I have a 2010 M8 sp. The sleds rock. I ride with Polaris dragons and Skidoo XP's I have alot of respect for those sleds. As near as I can tell, some run better than others in different conditions. I would not be afraid to own any one of them. Each has its problems. Its comes down to dealer, what you want, your set up and what problem you want to deal with.

My HCR 2010 was good at the beginning, but after 100 km. the engine was much more powerful, I have drive it hard in..

So I think, before testing the new Cat vs summit that is one year old or two, let the new 800 engine for m8 have some mile on it, 300-500 km. and then I think we should have a more exactly answer.. Harder you drive it in, better breake in for the engine :)

My buddy rides an '10 M8, and I ride an '08 XP. He can beat me across the lake on hardpack by about that much. But as soon as the snow gets deeper than 2 feet, I can highmark him all day long. The M8 is a great lake racer, but not so much of a hillclimber..... JMO

I'm not sure what the lug profile depth is, but it is definitely not an inch. I know mine are 2.25 in and I think the SnoPro M8's are the same. His is a 153, and mine a 154

an xp does not spank an m8 ive seen it go both ways and its all about the best line in deep stuff any way. My buddies ride 2 xp 800s,a m8 and an m8hcr and we r always beating eachother the m series and xp's r neck and neck and this takes place in cooke city and the snow is crazy deep. there must be something done to the arctic cat because i speak from experience i have an 07 arctic cat m8 153 and my dad has an 08 skidoo summit x 151 and we drag all of the time....... both sleds are stock and my dad weighs about 25 pounds more then me and he beats me every time on an open lake and we are both simmilar in skill.........its a sad fact to face but the ski doo is defiantly faster stock.

i believe the 2010 800 Cat is stock. it comes from the factory with a Speedwerks type pipe and a 1000 can. thats why it sounds like that. Cat is claiming 162HP
