It never ceases to amaze me about how much people talk about Andre the Giant's height. He was by all means a very big man. He was a great wrestler who fit in really well. I think wrestlers were billed by a larger margin than what they are today. Even though the Great Khali and Big Show may be over-billed, their actual heights are closer to their billed ones. We can compare him to Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III, which is the best comparison.
Why is Andres hight always an issue. He was a fantastic performer that made us all smile and cheer when we were little. Let the man rest with your respect and don't say anything bad about this great wrestler !
Just to tell you the facts. I was personal Friend of Capt Lou Albano and i got him to admit that andre the giant was a legit 7 foot 4 inches and thats coming from man who worked with andre for many years.

Wrestler's wear lifted boots. Hogan is notorious for it. In real life Hogan is 6'4 but his boots had a inch lift on them. Just like with Kane... who is actually 6'10 is billed has 7'. The height for Gonzalez is correct, as far as I know he was 2,29 or 2,30 (I don't know exactly how tall this is in foot), but Andre the Giant probably wasn't taller than 2,13.

7' ft exactly later in his career because of all of his back surgeries. since Gonzalez actually stayed in shape it helped him later in life so he didnt have to have as many back surgeries as Andre, but Gonzalez was or is in a wheelchair so...

Great Khali and Giant Gonzales are not the same person. Great Khali's real name is Dalip Singh, and Giant Gonzales's real name was Jorge Gonzales. He passed away 9 days ago from complications from diabetes at the age of 44.

@nowookiee Real height of Undertaker is about 6 7.5' inches (202 cm) Andre the Giant real height is Estimated to be Between 6'9 to 6'10 (205 - 208 cm) still couple of inches over undertaker, so he would be less dwarfed by giant gonzalez than undertakes was. I think Giant gonzales was in the 7 6' to 7 7' range (228- 230 cm) as he looked good 11 inches over the Undertaker.

@cityrooster you're correct. Giant Gonzales was officially measured by Guiness at 7'6". Andre the Giant's peak height was about 7 feet.

No way Andre was 7'4", as this was obviously a gimmick.
Watch a video of Giant Gonzalez in the ring. He towers over his opponents, and he's 7'7".
Andre was tall, but he did not 'tower' over Hulk Hogan. He did not 'tower' over Studd or even Jake the Snake.

It never ceases to amaze me about how much people talk about Andre the Giant's height. He was by all means a very big man. He was a great wrestler who fit in really well. I think wrestlers were billed by a larger margin than what they are today. Even though the Great Khali and Big Show may be over-billed, their actual heights are closer to their billed ones. We can compare him to Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III, which is the best comparison.

Just to tell you the facts. I was personal Friend of Capt Lou Albano and i got him to admit that andre the giant was a legit 7 foot 4 inches and thats coming from man who worked with andre for many years.

Wrestler's wear lifted boots. Hogan is notorious for it. In real life Hogan is 6'4 but his boots had a inch lift on them. Just like with Kane... who is actually 6'10 is billed has 7'. And as for Giant Gonzalez... he was 7'7 and wore an additional 3 inches on his boots... which made him 7'10 and was close enough to pass as "nearly 8'0".
