I understand. I gave this book a 5 star rating because I genuinely loved it all the way through. I am also big on romance, but the type of romance presented in this novel was jarring. When it happened, I was just trying to figure out what happened to my awesome ass characters, they all seemed to turn to mush without reason or warning. If it were split into two books, I definitely wouldn't have liked the second half as much.
Renee, I also didn't enjoy this book. There have been so many books that everyone seems to be raving about but to me the books haven't been very good. Gladly, because I've noticed a lot of the new books aren't living up to their hype I've been checking more books out from the library. I kept trying to force myself to continue this book but I just couldn't. I didn't even make it to the romance part so.... Anyway, please keep being honest. I'm a big fan. Peace!

You've always been clear they're YOUR opinions, and an individual's opinion is usually not everyone's. Don't feel bad for that. Love at first sight is such a common thing in books, it's so unnecessary. But I found out that a lot of people are really into the idea of fated love, that's why it keeps being done.
I was hearing a lot of praise for this book, even though I never had any idea of what it was about. Thanks for telling a good synopsis Renee :) I'll check it out for these cool things you were enjoying :)

It makes the choosing process much easier and with people who arent hung up on slandering for your choice, it helps in every aspect. The romance aspect in novels at the moment seem dense.

sometimes i think it's not the romance or the storyline, but it's how the authors individualise it. yes the whole repettitive thing is annoying, but it seems to be what sells. if you ever visit a book called the seven basic plots you'll realise that many stories are very much the same. romeo and juliet and pride and prejudice for example. have similar elements in them. I decide to enjoy the writing style of authors more than any thing else.

This is exactly what I thought, loved the beginning, ROMANCE URGH, but then the end with the masquerade started to get interesting again. I need to put up a review of it asap.
Wonderful review as always, Renee! :) I saw Becks' review yesterday and upon watching yours, I can't say I'm less intrigued to read this; however, my guard is now up.
This is already the second review I saw that said that the romance wasn't great and rushed in this book. I had trouble with Taylor's writing style in one of her other books and when you add to this the weird and rushed romance plot I think I will not pick up this book.
Hope you will soon pick up a great book that will get you out of your reading funk.
