I love Pavlova but there was no way that would qualify as an Amanar. When she lands, her feet and her body are not facing forward. In fact, they face sideways.
Why did they put a 5.5 SV ? It was supposed to be an Amanar with a 6.5 SV. She clearly underotated it. But they consider it as a 1.5 y???? it should have been counted as a DTY 5.8 SV ???NO??
@Missnewyork28 I think it was because she put up the number of a DTY but did the Amanar instead. So she had the 5.8 and lost 0.3 for posting the wrong number therefore 5.5.
That WAS DEFINITELY AN AMANAR! Why the judges devaluated it to a 5.5 A-score? If she was given a 6.5 A-score (with the B-score: 8.250), she would have ended up 2nd with an average score of 14.687. She WAS robbed.
yes anna was robbed she should have got a medal in bejing she is a true artistic gymnast, but the judges are looking at difficulty instead of artistic is seems.i believe if she would have upgraded the 3rd pass she would have medaled

well her amanar looked pretty nice in the air. too bad about the landing. but her DTY was amazing! she was robbed in athens but i also felt really bad for anna in beijing. she is amazing i thought she should have medaled AT LEAST once. but she's a joy to watch. i love her floor routine. she's one of the few gymnasts on floor who still focuses on tumbling AND DANCE. she has beautiful gymnastics.
In Athens, I thought this girl would be the one putting the pressure on Carly by the 3rd rotation. She had such beautiful gymnastics with pretty good technique there. I honestly feel that she outperformed Khorkina on some events. I hope she does well in Beijing, even if she does not medal, at least, a solid performance from her will be well worth watching.
Thanks for posting this! Pavlova was ROBBED in many ways at Athens in 2004. She is my favorite and I wish her so many good things at Beijing. I hope she does her very best and let the medals fall where they lay-she'll probably under-scored again.
I love that even at this stage in her career she is attempting an Amanar. Amazing. I love her and hope she gets into the medals-she was robbed at Athens.
She has virtually no shot at medalling on ANY event. VT is probably her best chance, but she'll need others to make mistakes. Her 2nd vault has a very low A value.
She has a more than legitimate shot of medalling with the team and she could definitely medal on BB. On VT she has the same SV with Alicia Sacramone, on FX she can have an A score of 6.2-6.3 if she upgrades a little. I remind you that she was very inconsistent before Athens as well, but she hit when it counted!
She hit when it counted in Athens and still didn't medal in the AA or BB. She won a medal on VT when others made mistakes.
I really like this gymnast and I hope she does well, but I'm not convinced of her medal chances in Beijing. She's good, but there's always someone better. She will need others to make mistakes.
Russia can definitely get bronze in team, but they need to be consistent or else Romania will take it. Beam is a long shot, with Liukin, Johnson, Nistor, and the Chinese in her way.
On BB she had a balance break and didn't connect her Kotchetkova to BHS-LOSO. So she didn't exactly hit. In the AA she was seriously underscored when Nan Zhang's scores were inflated. I'm not pretending she's the hot favourite to win, but in a sport as unpredictable as gymnastics, you should never take anything for granted.
do you know why they only credited her with a 5.5 here even though she attempted an amanar?? i thought they would just devalue it to a DTY. is it because she also twists while she's still on the table??
That was a bit of a mistake. The judges devalued from the value that she flashed (5.8, DTY) instead of what she did (6.5, Amanar). They later fixed the scores I think.
Pavlova's second vault is a Lopez,it was named after mexican gymnast Denisse Lopez. Also Raducan did it almost at the same time(1999-2000)Many sport commentators used to call this vault a Lopez- Raducan element.
Yeah, it was supposed to be a Y 2/1 twist; if you look at the replay on the double twist, she does an Amanar...
The only reason why they give her a 5.5 A Score, was because when you indicate the wrong vault, you get deducted a 0.3 from the original A Score that was flashed...
But that definately was an Amanar...
I suggest you get your facts right before posting... :)
If the vault that they intended to do was NOT performed, they recieve an A score deduction of 0.3...
Because Pavlova's original flashing of a Yurchenko 2/1 twist had an A Score of 5.8, they deducted 0.3 from the A Score because she performed the Amanar, giving a 5.5 A Score. Then they evaluate it as they see it...
They do; the gymnast also gets deducted 0.3 from the A Score they originally flashed IF they do NOT flash the correct vault number... Hence why her vault was assessed out of a 5.5
Still impressive.

@TsubasaDreams No, no deduction if the number isn't correct.
Otherwise, you could go for an Amanar and underotate it and get it devaluate as a DTY and get one more deduction? No!
It's just the judges!
samaraGW 11 months ago
@samaraGW In 2008, it was a deduction. It isn't anymore.

I wished she'd have trained and competed a Khorkina and an Amanar. Then, she'd have been a real contender on Vault at world competitions.
If she got more block off the horse I think she could pull of a Khorkina.

it is a 2TY! you can see that the A score is 5.8. she simply overrotated.

Amanar is a Yurchenko with 2.5 twists.
