  • Prime example of 156s running under the wires from Edinburgh then branching off after kirknewton onto unelectrified section through Livingston onto glasgow

  • THIS IS MY DREAM TO GO CAB RIDING AND YES PEOPLE I AM FEMALE

  • Which line is this?

  • Awesome pic!

  • Another very low-res UK railway video. Do they not sell high-res camcorders in the UK ???

  • @ccolimon This was filmed almost 4 years ago, Of course they sell HD cameras in the UK, i own one

  • What line is this and where would the 'feather' have taken you had the video continued?

  • great video!!! simply beautiful scenery.....man that was straight rail for awhile! a train is a train steel on steel....it doesn't matter if it is powered by hamsters....a train is a train......5 stars

  • What a great sight. Thats all that needs to be said.

  • i see the heated points were working

  • Nice ride! ^_^ 5 Stars!

  • The next stop is howood, mind the gap!!

  • GREAT!

  • very nice ! thanks a lot!

  • I'd love to be a train driver :)

  • Thats SOOO pretty

  • Beautiful video - love the pale violet glow - Thanks!

  • What kind of train was this?

  • Its a BR Class 156 DMU by the sound of the wheels over the rails

  • Dont talk Shite! You Cant tell just by a stupid noise in all my life! hahahaha!! I Actually had to ask my brother on that! Hes a Virgin Driver and Said "The Lads Talking Shite Mark" HAHAH!

  • Wey its deffs a 156 tho mate and I have rode on them since I was little

  • Well you must have an Acute Hearing then, Because ALL Trains Sound the same, Nothing to do with the wheels. Its all to do with the Railway track which gives the Noise. Honesty I Cant Be Arsed having this argument with a Train Anorak that thinks he can tell what type of train it is with the noise of the wheels on track. Its... Its DAFT!

  • yes you can tell which train it is, if it has a ringing like sound, it will be a mk1 or mk2, if its a dull one like this it will be on air suspension like this train hes on here

  • Ohh At Least somebody can describe how..

Thanks Now I Get how he knew.. I was like WTF 0.o

  • LOL

  • @bronzeonion said fucker check the overheads lines so must be an electric.156 and 158 run on certain lines

  • @MrLamabama Diesels can still run... with diesels if theres track it will run on it! doesnt matter on electrified routes it will still run on it, say theres a branch line coming off a main line, the branch is not electrified but the mainline is, to save money the operator will run a diesel train on it. Jesus christ didnt think people were this dumb

  • @bronzeonion its an spt route and there trains are electric.i58 dont do spt routes so rules that out.156 are hardly used there but are on route that have no wire like glasgow central to edinburgh or the west highland lines.oh and guess what i am a train driver for scotrail

  • @MrLamabama Just because there is OHLE above the train doesnt mean that Diesel trains can't go under it....... where i live in East Anglia Class 170s are used on the Electrified mainline to Peterborough and Lowestoft......

  • @MrLamabama Your the fucker mate do you not know you can run diesel trains when there is wires?

  • @MarkMck1994 different trains have different axle weights, so they will make different sounds!

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz Besides the point. Weather Into Consideration, Metal will get tighter, stonger and more prone to stiffness in Snow, so it will make another noise altogether. I dont know how somebody could tell that.

Thats like saying I know what type of car that is because of the noise of the tiers on the road!

  • @MarkMck1994 Since when have cars had 'tiers'?

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz Wooops :D Tyers!

  • @MarkMck1994 That's still not right!

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz Omg.... lol I must look like a complete idiot! even thought I have an A In Advanced Higher English! LOL! TYRES! :D

  • lol listen to that bang bang bang bang bang, thats a flat.

EMG breaks applied and wheel has locked up causing a small blemish on the wheel

  • it's nothing to do with that, it's to do with the poor adhesion and the train going into a slide dosen't neccesarly mean it's been the emergency brakes, step 1 can make a train slide, so can nothing up from a station too fast!

  • it will be easy for you to work in the trains because you are already in Europe, but I have to leave my country 1st....

  • I was planing to be pilot but it didn't work because I'm not rich and my sight is low, so I turned into trains, How beautiful it's when you drive a fast train^^

    it's wonderful

  • This is a great video. I really love cab videos and particularly in the snow.

  • I want to apply to be a train driver, what should I do?

  • Nice video, what traction is this?

  • Hm. Did you take this video yourself..? My partner filmed himself in the cab before, put it on youtube and came very close to getting fired.. be careful if it is yours.

  • this is a great video

  • fuqqin lubb it!

wish every day was like this!

  • Sounds like it had a flat tyre.

  • trains cant get flat tires!!

  • They can. Locos, carriages and wagons have traction tyres for extra grip but sometimes they can get flatspots. This is why some trains make banging noises as they pass, especially wagons. Watch the video "66057 on Horfield Bank" and you'll see what I mean.

  • kool well you learn something new everyday as they say ^_^ i am used to the ones that dont have tires lol!!

  • They don't have traction tyres dude, you're thinking of model trains. Most real trains have tyres because it's much cheaper to replace an outer steel tyre (as it wears or gets damaged wih a bad flat) than the whole wheel. It has nothing to do with traction or grip. However some stock has one-piece wheels with no tyre, I think Voyagers do for example.

  • How did he know that signal was cleared to a green? If it were red he would have spadded!

  • did you hear the 3rd beep? That's the AWS system. The first 2 mean yellow/red. The 3rd being different means the signal in front is green. Besides, this seems to be an approach signal so the driver would know it would go from yellow to green.

  • driver appears to have single yellow aspect at beginning of clip .yet doesnt start to brake and slow down ,why?

  • Actually the train is slowing down. Also, the next signal is green, so no need to slow to a stop.

  • ah how did he know the next signal would be green?would he or she have stopped if it had been red.the train appears to carry on at same speed after single yellow!

  • I'm not sure about trains in Scotland, but many trains have info display, that shows engineer the track ahead with signals and so.

Usually yellow means reduced speed limit before stopping to next red. It's possible that this train was already driving about that reduced speed before the yellow, and didn't need to slow that much anymore.

  • He's a cowboy!

  • I like this one,nice shot

  • It's just between Mossend & Whifflet. The second bridge you pass under is the A8 next to the old Shanks & McEwan at Carnbroe. Carnbroe on left. Rosehall on right.

  • What train is this from?

  • From the tread-brakes it sounds like a Class 156 super-sprinter to me.

  • It's Coatbridge as I live in nearby Airdrie

  • I'm from Coatbridge, That diesn't look like anywhere in Monklands to me.

  • Is it Cathcart Road? ;-)
