Nice song, but i think it gets kinda repetetive after a while, but thats maybe because a friend of me cant stop to hammer this song in my head all the time. Must be nice to hear this on a resturant
Some of you are so unbelievably critical. Trying to impress others with your objective statements about the track's lack of originality and inspiration only portrays you as a pretentious ass. It's laughable as you attempt to persuade us with your condescending guidelines to the perfect arrangement. You're more judgemental than the harshest doctors of musical theory. Let the song breath, It's only 'uninspired' because you can't seem to dissect it without a stunning array of worthless negativity.
I used to hear this song all the time when one of the local radio stations had a "music of your life" format. Then, they switched to an all-sports talk format and I never heard it again...until now. Thanks for posting it.
@greob "HURR HURR LOOK AT ME I LIKE INSULTING MUSIC BECAUSE I THINK I'M BETTER." Seriously, grow up. If you do not enjoy it, then move on. Don't insult music that other people enjoy.
@greob Do you mean in comparison to the original version? Because then I understand where you're coming from. It does sound different, but personally I like Vince Guaraldi's version better. It has this soft whimsical quality to it, which most of his works have.
@Mbutterfly1992 I don't know where you guys come from but I guess you've heard this tune on some sort of TV show. Therefore listening to this tune directly links to your affect. That's why you can't bear seeing any form of criticism formulated toward this recording. Now I admit my comment was way too generic so I should slap myself for that. This is NOT a bad recording at all, I just found it a little bit weak sometimes. Some parts could have been arranged better in my humble opinion. ;)
@greob I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. I was just asking because I didn't understand what you meant by weak . Weak as in Slower? Softer? less volume? Not enough emphasis at certain parts? I guess I'm just too specific for my own good. :)
By the way, Youtube is the first time I've heard this song. I just found it because I'm a big V.G. fan. :D
@Mbutterfly1992 No problem really. My first comment was too harsh and lacked arguments anyway so that's my own fault. Even though I don't known this tune very well, I like it played at this pace, and Guaraldi's works are usually fine with me. Thing is, apart from the low sound quality (perhaps the piano was bad?), the solos lack inspiration and variations, as well as real nuances. I was expecting better chord substitutions at some points for example. However, the choice of instruments is good.
Heard this on that same Breaking Bad Season 3 ep and wondered who it was... Then heard it on a Basquiat doc the very next day... Glad to have found that it was Guaraldi!
@fury661 take your time getting through it! trust me i made the mistake of getting all the way through 4 now i have to wait until this summer to see new episodes. Add 5 years to your life, wait until like June to watch season 4 because season 5 will be explosive.
@joshman783 Well, I'm already through all of season 3 and 4.... I wrote that comment six months ago. BB is probably the best show on television right now. Treme' is a strong contender for that title, though.
@djayo85 yeah, it was bugging me, I knew i had heard this number before, all the while watching Walt and Gael cook , couldn't place it.. knew the name had something to do with Japan... so first I thought, "Too Much Sake"?.. no..."So Sorry please" ?..nooo......er... "Koto Song ?" ...nnnoo...then i saw an article on the Ginza in the paper today... That's it !! soo..can anyone else name some jazz songs referring to Japan in their name?
Please! Does anyone have sheet music? Notes? Anything? :) Thank you

Wow this is not good at all. Lots of weaknesses in this tune. Poor execution too.
