The hurt locker was one of the retarded movies ive ever seen about the military. Literally NOTHING in that movie was correct (in reference to the military). Not to mention EOD is a joke in real life, there are not enough words in the dictionary to relate my cellular level hate i have for that movie, almost as much hate as i have for people who play WoW.
@airsoftNgames The story was there, but to me, it felt like I'd seen the story before. As much as I liked the Hurt Locker, I think Cameron should've won the Oscar for Avatar. Just for the huge effort that went into making it.
It kinda feels like the idea of "the first woman to win an Oscar for directing" was at the top of everyone's mind, above the actual movie. As if it was voted the winner just to prove a point.
how can 2 people dislike this? It's just Cameron talking about a film, What possibly about it cna there be to dislike? The deck chair in the background?
First off I wan't to start off by saying you don't disappoint, just like an easy girl. I always wake up and there's you're comment waiting for me to totally flip it on you haha. Why are you defending Avatar so much? it must be for that same reason cause i've seen the stuff on you're page and it's horrid. Maybe you should go to film school and learn a thing or two about cinema buddy, because I don't think james cameron could even save you're work.
Fuck that egotistical ass hole. Look at him trying to find a way to take credit for a film he didn't even make. There is such bad blood between the both of them, he's just playing it up for the cameras. Besides avatar was one if his worst films, Yeah it had pretty colors and mind blowing effects, But the story was so unoriginal. Great films don't need tons of special effects and a huge budget. Just a Great script and great acting ie the hurt locker.
@1301films An unoriginal story doesn't necessarily make it bad. Who seriously gives a crap if some aspects have been used before? Just enjoy the movie for God's sake.
And what's with the criticism over the tonne of CG? It's not like it's bad. It has revolutionized effects forever. And it's not like it harms the story. Why do so many people moan about these tiny aspects of the film? Seriously, why?
@ExplosivePus A tiny aspect of the film? I remeber correctly special effects and a shitty storry was all avatar was It's not like cg played a tiny roll in this movie it played a huge one. What i'm trying to say is too much of a good thing is never a good thing. It's like if they made a whole movie with explosions every second. yeah it looks cool but is it a great movie? nope
@1301films Why is a lot of Cg bad? Why? You act like CG in films is a bad thing. It is not, especially when it is done well and used well as in Avatar.
And they don't have pointless explosions every second. Every explosion has some inclusion to the story and a well-directed scene. Explosions aren't just mindlessly thrown into it every second. Where did you get that idea from anyway? Hell, have you even seen it?
Also, the story is very good. Just because it is unoriginal doesn't make it bad.
@ExplosivePus Wow did you even read my comments? I had just said that James Cameron is an excellent director, but the movie was ehh at best. It was just flashy effects and a mediocre story. Yes it had the best special effects of any movie to date and yes it was revolutionary. The academy of arts and sciences made the right decision in the end. Avatar was an entertaining film but was by no means "picture of the year" good.
@1301films Yes I did read your comments, and no where do you say James Cameron is an excellent director. All I remember was you complaining that Avatar had a "shitty storry" based on nothing except it being "unoriginal." Although, now you've come to admit that Avatar was a good film and that Cameron is a good director, which is good to see. Because it is the truth.
Also, why do you judge a movie to be good or bad based on if it is original or not? A film isn't defined by that.
@ExplosivePus Wow dude you're retarded. All i'm saying is that Hurt locker was a better film than Avatar. and everyone else seemed to think so as well thats why it won best picture and avatar won jack shit.
@ExplosivePus Damn girl relax. Never see anybody defend somebody else's work so much. You must want James Camerons nuts pretty bad huh? maybe you're hoping some of his talent will rub off on you're sorry ass hmm?
@ExplosivePus mmmmm. noo not really just annoyed by you and you're knowledge of nothing. I was stating an opinion and then you had to retort with stupid ass comments buddy
@1301films Yeh and you're opinion was based on nothing but lies and misinformation. And then I showed you this whilst destroying you and know you're annoyed lol.
@1301films I never said it wasn't an opinion you derelict douchebag, don't put words in my mouth.
I also LOL at you justifying an opinion based on lies just because an opinion can be based on anything - WTF dude. An absolute hilarious and moronic justification for being as intellectual and as educated as an orangutan.
@ExplosivePus "I also LOL at you justifying an opinion based on lies" holy shit you are retarded sir. You just said it again. Let me define an opinion for you. Opinion- is a subjective statement or thought about an issue or subject not based on facts but based on the judgement of the person. Damn you are so naive, did you even go to college? oh and derelict? You didn't really use that one in context either buddy. Did you mean to call me untrustworthy or carless cause that's what it means =)
@1301films Wtf? So according to you opinions cannot be based on lies?
And opinon *can* be based on lies because it is an OPINION, and for *that* very reason I chose to reply to you and argue your opinion with *my* opinion.
You just happened to ground your opinion on lies (that still makes it an opinion) - and that is why I destroyed you in our argument, because my opinon wasn't based on lies.
Note: OPINIONS CAN STILL BE BASED ON LIES OR TRUTH AND BE AN OPINION.
@1301films Oh and Derelict, definined by dictionary(.)com: a person abandoned by society, esp. a person without a permanent home and means of support; vagrant; bum.
@ExplosivePus Dude you're such an idiot, You're statements have no validity, how was my fucking opinion of a movie based on lies? I said that the movie was all special effects and it had a crappy story. Last time i checked that was "MY" opinion you cunt. And BTW derelict also means untrustworthy and carless you ignorant retard, and you still used it wrong, you basically called me a homeless douche bag when in reality, my garage is probably bigger than you're whole house.
@1301films If you've forgotting how you're opinion was based on lies then go and read our argument again, you know, the one where I destroyed you?
Also, alternate meanings is irrelevant, I still used it in context.
And if me calling you a derelict has been used wrong, then so is your use of the word cunt. Obviously I'm not really a cunt, but it's just used to insult somebody. Get it?
I laugh at how each reply of yours is absolutely dripping with hypocrisy.
@ExplosivePus I havent "forgotting" anything you dip shit, if you're going to try and insult me at least have the decency to use spell check you twat. You didn't destroy my argument because there was no argument to begin with. I was merely stating my opinion on the film and you felt compelled to defend it. I'm not going to back off because you're the one that started this whole thing, so i will keep replying so long as you keep posting, and i will continue to make you look like an idiot.
@1301films If you want to talk grammatical errors then why have you spelt haven't "havnt"? Once again, you're dripping with hypocrisy.
My mistake was a typo, as I don't waste time making sure my comment is perfect in spelling - because it doesn't matter.
And yes I destroyed you completely, to the point where you just told me to relax and claimed I just wanted James Cameron's talent to rub off onto me - not much of a strong argument eh?
@ExplosivePus oh and btw, which one are you in the videos, The younger kid or the older schmuck? I just wan't to know who I'm humiliating, or are you their pathetic excuse of a father? =]
@1301films Out of intrest I read ur whole argument an honestly I think you should just try asking him what's good about Avatar, what make worthy of Picture of the Year. I fully agree with what u said at the beggining and in the whole argument he never proved it was wrong he just said it was.
The Academy had it out for Cameron after his boorish showboating in '98. Everybody knows Avatar deserved it. Sure the story has been done before, but at least it's a good one compared to The Hurt Locker. And Bigelow certainly didn't deserve Best Director. Cameron slaved his ass off for years perfecting the technology behind Avatar, while Bigelow sat on her ass under a parasol in a fucking desert.
inglorious bastards should have won best picture and avatar SHOULD have won for BEST DIRECTOR because that movie was a directors movie all the way!. the hurt locker was just like "jar head" i thought it was an action war drama but it was just depressing drama..i didnt like at all
I somehow managed to watch whole 'hurt locker' (it got a lot oscars, so i though it was worth watching). Two words: boring film. Nothing new, nothing interesting, only the same story of cowboys in iraq. Of course its just mine opinion.
@ShadowOfUndead oh blow me, i agree hurt locker wasn't groundbreaking, but since when the fuck wass avatar groundbreaking, i mean its an absolutely cliche. dont be calling hurt locker unoriginal when you put it next to avatar, avatar is nothing but visuals, it doesn't get more unoriginal then avatar
@malows1234 ? And when did I wrote anything about Avatar? I only stated my opinion about hurt locker. Why sudden hatred? I can understandt that you hate Avatar but why must you talk about it in discussion about hurt locker?
watched the hurt locker sooo boring i turned it off im tired of seeing movies about the war in iraq.... and i hate when ppl say that they dont like james cameron because of avatar well if avatar wasn't a good movie then why the hell did it do so good at the box office huh?
@ibelievein30STM avatar was a great movie but the hurt locker was perfect because avatar was predictable the hurt locker wasnt predictable i never knew what was going to happen and was a very realistic movie of course it has some mistakes but it still perfect
@minato12100 ur kidding the hurt locker was predictable all movies these days are predictable anyway... if its a movie about the iraq war its predictable to me sorry
If the hurt locker was realistic it would redeem itself for having no plot, but it wasn't. It's a movie with no story to tell. Then again so is Pulp Fiction when you think about it, but at least Pulp Fiction had cool dialogue.
@MarkArandjus lol yeah Samuel Jackson was real funny in that. I wish I would do more roles like that than star in stuff in muda f'in snakes on a plane.
@ricky93100 i would say avatar was overrated because of its special effects and action scenes that are fucking great but the script was very simple and predictable
Hurt Locker is the most overrated movie in the history of cinematography, even I could direct such a simple movie... I mean 6 Oscars? R U kiddin' me? Avatar trailer was more fun to watch than hurt locker - what was so difficult about it to direct? She used few slow-mow scenes - big deal
Avatar had 3 problems. 1) It was very scathing of US foreign policy, 2) its message was quite anti-capitalistic, and, last but not least; 3) it portrayed a white man in a positive relationship with a non-white woman. If you go before an American jury with that kind of cocktail, it's really no surprise that they decide now is the perfect time to herald the first female director who just "happened" to be a white woman.
I don't see why people hate Titanic or Avatar. Listen to the creator of both films in this video. He's totally supporting his ex-wife. That's pretty freakin' awesome. And, Bigelow said how honored she was to be nominated with James Cameron.
Anyway, you people have to respect how many people loved Titanic and Avatar. They've become cultural icons in a very short time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Kathryn Bigelow was not the right winner for the oscar. James Cameron should have been the winner. A friend works at the military bomb squad and he has been in Afghanistan a few times and he also thought de movie was absolute bullshit. Avatar was so much better.
@PBANDSNOW Waste of time and money ?? I thought Avatar was very over hyped and over rated but how was it a waste of time and money ? It got many Oscar noms and made over 2 billion dollars at the box office. The movie made over a billion dollars in profit.
@donobo And plenty of troops loved Hurt locker, Avatar is a very anti army movie. Hurt locker was not meant to be very accurate, it was meant to be a fun thrill ride which it was, Avatar was a good spectacle film, Hurt locker was a great real movie.
Wow man very intelligent there. However, I do take your point which is why I said that a major reason is because of the USA economical benefit however, i agree with you by saying it was an excuse on the political world stage. If the US left today, the sunni, shia and al' quaeda conflict would reamerge in Iraq and it's the US's fault for not putting in place a stable government after the fall of Saddam.
Also, mate you got to learn to read man. I said that there weren't any weapons of mass destruction's and Saddam has always harvering leaders of Al Qaeda but the US combined that with the threat of WMD's as an excuse to go into Iraq on the back on 9/11, so I agree with you. I said all this before, I just don't know why you're against me man. Or is it just an alpha-male thing where you got to insult someone just so you can say to yourself "Yes, I do have a testicles, Hooray for me!"hmm fair enough
just dont stereotype a whole country man thats all im saying, I dont like being called fat and dumb, not all americans are fat and dumb. and I know you didnt say that but you did say we were all about war and that is very untrue.
yeh mate i agree, i went to America about a year ago and some of the nicest people I've ever met and I'd never like to stereotype any country and am sorry if I have. I don't agree with a lot of the desitions made by the Bush administration, which is what I'm mainly critisizing, but the US people I've met have all been welcoming and I hope that UK and US troops come back safely.
yea man I hear you, we all live on the same earth, we need to get out of that desert. Im shipping out for the navy in July and I would hate to see another conflict
Os99 is a your typical high schooler who just log in to YouTube to talk trash, Hurt locker is nothing orignal either the story has been used also, so how about you do your research and stop getting butt hurt you get nothing out of arguing
Mate, most people come on here to argue. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just standing up for my views and if anyone wants to counter argue then I'm all for it lol. Btw, name one film that is anything like The Hurt Locker? Yes many of the major themes have been used as like every film in the world but the context that those themes has been put into is infinantly more original then Avatar and James Cameron is right when saying this will be the Platoon of the Iraq War
Avatar was a global success. Whereas Hurt Locker was narrower in its target audience. Ten years from now everyone will remember Avatar and nobody will remember The Hurt Locker.
The narrower the target audience, the more it is challenging cinema as a medium. The Hurt Locker pushed the boundaries of conventional narrative and structure, and is really the bigger achievement out of the two if you put them at face value.
very well said, after all the hate,i decided on seeing the movie, and i was speechless, the most realistic war movie ever made,no drama and nothing was out of place.
You're kidding right? Is that how you see it? I would much rather see 100 million more Avatars than any one Hurt Locker. The Hurt Locker didn't push ANY boundaries that wasn't there before... in much better war films like Saving Private Ryan, etc.
Yeah but it still doesn't beat point break does it lol.
They sugar coated it with the word action which there was none of. It was too slow paced to even have traces of an action film. the road should have been the big winner of last year. It was just un original and my friend in iraq who has seen somethings said when they screened it nearly every soldier hated it. Let's face it hollywood has it's hands too deep into every big film now. 40 years ago maybe the film could have been gd.
@chairde People who love great cinema will remember Hurt locker, the mindless masses may not but who cares about them ? The mindless mainstream sheep also think Transformers is a great movie. There is a reason most of Hollywood actors no longer care what the masses think, it's because the masses know nothing about cinema, most have never even heard of Kurosawa or Frank Capra.
@chairde No I am not comparing(but Hurt locker was a masterfully made film), I am saying the masses that love the latest CGI driven spectacle know nothing about cinema, most of the masses have never heard or Kurosawa or Victor Fleming, some have not even heard of the great artists that are around today like Daniel Day Lewis or Phiilip Seymour Hoffman.
I'm sorry mate but the Hurt Locker is way better then Saving Private Ryan mainly because Saving Private Ryan is such an ordinary film that it is boring, apart from the first 20 mins while The Hurt Locker is magnificent in it's whole running time. And if your talking about realistic, you think 10 soldiers travelling across Nazi occupied France to find one man and bring him home is realistic?... yeh well done mate!
@os99 realistic?? yeah im talking about the actual combat scenes in the fucking movie, saving private ryan was way more realistic, u think its realistic, that an insurgent with a detonator is watching an eod guy defuse the bomb without blowing it up???
I will also admit that the first 20 mins of Saving Private Ryan is a masterful piece of film-making and the best scene of war ever captured on film but if you took that away then it would be a bore-fest
@walletman23 ok. A few guys go across nazi occupied Europe with the single mission of finding one guy so he can go home but most of them die except for private ryan. Completely realistic
@os99 bro some propaganda is not easy to spot, ur telling me the an american would go right next to a guy with a fucking bomb vest strapped on?? and then try to cut the locks on it?? r u kidding me he would get the fuck out of there in 2 seconds
Mate, that's not propaganda, bomb disposal experts are some of the highest paid people in the army and they dispose of bomb threats that are in view in the public eye so civilians aren't killed, look it up. Also, that scene, though not realistic, is a key plot point that shows a humanity to this man that is seen to be different from his fellow soldiers but how the 'drug of war' is very fine line between the thrill and the reality of death.
Also, after coming out of the cinema after watching that, I really don't have the urge to be a bomb disposal expert lol, and if it was meant to propaganda, then it was shit as the first bomb disposal guy gets killed and the main character becomes so isolated from reality that all he lives for is disposing bombs... yes sounds just like propaganda mate lol
@ 12101977 Why don't you show some respect for our troops. The film depicts what our troops are facing in Iraq. If you have no respect for our troops then you have no respect for our great nation
hurt locker bad. yeah right. it shows the true side of the war. tht it isnt like a video game wear the enemy fights with honor and uses generals
but it shows how they cowar and hide behind civilians. and how they use hit and run tactics.
I guess you like fantisy stuff. instead of judgeing movies by what some fuck as told you about war(he has never been) read books and talk to iraq vetrans before you such as think you know something about this conflict
look pass the realism of visual arts and look at the message the movie portrays.the politically corrected movie won, especially when your nation is at war. avatar exposed a brutally truthful message that the american militry cause destruction and death for profit and natural recources. since the american invasion of iraq,7 million iraqi civilians have been killed, left in poverty or homeless, for what=oil, profit etc.how does this make american militry heroes? james cameron exposed a painful truth
@Razzel2006 James camron just made a multi million dollar movie and you act like its your fucking bible.
grow some balls and actualy go to war before you think you know everything about whats going on over their. your facts are just plan stupid who the fuck tells you this bullshit you queers of a father who hasnt been anywhere all his damn life
good god dont make such a personal ignorant comment. im just making a point. thiers nothing factually wrong in what i said. millions of iraqi 'have' been killed for what??? no WMD etc. wake up man. and these facts are completely dismissed by the western media, these facts come from the millions of iraqis who rebuild thier homes and bury thier love ones. dont be a dumb and wake up. the western media is extremely biased, dont be ratarted idiot.
Mate you haven't watched The Hurt Locker, it has nothing to do about 'death, distruction of the US military' its a character study of how three men have been thrusted into one of the most tense jobs on the face of the planet and their juxtraposition of masculinity between the three of them that helps them deal with that constant tension. There is not one single mention of resources and the only time a civilian is killed in the film is because if Iraqi insurgents...
Plus James Cameron is only coping subject matter that has been used in hundreds of films before like, Dances With Wolf's, The Searchers and Pocahontas. Also, do some research about Iraq before you start making a political argument. If the US soldiers weren't in there at the moment, there would be Civil War between the Sunni and Shia Muslims and their history of violence before Saddam Hussein dictated Iraq through fear, so most of the US soldiers are trying to stabilise the situation.
However, I won't be a complete idiot and I will say that resources of oil are a major factor for them being in the middle east as well though, just because James Cameron put it in his film, doesn't make him a fucking genius. Everyone knows about the controversy over the oil struggle out there!
your such a pawn of your media, look how many dictators thier are in this world, genocide happens in africa all the time, arfrican people are at civil war mate where millions die of famine. but noooo lets go after a country with lots of oil . you so fucking stupid, put your flag hat away and wake up.if the U.S really cared about suffering they would be invading many nations especially africa.look whats happening in iraq now, energy companies like haliburton are buying and sucking up oil fields.
Mate calm down and stop being so stupid. I'm not even an American and I agree, one of the big reason is to exploit Iraq resources but they started a war because of the hunt for Al Qaeda in Afganistan but US intelligence found reason to believe that Iraq and Saddam Hussain were harvering leaders of Al Qaeda so the US overthrew the government and set the dictatorship free. However, a major downfall in the was the Sunni and Shia Muslims continued their conflict and members of the Taliban...
are still assassinating key political leaders that coalition forces are trying to put into government. So you can't exactly leave a country that you've cause political and social conflict. But yes I do agree about the oil and the thing about Iraq having "Weapons Of Mass Destruction" is very false where there has been no conclusive evidence. Mate I had to study all this conflict and it is one total mindfuck lol. And I also agree that Western powers should do more to help other countries in need.
There are millions and millions of Americans against the war buddy, so stop pointing your finger, your a hypocrite look at your country the UK what the fuck have you guys done for relief. You act like just because there are brave men and women in the middle east that that means they are over there for oil, are you fucking dumb, its the politicians you fucking fuck ball
Mate, you know debt relief and the whole G8 summits, there agreement was that the world powers should give 2% of overall taxes to help relief debt. At the moment, the USA is only giving out 0.8% while the UK is giving out 1.4% so we are giving a little more relief if u wanna talk about that but also we are helping you lot in the struggle in the middle east and I hope we find a peaceful solution and I agree that it's the politicians fault so calm down mate
Are the dictators and genocide America's fault? Does America need to take over countries to get oil? Is it realistic to send military to ALL the poor nations of the world? Is it bad to be patriotic?
I am a realist. None of what you are trying to say makes sense in the long run. I am not trying to make you mad, I am just tired of all the USA bashing. I live in a country that kicked ass over a breakfast beverage in the 1700's. Give Africa a little of that pride and see what happens.
@Razzel2006 what fucking message does avatar have?! it's story line is shit and is so cliche its stupid atleast with the hurtlocker it has better story.
Fuck that Avatar was amazing. I don't understand why everyone is knocking it now. Everyone has seen it. It was a fucking awesome movie, I couldnt give less of a fuck how it cost or david vs goliath bull shit that movie was nuts. Take it for what it is and forget the outside tension. James knows he's the king

You know Cameron really wanted to say that our troops are monsters and all war is wrong. It is good to see a movie that praises our troops snatch the Oscar away from this liberal hippie fuck.
These Oscars have just turned into a petty squabble about feminism. The Hurt Locker was good but not THAT good. Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time and has revolutionised cinema - many future blockbusters are going to have to be made in 3D because Cameron's movie raised the bar so high.
He was of a victim of his own success on this one - you get too good and people turn against you. Ask Bill Gates.
why does this nigga always where the same clloths for fucks sake he has 600 million dollars in this fucking pocket

ExplosivePus 1 year ago
@ExplosivePus my "opinion" was based on lies? an opinion doesn't have to be based on anything, that's why it's called an "opinion" retard.
1301films 1 year ago
@1301films I never said it wasn't an opinion you derelict douchebag, don't put words in my mouth.
I also LOL at you justifying an opinion based on lies just because an opinion can be based on anything - WTF dude. An absolute hilarious and moronic justification for being as intellectual and as educated as an orangutan.
ExplosivePus 1 year ago
@ExplosivePus "I also LOL at you justifying an opinion based on lies" holy shit you are retarded sir. You just said it again. Let me define an opinion for you. Opinion- is a subjective statement or thought about an issue or subject not based on facts but based on the judgement of the person. Damn you are so naive, did you even go to college? oh and derelict? You didn't really use that one in context either buddy. Did you mean to call me untrustworthy or carless cause that's what it means =)
1301films 1 year ago
@1301films Wtf? So according to you opinions cannot be based on lies?
And opinon *can* be based on lies because it is an OPINION, and for *that* very reason I chose to reply to you and argue your opinion with *my* opinion.
You just happened to ground your opinion on lies (that still makes it an opinion) - and that is why I destroyed you in our argument, because my opinon wasn't based on lies.
Note: OPINIONS CAN STILL BE BASED ON LIES OR TRUTH AND BE AN OPINION.
ExplosivePus 1 year ago
@1301films Oh and Derelict, definined by dictionary(.)com: a person abandoned by society, esp. a person without a permanent home and means of support; vagrant; bum.
ExplosivePus 1 year ago
@ExplosivePus Dude you're such an idiot, You're statements have no validity, how was my fucking opinion of a movie based on lies? I said that the movie was all special effects and it had a crappy story. Last time i checked that was "MY" opinion you cunt. And BTW derelict also means untrustworthy and carless you ignorant retard, and you still used it wrong, you basically called me a homeless douche bag when in reality, my garage is probably bigger than you're whole house.
1301films 1 year ago
@1301films If you've forgotting how you're opinion was based on lies then go and read our argument again, you know, the one where I destroyed you?
Also, alternate meanings is irrelevant, I still used it in context.
And if me calling you a derelict has been used wrong, then so is your use of the word cunt. Obviously I'm not really a cunt, but it's just used to insult somebody. Get it?
I laugh at how each reply of yours is absolutely dripping with hypocrisy.
ExplosivePus 1 year ago
@ExplosivePus I havent "forgotting" anything you dip shit, if you're going to try and insult me at least have the decency to use spell check you twat. You didn't destroy my argument because there was no argument to begin with. I was merely stating my opinion on the film and you felt compelled to defend it. I'm not going to back off because you're the one that started this whole thing, so i will keep replying so long as you keep posting, and i will continue to make you look like an idiot.
1301films 1 year ago
@1301films If you want to talk grammatical errors then why have you spelt haven't "havnt"? Once again, you're dripping with hypocrisy.
My mistake was a typo, as I don't waste time making sure my comment is perfect in spelling - because it doesn't matter.
And yes I destroyed you completely, to the point where you just told me to relax and claimed I just wanted James Cameron's talent to rub off onto me - not much of a strong argument eh?
Don't believe me? Scroll up and read it.

If the hurt locker was realistic it would redeem itself for having no plot, but it wasn't. It's a movie with no story to tell. Then again so is Pulp Fiction when you think about it, but at least Pulp Fiction had cool dialogue.

@ricky93100 i would say avatar was overrated because of its special effects and action scenes that are fucking great but the script was very simple and predictable
minato12100 1 year ago
Hurt Locker is the most overrated movie in the history of cinematography, even I could direct such a simple movie... I mean 6 Oscars? R U kiddin' me? Avatar trailer was more fun to watch than hurt locker - what was so difficult about it to direct? She used few slow-mow scenes - big deal
kurvatakco 1 year ago
Avatar had 3 problems. 1) It was very scathing of US foreign policy, 2) its message was quite anti-capitalistic, and, last but not least; 3) it portrayed a white man in a positive relationship with a non-white woman. If you go before an American jury with that kind of cocktail, it's really no surprise that they decide now is the perfect time to herald the first female director who just "happened" to be a white woman.

Wow man very intelligent there. However, I do take your point which is why I said that a major reason is because of the USA economical benefit however, i agree with you by saying it was an excuse on the political world stage. If the US left today, the sunni, shia and al' quaeda conflict would reamerge in Iraq and it's the US's fault for not putting in place a stable government after the fall of Saddam.
os99 2 years ago
Also, mate you got to learn to read man. I said that there weren't any weapons of mass destruction's and Saddam has always harvering leaders of Al Qaeda but the US combined that with the threat of WMD's as an excuse to go into Iraq on the back on 9/11, so I agree with you. I said all this before, I just don't know why you're against me man. Or is it just an alpha-male thing where you got to insult someone just so you can say to yourself "Yes, I do have a testicles, Hooray for me!"hmm fair enough

Btw, name one film that is anything like The Hurt Locker? Avatar was a global success. Whereas Hurt Locker was narrower in its target audience. Ten years from now everyone will remember Avatar and nobody will remember The Hurt Locker.

The narrower the target audience, the more it is challenging cinema as a medium. The Hurt Locker pushed the boundaries of conventional narrative and structure, and is really the bigger achievement out of the two if you put them at face value.

@chairde People who love great cinema will remember Hurt locker, the mindless masses may not but who cares about them ? The mindless mainstream sheep also think Transformers is a great movie. @CrizMe1 not better then saving private ryan no way, definetely not more realistic
tupacIzAlive33 2 years ago
I'm sorry mate but the Hurt Locker is way better then Saving Private Ryan mainly because Saving Private Ryan is such an ordinary film that it is boring, apart from the first 20 mins while The Hurt Locker is magnificent in it's whole running time. And if your talking about realistic, you think 10 soldiers travelling across Nazi occupied France to find one man and bring him home is realistic?... yeh well done mate!
os99 2 years ago
@os99 realistic?? yeah im talking about the actual combat scenes in the fucking movie, saving private ryan was way more realistic, u think its realistic, that an insurgent with a detonator is watching an eod guy defuse the bomb without blowing it up???
tupacIzAlive33 2 years ago
I will also admit that the first 20 mins of Saving Private Ryan is a masterful piece of film-making and the best scene of war ever captured on film but if you took that away then it would be a bore-fest

tupacIzAlive33 2 years ago
Mate, that's not propaganda, bomb disposal experts are some of the highest paid people in the army and they dispose of bomb threats that are in view in the public eye so civilians aren't killed, look it up. Also, that scene, though not realistic, is a key plot point that shows a humanity to this man that is seen to be different from his fellow soldiers but how the 'drug of war' is very fine line between the thrill and the reality of death.
os99 2 years ago
Also, after coming out of the cinema after watching that, I really don't have the urge to be a bomb disposal expert lol, and if it was meant to propaganda, then it was shit as the first bomb disposal guy gets killed and the main character becomes so isolated from reality that all he lives for is disposing bombs... yes sounds just like propaganda mate lol

hurt locker bad. yeah right. it shows the true side of the war. tht it isnt like a video game wear the enemy fights with honor and uses generals
but it shows how they cowar and hide behind civilians. and how they use hit and run tactics.

look pass the realism of visual arts and look at the message the movie portrays.the politically corrected movie won, especially when your nation is at war. avatar exposed a brutally truthful message that the american militry cause destruction and death for profit and natural recources. since the american invasion of iraq,7 million iraqi civilians have been killed, left in poverty or homeless, for what=oil, profit etc.how does this make american militry heroes? james cameron exposed a painful truth

Razzel2006 2 years ago
Mate you haven't watched The Hurt Locker, it has nothing to do about 'death, distruction of the US military' its a character study of how three men have been thrusted into one of the most tense jobs on the face of the planet and their juxtraposition of masculinity between the three of them that helps them deal with that constant tension. There is not one single mention of resources and the only time a civilian is killed in the film is because if Iraqi insurgents...
os99 2 years ago
Plus James Cameron is only coping subject matter that has been used in hundreds of films before like, Dances With Wolf's, The Searchers and Pocahontas. Also, do some research about Iraq before you start making a political argument. If the US soldiers weren't in there at the moment, there would be Civil War between the Sunni and Shia Muslims and their history of violence before Saddam Hussein dictated Iraq through fear, so most of the US soldiers are trying to stabilise the situation.
os99 2 years ago
However, I won't be a complete idiot and I will say that resources of oil are a major factor for them being in the middle east as well though, just because James Cameron put it in his film, doesn't make him a fucking genius. Everyone knows about the controversy over the oil struggle out there!
os99 2 years ago
your such a pawn of your media, look how many dictators thier are in this world, genocide happens in africa all the time, arfrican people are at civil war mate where millions die of famine. but noooo lets go after a country with lots of oil . you so fucking stupid, put your flag hat away and wake up.if the U.S really cared about suffering they would be invading many nations especially africa.look whats happening in iraq now, energy companies like haliburton are buying and sucking up oil fields.
Razzel2006 2 years ago
Mate calm down and stop being so stupid. I'm not even an American and I agree, one of the big reason is to exploit Iraq resources but they started a war because of the hunt for Al Qaeda in Afganistan but US intelligence found reason to believe that Iraq and Saddam Hussain were harvering leaders of Al Qaeda so the US overthrew the government and set the dictatorship free. However, a major downfall in the was the Sunni and Shia Muslims continued their conflict and members of the Taliban...
os99 2 years ago
are still assassinating key political leaders that coalition forces are trying to put into government. And I also agree that Western powers should do more to help other countries in need.
os99 2 years ago
There are millions and millions of Americans against the war buddy, so stop pointing your finger, your a hypocrite look at your country the UK what the fuck have you guys done for relief. You act like just because there are brave men and women in the middle east that that means they are over there for oil, are you fucking dumb, its the politicians you fucking fuck ball
NoCash4LeftoverCrack 2 years ago
Mate, you know debt relief and the whole G8 summits, there agreement was that the world powers should give 2% of overall taxes to help relief debt. At the moment, the USA is only giving out 0.8% while the UK is giving out 1.4% so we are giving a little more relief if u wanna talk about that but also we are helping you lot in the struggle in the middle east and I hope we find a peaceful solution and I agree that it's the politicians fault so calm down mate
os99 2 years ago
@ Razzel2006
Are the dictators and genocide America's fault? Does America need to take over countries to get oil? Is it realistic to send military to ALL the poor nations of the world? Is it bad to be patriotic?
I am a realist. None of what you are trying to say makes sense in the long run. I am not trying to make you mad, I am just tired of all the USA bashing. I live in a country that kicked ass over a breakfast beverage in the 1700's. Give Africa a little of that pride and see what happens.

The troops weren't the villains in Cameron's movie. The people in control were the villains. Watch it again without military blinders.
