  • ACTION NEWS!!!

The standard CBS O&O that would use that title, while all the others used "Channel 2 News" for their newscast branding.

WCBS, WCAU (now owned by NBC) and WBBM used Channel 2 News.

  • Two words: "cheesy sensationalism."

  • This was during the final part of John Lippman's reign of terror. Last I heard, he was working in spanish TV.

  • Scott Chapin I thought he did Promos for the Fox O&O's

  • He did promos for the CBS O&Os during the early 90s. I have stuff he did on CAU around 1993.

And is it me, or is that the STUPIDEST slogan to use for a newscast? "Action News! The one on 2!"

  • It sounds like a rip-off of San Francisco's KTVU- "There's Only One Two".

  • Scott Chapin wouldn't do KTTV until at least 1997. Other markets where Chapin did more than one station include Houston (KPRC/KRIV), Denver (KMGH/KDVR), New York City (WNBC/WNYW), Chicago (WBBM/WFLD), Orlando (WKMG/WOFL), Philadelphia (WCAU/WTXF), Provindence (WPRI/WNAC), and Scranton (WNEP/WOLF).

  • Scott Chapin's scary ass promo voice over!!!
