the economy caught up to it.
The mark II fronteras were much better than the first;more standard equipment/better legroom in the rear and a spacious and far better boot. The DTI 16v was best for diesel performance and economy and had a fair bit of go to it.
