I think Iran is simply playing psychological games here, or its got some serious spies within the western armed industry.

Because they still operate a large number of Western built aircraft, and under the current sanctions, they can't get spare parts. It's the commercial airliners that are mostly affected, and thus the reason for some of the recent accidents. They are starting ot produce more domestically designed aircraft, and as you can see, newer weapon systems.

Absolute self sufficiency in every aspect of industrialization should not be Irans goal, but it should concentrate on its potential. Germany has made every living citizen want to drive or own one of its cars, Iran should do the same with its industrial output.

@edwong3 russia is on the side of iran, so is china and north korea, but its the US that wont allow them to, if it wasnt for them and their sanctions, russia would sell everytype of watever they hav to iran (most likely)

@farshad94abedi Well I am thinking that it would be far better for Iran to continue on the path of complete independence from third party suppliers, since it is evident that changing political climates can disrupt the free flow of replacements. It has been a tough road for the Iranians to do this, but so far, it has also been rewarding. In due time, they'll wind up with the most extensive industrial infrasture of any country in the world.

@farshad94abedi i highly agree with u, eversince the sanktions began, we hav been making our own cars, weapons, aircraft, rockets, so on. but the influence that thses sactions hav had on us r truly ereversable, if america wer to lift al sanctions from us, then iran would (im gessing) buy as much new technology as possible, then back engeir them and produce them in iran, prob the same way they now make fighter. from there they can develop the equipment further more to their needs.
