@NerdyAndJerkish he didnt deserve to die, this was a mercy killing, if george left him he would of stupidly killed again, he was a good guy, the shot is sending him to heaven to finaly tend the rabbits
I have read this book about 40 times and I still don't like the story, then i see the film and i like it. Maybe it's because my teacher says it in a weird accent xD
I didnt reely like this ending, cause when he shot him,it kinda made him look heartless,in the others it looked more like he was actually not wanting to do it :l get me?
The book's ending was sadder than in this movie. In the movie, I hate to say it, but it' easier to make fun of. In the book, it's nothing to laugh about.
thats so efeed up i have a cousin just like lennie hes 30 but instead of rabbits he likes to play with those 5 year old little cars. and his dad died and he lives with his mom. and they are very poor. why do god made him like that?
@akakonvict21 (My OPINION only, dont want to offend, dont read on if you dont want to) God didn't make him like that. There is no God, we go around the track once in life. This film is so sad, but poignant, in that there are times in life where people have no choice, at nobody elses fault, to do things which they don't want to. It was not George's fault, Lennie's fault, your cousin's fault or God's. It just... is.
my class laughed when he got shot, because of the way it happened. and my teacher was like, 'YOU GUYS ARE TWISTED!' haha. i miss my english teacher from last year. he was SO funny. we asked him if he went to the gym and he said: no, i just naturally have the body of a goddess. yes, he said goddess. :p
we never got to watch to the end after reading the book in english, thats so sad :( lol, i thought he would have said fata the land funnier in the movie but he didnt :P
@kunduraci1995 My english professor got sooo mad at my class
We all started laughing XD
She probably thought we'd all get out just deserts if we ended up in hell.
Funnier still, a girl told a story about how she saw an old woman get run over by a garbage truck the week before, and the same thing happened again XD
this was the movie in which i fell in love with these two characters, especially john malkovich, it was adorable, educational and totally touching. Cathartic, but in an english lesson it was pretty awkward lol
John Steinbeck has always been one of my favorite writers. Movie was well done, But, could have J.M. performed with dif, actors? Thanks for the clip!
george shoots lennie because if he went to jail and be with out george he will suffer. Candy also saids he had to kill his own dog and not let a stranger kill it so george shoots lennie instead of curly doing it.
In the book, Lennie said that he wanted to go there now. Then George shot him. The shooting was a metaphor. He was "sending" Lennie to the "house" Which I interpret as heaven. Candy wanted to go, because he was old, in the book, Crooks wanted to but didn't, presumably because he's young. SORRY
Because Lennie was going to be killed, anyway - Either from the lynch mob or by going to prison and being hung. Lennie is George's responsibility, and George felt as though it should be he who killed him in peace, as opposed to the mob or prison in fear.
i have to say ... in this time of the year 2009 and boys my age group (15 years of age ) will just get board over this movie .... but ... about me ... it ent the same . every time i fink about this movie ... i get sooooooo upsettttt. :(....... i usually hate old movies like this ... but this is soo different ... ITS JUS SOOOOOOOO EMOTIONAL.... hope u gys liked it too ...
i hate this book i hate this movie nothing about this story line seems interesting to me but this part is od sad tho i aint gunna front but god damn this is one of the most boring storylines ever
because Lenny was in trouble and some men were coming to kill him. George didn't want Lenny to die afraid, so he kiled him while he had a happy thought in his head
in the book, lennie sees a haulusination (sorry spelling) of his aunt clara and of a mouse both saying how bad he is to george and how george doesnt want him and when george kills lennie, he doesnt just straight up shoot him like in the movie, he hesitats and it draws up more suspense
anyone that laughs at something like this is ignorant. its really sad and its something that hits you in the heart. its a shame it had to end that way.
this film shows how bad it's really going to get before all this "credit crunch" is over. People really will be wandering from town to town looking for any old job
A great book my students loved it! The movie should have showed the lynching farmhands and Curley coming upon them ever so slightly to add to the suspense of it.
Lennie was forever a child-trapped in a man's body.
A fault line of isolation splinters and permeates through the entire story. Through every encounter, it replicates.
Each character desperately reaching out for some semblance of interaction, only to find that they're alone. In a world of a billion people-they're alone.
The only two who had found a connection were Lennie & George. They had each other. Woven like fabric. A dream held the fabric together, The world around them ripped it apart.
Most people read it at school in the UK as it's part of the English literature curriculum for the Welsh exam board and possibly the others. Still, the film was a great incarnation of John Steinbecks classic novel

Of Mice and Men is a simple story. Steinbeck could show many facets of humanity and inhumanity that he knew.
Death shouldn't occur this way, but it does. Steinbeck was only pointing that out to people, with his short story.
