I must say the most impressive piano imrpovisation I have come across in many years....what a drive and what an imagination...what do you practice when you practice? I could imagine that you played some classical pieces "on the side" - wonderfull work!
That was by far the most beautiful and well played piano piece I have ever heard. I've been playing for 12 years and you are on a level that goes way beyond where i would ever imagine to be.. seriously look into publishing your work or going to Julaird or something...BRAVO
ok listen kyle... me and you have to have a little talk about you making publishing some sheets. ur like sitting on a gold mine and keeping all the gold! remember this, sharing is caring. SO SHARE!
Yeah, someone's already mentioned this before, but the part from 6:00 to 6:25 sounds really Rachmaninoff-esque in my opinion. I read your earlier comments hahaha... its so awesome when you stumble upon a really sinister chord progression by pure accident!
I think 1:35 to 1:55 is frikkin music history with 1:45 as one of the best things you ever made. Its so #¤"!#"!# cool, and i love everthing you put on youtube. Don't you ever stop making music.
4:00 and 6:00 has been more than great... I mean EXELENT!!! thats absolutely amazing. I've been watching your videos and i can say you are doing absolutely great. I really like the way you modulate (harmony and rythm.
Kyle, I love and hate to hear you play. I love to because your songs sound so well put together and they are all amazing with different attitudes.
I hate to because I know no matter how long I play the piano...I will never be able to do anything near what you do. I mean, I can't even write a single measure that sounds good...and I've been playing for 5 years :(
Your playing is so traditional, yet it spawned and developed your own style of playing. Those keys are more like your friends rather than your puppets.
Your music is so inspirational and i feel like i'm flowing through a thousand memories when i listen to you play. You are an excellent musician and i miss you anddddd i like your shorts!
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE! 6:00 - 6:25! 8:12 - end ^_^ That was exhilarating! Thats why I love your playing so much. When you have such moments of musical brilliance, I am reminded so strongly why I have stayed in touch with you all this time. You are a fountain of inspiration. 5 stars buddy.
That's my favorite part, it's so dissonant and not like me... also the 2 chords I used for when it gets faster were weird to be put together. I was playing E minor, then Db major... isn't that weird? Lol. it was an accident, but I kept using those 2 chords back and forth because it sounded evil.
Oh wow, I LOVE 1:45-2:15, and alot of other spots, but I was too mesmerized to keep track. .___. Amazing job, thanks for making it long so I didn't have to play it 3 times haha.
I don't think so lol. There's a lot of everything. I do remember it starts AND ends in F minor, and there is one theme in Ab major. There's a couple E flat minor part too... I'm trying to recall without watching it.
i see i see. such interesting chord changes. how the hell do you come up with that stuff without any theory. a gift. you do use a lot of fifths though eh?
You should name this piece 'The life of a Youtube pianist'. Go through it bit by bit and it appears to represent your Youtube career. A slow and serene start...building to Stunning moments (featured vid) and stormy moments (the letters re copyright)...it builds and builds until then sadness...but then ends on a bright note...which of course is your new account growing....lol how sad am i! HA!
impressive..but not that impressive..it has too many whatever it's called when you play the same note on two different octaves at the same time...but not bad
it's a chord but often he also is hitting keys in the center which make playing it accurately much harder and there's more to think about when your playing if you choose to use a chord instead of single note so it's more impressive with the chords.
Hi Kyle! I must start out by saying that you are truly talented and amazing. I have been playing piano ever since I can remember (self-taught) and I could never even *dream* of being as good as you are. You are truly gifted, and I can only aspire to be like you someday! Second, I am sorry what happened to your account, that's a bummer =/
guess who's in a university wahhwhwahwah...not that it matters ... I truly don't have anything to say I'm just writing to pass the time, feel free to not reply? life's mysteries... this song makes you think, what will happen to life... inspirational music... yep this is the stuff you do at 3 minutes... please take this seriously!!
ohh on an extra serious note, I love your harmonies and how you have a melody on the right hand and your left hand is doing its thing and then they combine to do something then go into great moving chords then back to melody on right hand and left hand harmonizing... great stuff ^O^
Omigosh, that was simply stunning! I love how you managed to turn the somewhat sinister tone to the music at early 6mins to the brighter, more hopeful tone later in the middle! And the tremolando you did! Can I borrow your hands for my grade 8 exams? Just once, pretty please? >.<
Kyle, I am so grateful to see you back to your old self. Wow! Over 9 minutes and most beautiful. What
a fantastic improvisation. I love the dynamics, mood changes, emotions and tempo variations all in one awesome composition. Sounds like you are really back
9 minutes Kyle, thank you! Sheer beauty, and of a new and different kind. Like the great romantics you have this wide range stretching from the most humble and soft to the heavily stormy and grand. I like it when you think big and go for it so courageously whithout hesitation, like with no secure boundaries but almost on the edge of what you can do.This approach will certainly make you move forward all the time.
Wow. you built this song up amazingly. There was great tension in and also alot of softness and varietion. I think there were very many different songs put together in a very logical way. That was great of you.
How long did you practice this? Like, I mean, you can't just make all these parts up in a second?!..
Wow, that was amazing. Definitely one of my favorites. There was a whole story playing out in my head as I was listening. Way to come back stronger and stronger. Chin up, and good luck.
It's like you're pushing me to be my best on the piano. Granted, I've only played for 4 years, and you have twice the experience, so it's given that I wouldn't be as good. But man, it's hard to put into words.
I know the feeling where it's not as important to self, but different to the viewers.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who you inspired, but from a piano player to a piano player, it's a great thing for me to experience.
I have nothing to say really. Speachless. The creativity is amazing. You're inspiring me the way no other piano player can, to the point that I have to try the chords and melody that I just heard.
And just to note, I'm still practicing your White Sun. Hope to get a video soon with a new piano after I come back from Canada.
omg I cant even describe this song, its just too awesome.

kylelandry 3 years ago
Is this improv mainly played in Db major?
LonePianist3 3 years ago
Eh, more of F minor and Eflat major, so more like 3 and 4 flat key sigs.
But after you get half way through it merges into Bflat minor which is 5 flats (d major), and it seems to stay in that way until about 6:25.
kylelandry 3 years ago
Oh, I wasn't even close with guessing the keys.
F minor and E flat major ftw. Gotta love those scales. Same with B flat minor.
