Honda fan here. GSXR600 generally will have a more powerful motor than a 600RR. The 600RR's chassis is superior. Neither bikes are designed for straight line speed anyway.

My gixxer 6 k9 stomps my buddies 05 cbr 600 rr, usually about mid 3rd gear is when I leave him. However, things to consider are: 1.) His has 20k miles, mine has 4k. 2.) I'm a new rider (but it doesn't make much a difference... I know how to f'in accelerate -_-), and he's been riding for 6+ years.

CBR rider sucks... I romp many a GSXR on my CBR600rr... once i tok a GSXR 750, but im sure it had some issues cuz that doesn't physically make sense!

I have a 600rr and I really have to milk the clutch to get a good start. 600rr's need rpm to create power. But I have beaten 900's with a good start. CBR's are great little bikes. But I agree that riders make most of the difference on how fast a bike can be.

@Wiin768 are you talking stock? because a stock gsx-r 600 for the 04-05 years only makes 105hp tops in a low elevation cool air temp environment. the 750 of the same year is the one that makes close to 130 but comes up short with 127hp. 110hp for a stock 600 is usually the top.

honestly, I started out on a 250cc ninja and then went up to a 2007 Honda CBR600RR and Since I tok the time to learn how to ride a smaller less powerful bike, it helped me to become a better rider with my mid sized sport bike because I had the fundamentals of riding down pat. ya its kind of a slow bike, but the knowledge that you will get from it is priceless, dont listen to the people out there that will tell you get a bigger bike, cause not everyone can jump on one and then get it perfect.

you can always learn to ride. take a training course if your not confident...type of bike doesnt really matter, get whatever you want. if you want a crotch rocket then get one....just cuz you can go 0 to 60 in 2 sec and ride over 150mph doesnt mean you have to. if your not an idiot you will be fine. but if your not confident then you can get one of those 250s first

In tests the honda seems to dyno a couple of horsepower stonger and is about 2 tenths faster in the quarter all things being equal... course diferent riders make things un equal. Buy the brand you like cause if your a good rider you will beat a lesser rider regardless of which brand you ride.one the street you wont be able to take advantage of a .5 sec difference around a 2 mile road. course

All your comment says is that you're a Gixxer lover. I'm not saying that the Gixxer is a bad bike by any means, but between the two, the Honda comes out on top. With the 08 models the Honda puts out 105.45hp while the Gixxer puts out 104.23hp. The Honda also produces 46.08 ft-lbs of torque while the Suzuki produces 44.05 ft-lbs. And the Honda weighs about 20lbs less than the Gixxer.

i totally agree. i bought a cbr because it felt the most comfortable to me and had the handling and power curve that suited my riding style the best. and i liked the styling the best. but all the new bikes kick ass. screw the numbers, races are won by good riders not just who has the fastest bike. what would be the reason to race if numbers were the only factor! riding is like second nature after a while so i think its best to get the bike you "communicate" the best with. that makes it more fun
