If two guys cut the same weight but one's heavier, he cuts less of a percentage.

BJJ yeah, takedowns um I guess it could but there's no technical skill in learning that. I know how to take someone down easy cause I played football and I did also do Judo which is extremely technical but I didn't continue cause I strained my back once and I have a black belt in karate. Anyways, what Im trying to say is perfecting a takedown does not take years, maybe a couple weeks. Anyways Pierre will most likely not submit Silva even though he's a black belt.
Silva's got a great guard and he's also got a black belt from one of the top Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Silva's guard is too good, especially cause he's long and he can use the body triangle which would pretty much nullify anyone's ground n pound and dont point to the Sonnen fight he had fractured ribs. I just don't see GSP winning by KO nor by submission, his only chance is to lay on Silva for 5 rounds.

@fara0n I've trained competed in and watched martial arts since before Pancrase.Crocop outstrikes Fedor and Rua,but in his prime he lacked the fighting style that best translates to MMA.Mark Hunt has the more applicable style but the more questionable work ethic.The best K-1 candidates would be guys like Andy Hug,Michael Mcdonald,Buakaw por Pramuk (K-1 MAX),Duane Ludwig,etc. because their backgrounds are eclectic enough to transition into MMA with minimal fuss.

@cbizzy2009 Anderson is much bigger than GSP I can't believe you're trying to make out they are a similar size. 4" height difference is pretty significant when trying to land strikes as you have to punch higher than usual.
In my eyes Anderson is a natural LHW and GSP is a natural WW.

@wallpaperfrog I'm not hating, but you're not very aware and are so wrong. GSP cuts 25-30 pounds of his weight to make 170; Silva walks around at 207. He cuts less weight and due to being heavier cuts far less of a percentage of his weight.

@ballsoffury4 I agree with that, however I think GSP is much more well rounded.
And I agree with you on the fight, I would expect a GSP win to come by decision, but a 4th/5th round stoppage wouldn't surprise me one bit, although I know it would shock a lot of people.

@ballsoffury4 I see where you're coming from, but I wouldn't say he's scared. And yeah it would take a good 6 months to put on enough lean muscle to move up a whole weight division, especially when you're as ripped as he is. He has barely any body fat so building muscle is way harder than for the average guy.
As for silva being on another level talent wise, do BJJ, wrestling and ground game not count as talents?
Sure silva is on another level to pretty much everyone in mma striking-wise I agre

@wallpaperfrog well thats where ur wrong he has very little body fat yes but its the way that he trains and makes his cut to get to 170 that is the reason his training is Just athletically amazing ud think he wasnt a fighter some of the stuff he does. but he could get 185 easily and easily gain the weight. he walks around Just over 190 so its not a problem for him its actually harder to be a skinny ripped starved 170 for him. its Just all routine

BJJ yeah, takedowns um I guess it could but there's no technical skill in learning that. I know how to take someone down easy cause I played football and I did also do Judo which is extremely technical but I didn't continue cause I strained my back once and I have a black belt in karate. Anyways, what Im trying to say is perfecting a takedown does not take years, maybe a couple weeks. Anyways Pierre will most likely not submit Silva even though he's a black belt.

Silva's got a great guard and he's also got a black belt from one of the top Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Silva's guard is too good, especially cause he's long and he can use the body triangle which would pretty much nullify anyone's ground n pound and dont point to the Sonnen fight he had fractured ribs. I just don't see GSP winning by KO nor by submission, his only chance is to lay on Silva for 5 rounds.

@BRASCO7 are you stupid or something? Anderson is much bigger and heavier than GSP so he obviously would need to gain some weight, it's a valid point not an excuse. He's a smart guy so he wants to do it properly by putting on lean muscle, not just piling extra pounds on that could jeopardise his speed/stamina.
You on the other hand are clearly an Anderson ballsucker that doesn't think logically.
As for the fight, I am split between the 2, but I would have to say I think Georges will take it.

I like both guys but its obvious GSP is in a way scared, it doesn't take years to pack on lean muscle especially for an athlete like him. I would say, logically speaking that he's waiting for Anderson to age a little bit, then he will fight him. He could pack on lean muscle in a few months, he's using that as his excuse in a way. Either way, Silva talent wise is on another level, he will not submit or KO Silva and only way I see him winning is laying on him for 5 rounds

@ballsoffury4 i agree completley gsp is a expert point scoring machine and thats about it. its actually harder for him to get to 170 pounds than it would be for a 185 routine knowing that he walks around just over 190 but he like to be a skinny ripped 170. no doubt he will never make a move to 185 unless the top comp is elderly. he even said that he doesnt know if anderson will drop to 170 or if he will go up to 185 know that is a true coward. he has no respect or honor

@fara0n I've trained competed in and watched martial arts since before Pancrase.Crocop outstrikes Fedor and Rua,but in his prime he lacked the fighting style that best translates to MMA.Mark Hunt has the more applicable style but the more questionable work ethic.The best K-1 candidates would be guys like Andy Hug,Michael Mcdonald,Buakaw por Pramuk (K-1 MAX),Duane Ludwig,etc. because their backgrounds are eclectic enough to transition into MMA with minimal fuss.

@fara0n Well,I would say that Fedor is STILL the most ACCOMPLISHED MMA fighter of all time,but he's NOT THE MOST TALENTED.The most athletically gifted and talented MMA guys probably boils down to a race between Jon Jones,GSP,Anderson,Edgar,Cain Velasquez,Vitor Belfort and Jose Aldo.And of them? Anderson is the best.I'd love to see Anderson have some HW matches too.Not against Cain--well,yeah maybe against Cain--but certainly against Mir and dos Santos.All 3 could beat Anderson.

I think skillwise Silva is better than GSP ...BUT... I think GSP's intelligence and gameplan mastery would prevail if they fight because I don't care if GSP is boring or spending time on the ground. ITS MMA!!!! NOT KICKBOXING!!! Everyone knows that Anderson has problems fighting grapplers (Sonnen, Henderson) so with a proper gameplan for Anderson GSP is winning it no doubt. GSP is definitley one of my all time favourite fighters and is most certainly the number 2 p4p fighter (in my oppinion) but I think Anderson, even though I'm not the biggest fan of him, would beat him (at the moment) due to his supirior striking.
