In moments of great suffering I have been automatically ejected from thinking, I suddenly realise that I should let go of obsessive thoughts and emotions about past, present and future and just accept the now the very present moment. Through this I feel very peaceful likewise I gain great wisdom, insight and inspiration
I find mantra difficult to do. Trouble is I can't seem to get aware manually, I have had these experiences only automatically through suffering. Any help?
@thrombox The most effective way to return to the present moment, for me, is to focus my awareness on the feeling of aliveness in my body, or the slight pauses at the top and bottom of the cycle of my breath. When a thought comes, don't push it away--simply return your awareness to those sensations.
megatroll i know exactly what your tlaking ablut Ive been doing this for awhile and during communication people often get agitated or insecure as if they know that you can see through some of their "presentation" so to speak...its funny..but I have learned to sort of mask that in a way b/c you have to people get to caught up in it and start avoiding you lol.
...but sadly I discovered that since I achieved this state of consciousnes, some people tend to take basic comunication negatively. This is very hard for me to put in words. It's as if there is an invisible bond between them and me, almost as if I got insight on their subconsciousnes, speaking to me in between words. As if it shows me people's true intentions... Also it seems as if they feel disturbed by my mind/aura whatever you want to call it.
Through meditation I got a whole new way of perception on life itself. And for the first time in my life I can honestly say I feel at peace. It's a wonderful state of being without emotion or subjectivity and it helps me make clear decisions in life.
I disagree with you when you say that the future has not already happened and I disagree with you that the past no longer exists. My own personal experience have shown me the future, and the future happens some point in the coming present exactly as I dream it. In science there is a theory that supports what I experience, that space time is really the past the present and the future all in one. In this theory it is said that the past is still there and the future has already occurred.
really believe this its a way of letting go of all past anger and issues of being in the moment or anxieies about the future , this really helps, thanks for all your videos
Cool technique: Download "theta" or "delta" brainwave recordings in your mp3. Simutaneously meditate while listening to your mp3. Sit or stand, but DON'T LIE DOWN.
I think the best one for your life, long term, is the awareness meditation.
Most of the time, we go around on autopilot and let our ingrained automatic reactions take care of life. When you practice being fully aware, you bring control of your thoughts and actions back into your conscious state. Buddhism calls it "beginners mind," because it's often the state of mind you have when you are trying something new--full of awareness, observation, and careful action.
Thank you. i tried to do the mantra mediation today but failed. I could not get focused. It was my 3rd attempt. @ were successful this last one not so much, just wasn't comfortable in my surroundings.
This has really helped me a lot....just want to thank you....your videos are a great help....I needed to hear how to start and to get a understanding of becoming present....its such a happyer place to be in the moment....its a way out of the critcal upbringing (negative thoughts) I had.......thank you!
I have learned (though I often tend to forget) that I can't experience fear when fully in the present moment. Example: before a public performance, I'm terrified; but as soon as I start playing and the present moment takes over, the fear vanishes. It seems to me that fear is only present when I am involved wtih the past or future.
Thank you for the presence and clarity of this video. This is the first comment I've posted on Youtube - which I just joined so I could say thank you.
cheers mate u have helped me alot most of my day usually worrying about stuff that has happened or hasnt happened yet. my stress levels have decreased and i am much happier. thanks a heep
I like this mans idea of living in the present moment. I feel like I waste so much time having my head wrapped up in the illusion of the past and future. this video was a good reminder to live in the "now." And provided some of the benefits and ways of doing this.
Sounds helpful... I'm going to try it a few times a day for a week or so and I'll let you know of it helped. I really hope it does because I've been having bad anxiety attacks.
i liked the way you put things into a modern translation.. it made sense to me , i practise qigong which involes mediation , and i have experienced for myself the clarity of life you spoke of.
Meditation is one of the great arts man discovered, perhaps the greatest, but only few understand this. For me this is the only way to real transformation.
The only problem for me is that i have no discipline to meditate daily so i achieved little because i drink a lot and i smoke everyday and I enjoyed it.
Even if you drink and smoke, you can meditate, not as effectively though. But not when drunk or high. Meditation is the answer, to get out of this mad house, we are all forced to abide. Thinking, has tremendous value, when used appropriately, but the universal questions, require the use of your 'total mind' and your heart. Good luck, if you have any questions, you can send me an e-mail, I think I've been down this road before.
meditation seems much like the effects I get from marijuana, observation and being present in the moment. Though I feel marijuana is a short cut, temporary opening certain conscience as mediation can be permanent
marijuana actually lowers your awareness, thats why you somewhat hallucinate, it and leaves you vulnerable to negative influences. if you do meditation right you should feel more aware than usual
Hallucinate? Wow! I've never "somewhat" hallucinated from marijuana. Maybe that wasnt marijuana you were smoking when you experienced this hallucigenic state.
what i meant was trying to have a spiritual experience with marijuana, like meditating afterward and if your desire is strong enough you may have a spiritual experience, but the negative effects or greetings will probably outweigh the positive especially if you dont have a spiritual urg
One thing that I learned from other people who practice awareness meditation is when a though comes, become aware of it. Just like when you become aware of bodily things, like tension, (I have a tension in an area of my body), I've been working on just noticing and becoming aware of, I have a thought. Just simply being aware of things in the body, the thoughts, being aware of the sounds I hear, the colors I see, and just being aware. Without judging them just letting them be. Good videos.T
last weeks i have also tried some meditation techniques and really agree with you, especially with the thing, that you have feelings like you had in your childhood, i have them as well. And it is true than there is Something different in the way you look the things, it is difficult to describe but if you find it you are sure that this is the Something
Thank you , much love man! We need to spread this to those whom live in pure dark , like i once did but now ive been meditating finding truth to my outer world from searching within. Much love man!
this is a very great and powerful meditation but i still think that the silent mantra meditation works better because of the almost kind of high you get after words...they both make me feel kind of the same in the end but i like silent mantra because i like the fact that it is just you and your thoughts when you are done. Is it safe to do these type of meditations for more than 10-20 minutes?(in your vidieos you say do this for 10-20 minutes)
Fantastic advice! I've been taking this mindset whenever possible and everything you say is true. Experiences become more rich, I feel more composed and confident, and in control.
My problem, however, is that I suffer from ADHD and no matter how hard I try to stay focused I keep getting pulled out of this state and getting lost in my thoughts again. Any advice on how to stop this from happening would be appreciated!
I think this video was awesome. he spoke with such clairty and calmness. This is what I strive to be. good job.I look forward to more of your videos.. and god bless. spirit dragon
I agree with ya all the way. I discovered awareness thanks to non dualism (advaita). YOu can always become more aware. MOre and MOre. There is no end. Everybody can become a Buddha and realize their true original face.
Just one remark concerning what you said about Zazen. From my personal experience i would say Zazen/being present doesn't necessary mean "No Thoughts, No Feelings". It is rather to try and be aware of thoughts, feelings, sensations etc. and not hold on to them, not judge them as good or bad. It is said in Zen just sit and watch your thoughts like clouds passing in the sky. They appear and disappear, but you are always the same, you are not your thoughts, you are the watcher.
Really like your teaching style! I can see that you are describing a state of being which you already experiencing... Which we all are, we just have to remember it... and meditation is the best way to do that, because it´s the only thing that is not ego constructed, which is not a part of ones delusional self.
