@Annihal101 after watching several videos about this incrediable bird i become more and more sure that its a direct descendant of the Velociraptor. I love this bird. Its so beautiful and so dangerous at the same time. If this bird can do so much damage then imagine wat kinda damage a real Velociraptor could do. Thats scary!
Lulz, it reminds me of those Asian dragon/lion dancers. You know those guys that get under huge "lion" or "dragon" costumes and dance around at Asian festivals making it move like, well, like the bird is moving in the video. XD
That thing's pissed off. While watching, I was thinking, "Holy crap, look how close it is! Get the hell out of there, grab a stick or something to fend yourself, he'll rip you'r guts out!!" And then I saw the fence at 0:49.
TenStarsplus !!!!!! What I think this magnificent bird is doing is either marking it's territory, or sharpening it's claws like a cat does!!!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video!!! From a Yank who's got enough brains to never molest one of these beautiful but very dangerous birds !!!!!
Supposedly, those things can disembowel you with a single kick. Looking at the temper of the thing (and the length of those claws) I certainly can believe that.
what really happened is that someone has a thin fishing wire around the birds neck and is tugging it hard every now and then to make the bird look like a fool. This form of avian embarassment is like an erotic movie for most north australians.
it's bad enough that this thing would tear shreds out of you, it would also look absolutely ridiculous doing it so you'd be screaming and laughing at the same time.
This looks like aggressive energy release for an animal that is enclosed in a small area in a zoo somewhere (as you can hear the people and realize there is a barrier there). Animals confined in zoo's often exhibit aggressive, odd, and unhealthy behavior.

They are aggressive because they are solitary animals and have a territorial instinct. They attack with a 6 to 7 inch long dagger like claw on their first toes mostly jabbing rather than slashing, making it more deadly due to the fact that it will probably puncture a vital organ. Emus are only taller, but weigh less and are not as stocky and muscular. Largest emu I have ever raised was 162 lbs, and largest cassowary was 218 lbs.
I like to imagine that there are forests full of these birds, and every single one of them is *fucking furious* at all the trees that get in their way.
