Gorgeous singing and totally in the Mozart style. I'd like to give a little credit to the conductor [who I greatly admire]. What an invaluable experience the young Gruberova must have learned from the Greatest Mozart conductor of the 20th century and a great friend of Richard Strauss: Karl Bohm!

Gruberova prooved she was right to sing Donizetti Tudor's queens, after all these years she still sing Elisabetta fantastically and besides I heard her in Paris a few days ago in Konstanze and it was like a miracle !

Gruberova was preparing her splendid career in bel canto which makes her today the Unica Prima Donna Assoluta who still sing today. I love many other singers especially Callas but it doesn't mean we cannot appreciate different characters as Gruberova.

This is incredible singing. So solid, rich, warm sound. It's interesting how different it is from the recording with Solti, where it is just as solid, but seems with more imagination and surprising ideas. Both wonderful.

When Gruberova was a vocal Goddess singing the repertoire she was born to sing (not in her recent years where she began believing she is Maria Callas and started singing the soprano Assoluta repertoire by transposing half of the notes of each role 1 octave up ) I will never understand why singers let themselves be such ridicules at the end of their careers
