[1]The story of ST2:TWOK always irked me. It must have been written by someone who never watched TOS or only watched one episode "Space Seed" that the movie is based upon & he totally missed the point of the ending of that episode.
Kirk, even though Khan tried to kill him & everyone else abord Enterprise, obviously felt bad for Khan & his circumstance. Instead of taking Khan & his crew to the nearest Fedratn penal colony, he gave Khan a chance to start again on a planet to conquer as his own.
[2]Kirk even gave Lt. Marla McGivers who fell in love with and even committed mutiny helping Khan, a chance to either be court martialed or accompany Khan to Ceti Alpha 5, the planet Kirk would allow Khan to call as his own.
So really, Kirk and Khan left on good terms at the end of "Space Seed", not as enemies as shown in ST2:TWOK with Khan being filled with hate and revenge for Kirk. McCoy was even stunned when Kirk was pardoning Khan for his crimes as they sat at that conference table.
Well if things had turned out well for Khan on the planet, he might not have held such a grudge. But instead, the planet went nearly dead, and Khan never so much as got a quick check up to make sure that anyone was still alive. Years spent fighting for life on a barren planet can make you look for someone to blame.
True enough & I'm sure that THAT'S what the writer come up with for Khan's bitterness towards Kirk, especially the loss of his wife, McGivers. I understand that w/out this manufactured grudge for Khan, there would have been no story, at least how ST2:TWOK played out. It just bothers me that it's all a concoction w/out any basis on how "Space Seed" ended. Know what I mean? I mean if Khan was sent into a penal colony to rot, THEN I could see a real animosity & hatred towards Kirk growing in Khan.
Well when Ceti Alpha 6 spontaneously exploded Ceti Alpha 5 became barely inhabitable and Khan and his sidekicks had to use all their superhumanity just to survive, with no end in sight. That chipped away at Khan's sanity and he came to reevaluate Kirk, concluding that all his woes were because Kirk had exiled him--who couldn't be bothered to look in on him.
Well, it was hard to do that because Howard's not a big fan, and I don't think he followed the movie too well. I spent a good deal of time (off camera) just explaining backstory to him.
You would of been better reviewing this the best of the Star Trek films on your own. This guys a no nothing twat. But you really know your stuff. I credit you. Giz a kiss
I like how Dr. Phil is reviewing movies now, makes him a little less pious. Tuttleman took you to church though on a few points though, like Spock being a Gremlin and all.
Thank you for having me as a guest on your show. I had a great time. I did a lot of research after the show, and it turns out you were right all along. That was NOT a gremlin. I didn't mean to cause any trouble. You were right about a lot of other things you mentioned as well. I think the next movie you review should be Conan The Barbarian. I will be right most of the time if we have another debate-show like this one. Later.
you give star trek fans a bad name. go and review babylon 5 and stop spoiling the trek universe!!!

Yeah, that's always bugged me...I tried to say fictitious and fictional at the same time.

Good review but watching this I was thinking that Howard needs to be thrown off the back of a moving train.

It is a consolation for someone who lives the words look at our
Heart, the confidence of our secrets, we congratulate loyal friend
in prosperity, which sympathize with our concerns, we seek refuge
in our suffering.

It would have been nice if you'd talked about the movie a little more instead of going off on a tangent with Howard.

Their knowledge of the Original crew is crappy; these are the minds that brought us Enterprise.

You're claiming that MY knowledge of the original crew is crappy?
Son, I've FORGOTTEN more than you will ever know about TOS.
