paulianergrrr are youstupid??? learn first history... in Crete fought only 10.000 german paratroopers against 45.000 Allies soldiers. The partisans plaeyed only a small role in the actual battle. The Germans were suprised because the allies knew all informations about the operationm merkur. But the Germans fought brave and won the battle... I as a Greek recognize the heroism of the german paratroopers...... They are a example for all fighters of the world......

The Allies had the advandage of the suprise... Don't look at only one point. Look at the whole battle... The Germans were strong outumbered. The partisans did play a important role but don't overgeneralize the partisan only because of your subjektivity... Both sides fought with courage for what they thought was right..

There was many theories have been put forward analysing the operation and pointing the finger at certain units. Was the 82nd to blame for not securing Nijmegen early enough? Perhaps the British should have dropped closer to Arnhem? Why didnt XXX Corps press on to Arnhem after securing Nijmegen? There are many questions and the excuses are as plentiful as they are complex. But there is one explanation that seems to be missed or overlooked.

As for the Fallschirmjagers not taking Crete ask the British.

It was an equal fiasco for the Germans too. They took some awful casualties; mostly at the offset of the battle. Although the Allies failed to anticipate their objective (Maleme), the Fallschirmjäger overcame tremendous obstacles and setbacks to win an impressive allbeit a Pyrrhic victory.
