How the hell did all you lot get a ticket for Heaton Park? Sheer bloody lucky. I was on the phone for hours.... someone better show it live on TV, or an Internet link. THink of all the unlucky bastards like me who have been waiting decades to see them live again.
The greatest song about cunnilingus ever written....I dont care, taste Ambre Solaire her, neck, her thighs, her lips, her hair....Ring a ding ding ding, Im going down :)
I agree with others - oral sex He's woken after partying for 2 days, call from Penny She wants sex (we've got to come/cum) - so come around She's lying on the bed ring a ding... round 1 oral sex? or leslie phillips saying Dansette crackles, record player / jimmy hendrix she's tastes of sun lotion (ambre solair) Her number 9 (vagina and clitoris) looks like a painting, jackson pollock - pubic hair come in to forest (pubic hair) and taste hard to please (erection) Well thats my view,
@matthewbgod hahaha, nice response!!!! In my defence I wasn't posting to show off deductive genius, i was replying to comments below like 'what is this song about' and 'the lyrics are shit'. I was trying to point out that the lyrics were in fact given the metaphors used, genius. By the way, you should maybe see a psychoanalyst, if every time you read or hear 'going down' you think of oral sex u need help. Wouldn't like to be in a lift with you 'going down anyone'? phwoor!! yes please!!! ;-)
Great band, John Squire was/is a phenomenally shit artist though. If a girl you met ever looked like Jackson Pollock no 5, i don't think you would be writing songs about her.
The lyrics are "passion looks like a painting" which I feel to be pretty apt. He wasn't referring to the girl but the feelings - makes me think of synaesthesia, how you can see what you feel in colours.
@sarahjanehall1313 The lyric is actually 'There she looks like a painting - Jackson Pollocks No 5'. It is a reference to the fact that the painting's swirly patterns are reminiscent of pubic hair.... sorry to be so obtuse, but that is what it says - and that is what the song is about.... I'll let you work out what 'come into the forest and taste the trees' is alluding to.
A know he might no like bein called royalty but fuck this fucker is ROYALTY . The good auld days man..when the summer days seemed to last forever . Quality cheers , legend dont stop sayin like it is man !
I was saying to someone only yesterday that listening to The Roses made me think of old summer days that seemed so much longer than those we have now. Spot on mate!
It's a story about one of Ian's fantasy, sixty's girls ie Pamela Corson and astral progection, that moment between awake and sleep and the regection of modernisation and the duality between art and beauty.
The Rusty Teardrop ,my band will send details so you can here us when our myspace is running, too all roses lovers you are Gods
i've often wondered what this mellow tune is about, if it's about anything lol, often thought it's about going down on a woman, but the ring a ding a ding part, makes me think it's about being knocked out lol
ring a ding ding....is an old saying by a brit actor, cant remember who (lesley phillips?) who saw a fit bird, usually a nurse in a movie and he'd say ring a ding, ding, ding. I maybe wrong though
It actually isn't. If you look hard enoug don't judge today's music on Britney Spears, PussyCat Dolls etc. you'll find that there's quality music about at the moment. Every generation since the dawn of age has said that about the next generation's style of music, people older than you porbably said the music about in the 90's was shit!
i loved the way this and where angels play were b-sides. made the singles all the better, the roses were too talented and proud for fillers. reni's harmonies are one of the best things about these songs i reckon
this is my favourite song from the greatest band ever, its a shame it was never realesed though! There is alot of talk about a reunion next year, would be an experience of a lifetime to see them live
no prob, for me one of their best songs, sun still shines, was never released at all, not even as a b-side , search it on here to find studio version and a live version
