seems like EVERY older video I watch people always speak as if it were the good ol days-just goes to show what a shitty dive we have all taken in to the new century.I blame the govt-the media and bankers-they have gotten out of control...its just going to get worse....in 20 more years these will be the good ol days.sad but true.
@anuangelseyes is mainly b/c of all the social networking we have in today's world. My mon loves the 60s and 70s music (so do I ) but I know those decades were were also tough. However, I have to agree with people that say that music has totally gone down and 20 years from now i doubt ppl will be saying Justin Bieber (and the likes of him) were so talented.

I remember hearing this song on the old WPFR when i was in high school and i had a serious crush on a girl. I lived the 80s.. And loved the 80s.. So many songs like this, i'd go to sleep listening to the station each night. It inspired me to persue a career as a radio DJ. I can't stay away from the 80s. The sad thing is My career started on the edge. I missed being in the control room during the hottest years for FM stereo and the 80s. This music made you dream.
Sem dúvida! As discotecas tinham matinés e o alinhamento das músicas dava para tudo: primeiro a música mais mexida e depois o bocadinho dos slows... Tanta ternura, tanto beijo roubado! ;-) As coisas eram vividas no momento certo. Quero voltar para lá...
Those where the days. Lazy, warm and cool. Each music with a story, each life written in songs lyrics. Those where the times of real love and friendship. No matter were you live, it was a special felling and a special kind of life. I too miss the 80's, specially when i listen to present music. One thing i'm sure. Those times where unique and will came no more. So bless you all kids from the 80's. You know what i'm talking about. Love from Lisbon, Portugal.
If the Lord was to ask me what time era in this life I would like to return to and it would be my heaven forever, I certainly would tell him the 80's.
The 80s were a carefree decade...you could sing and write songs like this and they were beautiful Now everything has got so much more serious....that feeling of love has gone out of so much music. Music is still good, but its different and as the other poster says here - so much music is done for money now....sad, really, but a reflection of the times we are in in this world

For me, this song brings back so many special memories and a loving feeIing I cannot seem to explain. Makes me feel young again and wishing I was back when this came out. I suppose it's a feeling of pure innocence and real true love, back in a time when everyone seemed to be so beautiful (inside and out), and was so much happier. I do miss the 80s also and all the beautiful people that were in and shared it with me. :)

their 1989 release has some good songs but it was never heard...not by me.
more good music that never got heard while junk like millie vanilla was being promoted att the same time. 1989 was about the time when they started to blackball good rock- pop songs in favor of the hip hop.
@The096757 You are right, so right. 1989 was the downfall of great music. I remember it was around that time that " Yo, Yo, Yo, Mtv raps " came out and I knew, just knew that things were taking a turn for the worse and boy I was right. It has never been the same since and the feeling that we had in the 80's, well that died with it and we who loved the 80's have been miserable ever since when it comes to the music world. And perhaps some other areas of our life as well. It just changed us.
there was still good music being made in 1989 up to about 1996 but it was really hard to get to hear it just so the hip hop hags and rap scags could be heard instead. they should not force their crap on other people as a way to try to get us to like it. it just makes us hate it more.
@The096757 That is very true. There was some really good songs to come out in the early 90's but unfortunately for those of us who happened to like that music, the music industry did force its rap and hip hop crap right in our faces. We couldnt escape it. It was everywhere. I am just glad I had all my cassettes to listen to still. We will never get that time back. The world has changed too much and not for the better I might add. It is a really sad deal.
@thecarebearhideaway Perfectly stated! And I agree wholeheartedly! The 80's was unique!!! Unlike any decade before of after it!!! So glad I was born in 1971 and "came of age" in the 80s! It is amazing how music or anything sensory can take us back isn't it? I was just a 16 year old brat when this came out! Now that I am 40 and responsible.....I see why my parents and other old folks always said "enjoy your teen years with Mom and Dad as they are the best you'll ever have." Now I say it!
@mrbrandon71 Me too! I feel very fortunate to have been a teen during the 80's and had the opportunity to enjoy all the great things the 80's had to offer. Things you cant find today in this world. And yes, exactly, music has that power to take us to every moment of our lives when a song plays. My world is filled with memories attached to every song from that time. Yeah JCM had it right when he spoke of holding onto 16 as long as you can because it is gone in a flash and he was right. :-/
Couldn´t agree with you more! I get really nostalgic when hearing all that incredibly well-writen music, with lots of love and passion in it. I became a helpless romantic because of the 80s and don't regret a single second of that decade, with all the foolishness, heartache and absolute love and joy... If only kids nowadays could be so lucky... From Portugal with love for the 80's, J3mlobo.
@fsejmonteiro Man, so do I. I always feel very nostalgic to the point sometimes that my heart just aches for those times you know. The feeling of that time really overwhelms me and I just miss it with all my heart and soul. I am a helpless romantic myself and I believe it is us helpless romantics that seem to hold onto the 80's the most with such fondness and love for that time. It really meant something to us you know. Thanks so much for such a kind comment! Hugs from Alabama! :-)
Loved this song when it first came out in the 80s! bought the single and was a fan of the band as well! lol. This is the first time Ive heard it in .. ermm too many years. God its Awfull! LOL .. how ones tastes change....
I will admit, the Cutting Crew was one of my first CD's I bought...in the 80's...they had such a natural sound..and was perfect for the 80's environment...but you know still is relevant today...Wonder what happened to these guys?
80s ear candy - I sang to this quite a bit and played it on my love songs show. Listening now, I'll bet he blew his vocal chords out because he's not supporting those high notes for sh*t.
MAN, that dude is friggin hot!!!!! I love that song and I can only remember that song and "I just died in your arms" by them, which was another good tune!!!!!!! WOW, I loved the 80's =)
Great song! I really like the guitar solo at the end. They made another song called "One For the Mockingbird" that I really like, too. A lot of people talk junk about the 80s music, but it was some of the best made! And I confess, I still have their Broadcast album on cassette!
My best years as teen were around 83/84 so this Song came a bit later that i could't connect with the good old days until growing old enough to wholly appreciate it.
@ariannablu I don't know what it was about 1987 - but it was a special year in terms of music. I think it's because so many classic rock, and more modern rock (pop , hard rock, and heavy metal) bands converged. Cutting Crew is one of the most easily forgotten bands. It looks like this video was for the single's original release in the UK - the American release came a bit later with a re-recorded Black and White video. Great song. Great video. GREAT YEAR!
4:04 to the end is really good guitar. nick released a solo album in 2006 called grinning souls. it's a real shame how talented men like nick would not have a chance to make music nowaday unless it was some lowlife white thug trash hip hop music or degenerate blues-ameircana crap.
his solo music is not bad and still has rock guitar in it but not enough.
this was out fall 1987 when white men were happy with who they were and what they were unlike now.
@The096757 Thats like such an accurate comment. I even came back to it because I just had to thank you for making it. Interesting how you comment on white guys! Because I know exactly what you mean and I'm not white! I've held the same view, thuggery introduced and glorified ruined everything... everything.
Thanks for standing up for musicianship and class.
great version of this song. i never saw this colorized video before. nowadays the media will made some sour-faced, no-talent, ugly scag like justin timberlake into a idol when good songs like this are not aired on radio anymore.
lead singer nick van eade is a classic example of a happy, talented, good -looking '80s man. but yes, the hair was too long back then.
@OrigKato4Ever that's because one sided 'love' really isn't love. It's usually infatuation and while it's something of a buzz for a short time, if one doesn't realize it's infatuation and then take steps to get over it, it can makes ya crazy. that one i sadly know from experience...but the positive thing here is that at least one can love. Some folks can...and that is what truly sucks.
This song is an 80's classic that only means everything to we who were there to live it. CLASSIC!!!!! A simple time where the future was uncertain and mysterious. The only thing I cared about was the woman in my arms and good times. sniff....
This song belongs to me and I belong to this song ..

Don't make music like this anymore, that's for sure! Cutting Crew practically defined my senior year in H.S. Long live 1987.
ariannablu 4 months ago 5

The096757 4 months ago 24
@The096757 Thats like such an accurate comment. I even came back to it because I just had to thank you for making it. Interesting how you comment on white guys! Because I know exactly what you mean and I'm not white! I've held the same view, thuggery introduced and glorified ruined everything... everything.
Thanks for standing up for musicianship and class.

@The096757 You managed to take a a great song like this and turn it into a rant about self hating white guys? Have you tried group therapy?
aviator408 2 months ago
great version of this song. i never saw this colorized video before. nowadays the media will made some sour-faced, no-talent, ugly scag like justin timberlake into a idol when good songs like this are not aired on radio anymore.
lead singer nick van eade is a classic example of a happy, talented, good -looking '80s man. but yes, the hair was too long back then.
The096757 4 months ago
We hear no songs like this anymore . Pity . The years 1980 were really awesome .

I've been in love before. The hardest part is when your in it...alone. One way love sucks to the infinite degree.
OrigKato4Ever 5 months ago 59
@OrigKato4Ever that's because one sided 'love' really isn't love. It's usually infatuation and while it's something of a buzz for a short time, if one doesn't realize it's infatuation and then take steps to get over it, it can makes ya crazy. that one i sadly know from experience...but the positive thing here is that at least one can love. Some folks can...and that is what truly sucks.
