  • .............way too cool!

  • Fuck yes.

  • tight band w/ the man...coooollllll........too cool....

  • Bi-sexual marriage rights? Too much at this stage man!! ... ??

  • i'd love to see a Pistols cover of this, you can see how much he influenced punk

  • This is very sexy.

  • great fuckin band great fuked up out his mind singin' and performin' Mr. Reed gotta love it.....

  • great band

  • the best thing about this guy is his cool name!

  • Personally, I don't care what he was on then in terms of drugs: he's off it now, and it sure made for a good performance back then.

And also, I've nothing major against Metallica, but however great their fans say they are, they just don't have dance moves as awesome as this. No-one does. Lou's one up on them in that aspect...

  • Lou looks almost scary in a good way--I know he was taking drugs. but he looks toned and muscular--he must have been into some sort of fitness.

Nowadays, with fast food, you don't see a lot of guys with low body fat.

It's awesome if you can pull off Reeds look--but not many guys can.

By the way, I know he's put on weight since then.

  • "Vi-cious-UH!!!"

  • This is who metallica is working with.......wow.

  • @Slayer56160 the godfather of punk? Metallica are shit compared to Lou Reed and VU

  • @MetalMachineManiac Oops he is alive.

  • @rlevanony1 I knew as soon as I bad mouthed Metallica all the "satanists" come out making nonsesical idiotic commnets

  • @MetalMachineManiac Well you can't blame them. You are obviously biased towards Reed, look at your avatar.

  • @Slayer56160 a nice backing band

  • Lou Reed is my boyfriend... luv you Lou ....

  • I sincerely doubt that a dealer would have given a drug personally to Mr.Reed.A facilitator,perhaps?!...Afterall,he is in Paris..That usually surmounts to a backstage meeter and greeter, instructed by higher exec`s to `give Mr.Reed,`whatever he wants`.

  • "fuckin faggot"? does that mean a man making love to another one?!!! yummy, nothin wrong wit dat ! especially if it's with lou !

  • I'll have whatever his on here thank-you mr. drug dealer

  • "you are a waste of sperm and egg ."

The only sperm here is the jizz dripping out of your mouth.

"what a fucken chicken shit asshole you are ."

Haha, I've got to remember than line. Really? I've got bigger balls than you'll ever have you panty-wearing punk.

"go say that to a blackman's face i dare ya ."

Why should I do that? I don't go around looking for fights, not that I fear blacks. But if one asked me, I'd tell 'em that "rap is cRap."

    "fucken faggot"

    Wrong. That's your dept.

  • Escroc, .

  • la vrai musique est morte dommage, merci de faire nous fait revivre ces pure moment de rock'n roll!!!!!

  • "you want me to hit you with a guitar pick, but all I've gots a guitar stick"

'New York City never was, nor ever will be again, as cool as it was from the mid '70's to 1983. Lou Reed, The Ramones, Blondie, CBGB's (before it was a fad), the birth of rap.'

You were right going along just fine then you stepped off and fell right into the sewer by mentioning the "birth of rap" in the same sentence along with those bona fide artists and their musical genres. Rap is pure n*gger, non-musical cRAP! Always was, still IS, and always will be!

  • @Veritas699 you are a waste of sperm and egg . what a fucken chicken shit asshole you are . go say that to a blackman's face i dare ya . fucken faggot

  • @Veritas699 "Clan in the front, let your feet stomp" on this ignorant, racist, and, most likely, homophobic man's head.

  • @Veritas699 Agreed.

  • @Veritas699 hey man, nothing wrong with some decent rap, and this is coming from a white boy! Organized Konfusion, Public Enemy, Quasimoto, old Africa BamBaataa a lot of it is good.

  • I didn't know Duke Nukem could sing!

  • Great post!

  • A Paul Banks influence perhaps? ;)

  • voor jou bit bekend lou reed torhout seen apparte music bowie style, pause overbelaste brains ok dear via mn broer ontdekt x wat anders i like your daughter painted red of ben jy rood is mooi, irealyhatejezus account wat smerig respectloos voor anderen die wel geloven you hit me with your fuist

  • I don't like this funky version of such a great indie rock song...

  • @MoonchildMindaugas2 indie rock song? I call it a glam rock classic.

  • @MushroomCloud22 This is glam here, but not on the original album. Glam-rock I always associate with the likes of Slade or Sweet.

  • @MushroomCloud22 Sweet, Slade, Gary Glitter - that's glam. Here I hear a bit of future Strokes.

  • I bot speed from Lou. Keanu was there . . .

  • hey lou, see you at the grand rex in july :D!! can't wait!

  • I think it's Lou playing Iggy

  • Proto PUNK look very great!

  • Great moves, Lou! Fun times.

Anyone knows the name of the musicians?

  • I love Lou Reed and the Velvet, but this performance was pretty lifeless and crappy to my ears

  • @sayspain I feel the same way about it; there's definitely energy, but ends up being directed more towards being noisy (and not in a 'VU' fashion).

  • @sayspain I agree, lyrics are slurring all over the place

  • wanna buy some mandies, Lou....

  • this man should be

  • I love the rent boy heroin look!! ; )

  • Comment removed

  • more incredible youtube... totally bad ass!

  • His parents took him to a psychiatrist who zapped his brain using ECG because they thought him homosexual. Fucked-up his short-term memory.

  • Awesome rock and roll. I wish this entire concert was available on DVD. I have been to dozens of concerts, but hardly anything as hot as this one.

  • lou you are the best

  • Lou is waaay back in the pocket on the lyrics - he manages to pull it off though!

  • This is where the lead singer for the Stone Temple Pilots got his moves from.

  • @guitarconasor yeah, heroin

  • Just a Superb Performance

  • ouch--LR concerts around this time were really hit or miss, hell they still are---but this is a miss---too many narcotics---as a snapshot of the times this gets a 10+++ but if I was fan at this show...a big minus 1........you go to a show expecting hard edge R&R but you get plinky guitars and a lead singer strung out on something

Love Lou and the Velvets but this was a really bad time for him

  • wtf is this guy high on?

  • @slippp40 Everything.

  • Go Lou!!

  • more like iggy reed with those arms flailing. maybe they went to the same dance classes

  • nothing wrong with speed if it helps the guy peform, he is amazing. kieth richards was better when he was off his tits on fuckin heroin, those years of abuse were his best

  • @coxi666 ouai les plus grande stars du rock, blues, jazz ont tous ete sous l'influance du lsd, heroine, cocaine,l'inspiration etaient bien meilleur qu'aujourd'hui

  • @coxi666 big big difference between speed and dope. and it looks like we was on coke, not speed, if anything. For the record, im a huge stones fan and Keith was not better on dope, maybe a lil better preforming on coke during those days. but no one plays rock n roll god on smack, trust me.

  • @coxi666 Yeah, but look what Keith Richards looks like now--he looks like a walking corpse.

  • Lou the legend with what later became Alice Cooper's band.

  • @rm009z0858 Steve Hunter & Steve Hunter were not involved in this tour. In fact, they were already with Alice Cooper. A guy, less talented, named Danny Weiss took the job.

  • @zolque Cheers . I didn't know that. I presume you meant Steve Hunter and Steve Lukather. I think Lukather later joined Toto, I may be wrong.

  • @rm009z0858 Oops sorry ! I meant Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner of course...

  • @zolque Man I dont know about less talented, less famous for sure, but that is one funky white boy. Are we listening and watching the same clip?

  • At 2:55, hey I think I'll go get a drink. This speed is giving me cotton mouth.

  • i have the entire paris 74 set live, message me for a link to a free mp3 download concert. this isn't spam. rocking most funky versions of all the classics.

  • @JDurden33 Holy shit, please send me that

  • @cubyman23 links on your channel comments mate. also just to say to any suit-snoopers it isn't my upload i am just forwarding a link i found - you facist fuckers! viva rock n'roll!

  • @JDurden33 I don't think I received it.

  • @cubyman23 i will post the link up at 10.30, in england now it's 9.20 . . . :)

  • It wasn't speed it was smack, I know I sold it to him ....

  • I saw him do this in Liverpool at the Empire theatre, he sang it with a bunch of flowers in his hand and on the line, you hit me with a flower, he flung them into the crowd. Fucking great night!

  • damn i had no idea lou was such a good dancer!

  • @MrGrieves1000 Yes Lou can sure dance his ass off!

  • sounds like "livin after midnight" lol

  • WAS LOU BISEXUAL????

  • @jonno63 WHY DOES IT MATTER????

  • @jonno63 Lou was/is gay, he was cured by ECT apparently, gay, bi, who gives a fuck? He's happily married now, to a woman, I guess that's ok too.

  • @jonno63

    Yes. Yes, he is.

  • @jonno63

    no tri-sexual

  • @matteopinix lol

  • state of mind! in 74 was forever!

  • fucked off his head but still brilliant!

  • when lou was lou .....

  • apparently lou had a real disdain for speed.only on this one occasion, while vacationing in paris did he let his guard down....please lou,you should have known better...tut,tut

  • @wigglesworth6969

"apparently lou had a real disdain for"

    Uh, quite wrong bout that.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice.hello mr.LOJ.thank you for your reply and thank you for correcting me.you are obviously au faye with lou`s old fondness for substances,as am i.therefore,my statement must have been made in jest.tongue in cheek as it were.keep up the good work...

  • @wigglesworth6969

    "...keep up the good work."

Ahh, IC. Good to meet a fellow fan.

  • @wigglesworth6969 speed is a poo drug like ... theres a lot better drugs and i don't means alcohol or cigarettes

  • @jogga16 Yeah but sobriety requires a real set of balls!

  • @wigglesworth6969 nooo! lou used a lot of speed, meth, or others anfetamines..

and cocaine and eroine too. and every drougs he was taking, he put it in the veins.

in this year ('74) he was very very addicted and during the gravation of "sally can't dance" the others musicians help to put him in front of the microphone and let he try..

(sorry 4 my fu%# bad english)

  • @wigglesworth6969 i read in a biography that was his drug of choice for years thats why he was so thin

  • @wigglesworth6969 no...sorry Lou LOVED the speed..and the cocaine too

  • @wigglesworth6969 Actually he shot up speed quite a bit from the time he was working in The Factory until later on. He said he quit because he knew it would kill him.

  • @wigglesworth6969 Hey did speed for years...

  • He*

  • Lou Reed is my boyfriend !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm damn glad to have grown with this song

  • this is SO amazing !

  • A friend of mine showed me this the other day.

    I was mesmerized!

I'm a Velvets fan but I had never seen this before; he looks really unwell and skinny and coked up and this is seriously magnificent

  • if u dont like lou reed u must be dead

  • great back up band! Funky rock, good groove. I like the mutron guitar and clavinet stuff. Lou moves cool in it.

  • I can see why he is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is straight-forward, no compromise rock and roll.

  • the style is very nice

  • Mon soleil Lou reed depuis tant d'années superbe morceau

  • New York City never was, nor ever will be again, as cool as it was from the mid '70's to 1983. Lou Reed, The Ramones, Blondie, CBGB's (before it was a fad), the birth of rap. Damn, that must've been the best time in history to be a late teen or twenty something in NYC.

  • @recalcitrantdefiance It was. I went to see the Ramones at Bklyn College, and I grew up on this music, while everyone else was still into Led Zep. So I had trouble adjusting.

  • @recalcitrantdefiance New York SUCKED in the late 70's early 80's. Yeah there was a killer music scene, but believe me- you wouldn't have wanted to live there. It was filthy, crime-ridden and nasty.

  • @seanwinkel Patty Smith- "In the 70's New York was for artists& intellectuals; today it is for wealthy people and tourists". Yes New York like here in my hometown San Francisco, is now a theme Park. The Disneyification of New York, & San Francisco is the end result of hyper-consumerism. People wander around downtown San Francisco, and in Times Square like they are at Disneyworld! They are here to look at the sites, and the panoramic views..etc..etc..etc..

  • @recalcitrantdefiance actually the Velvet Underground was in the mid to late 60's to the mid 70's

  • @recalcitrantdefiance au contraire ....you are right about never was....but "will be again"? ...don't ever under estimate this place! Remember it was urban blight, white flight, and the bronx-is-burning while people pleaded for entry into studio 54 when the Ramones were birthed.

  • I am trying to find a Lou Reed solo album that had a photo of him seated at a table with a naked lightbulb and a bottle of night train, anyone remember this album?

  • I survived thank god I'm on coke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bruce R. Detorres Lou Reed is my boyfriend!!!!!!!! Steve Hunter on guitar!

  • he's way sexy, putting EVERY current musician to shame. they think they're hot? jesus. look at him!

  • Was Dick Wagner on guitar either Steve Hunter?

  • In 1974 if we listened to Lou Reed we were all on heroin.. and so was he. Luckily some of us survived it.. and so did he :-)

  • this version is ridiculously good, thanks for posting. lou is truely amazing!

  • Step on your hands and mangel your feet!

    Louuuuuuuuuuuuu.

  • is he on PCP?

  • It certainly looks like it.

  • No, he's on heroin................. I mean Brooklyn,NY. We're so so vicious. Bruce Detorres Bklyn ->Miami

  • purée mon Amour Lou reed

je t ecoute toujours et je tecouterai ce qui me reste à vivre

tu me fais trembler et pleurer comme patti smtih baiser

  • Olga, that is a beautiful statement. I feel the same about Lou Reed. Il me fait trembler aussi and he rocks my soul! je l'ecouterais toujours. Peut-etre qu'on puisse l'ecouter ensemble?

  • I've never been to Paris but my boyfriend has !!!!! Bruce Detorres

  • love this song!

  • mick?

  • lue looks identical to my older brother..pr i guess my brother looks like lue here.

  • i want a shirt like that

  • I am really starting to hate You Tube, but then I come across stuff like this! NICE!

  • His voice does NOT suck. I grew up listening to Lou, love him. Cool beat guy, very sexy.

  • Lou said in a recent interview that Andy Warhol inspired the lyrics of this song.

    Andy: "You gotta get vicious."

Lou: "What do you mean vicious?"

Andy: "Vicious, like I hit you with a flower."

  • @Deodanth23 WøW! that's deep, unless it's a rose, what's vicious about hitting someone with a flower ? probably a different kind of viciousness. Hit me with flour, now th▲t ,would be rude..

  • maybe, just maybe, the flower stands for marijuana, or opium flower...

  • @Deodanth23

he said, 'you should write a song called vicious' ;)

  • I want those specs.

  • Look at that sexy beast with badly dyed blonde hair...he could be vicious to me any time...ohhh yehhh...

  • pmsl!! oh hahahahahaahaha you are jesting!? hahahaah! uncooler than globel warming but I LOVE his singin!!! hahahaha !

  • Kick ass band in this shoe... love the Sweet Jane they do!

  • Sweet Jane, I think, is probably the most covered song in rock. I have 13 versions, which might even impress Jack. (He is a banker.)

  • the songs speak for themselves, his voice sucks so bad!

  • loooouuuuuuu.

i read somewhere that someone mistook people saying "lou" for "boo" at a concert. haha! brilliant.

  • thats also like "bruuuuce"

  • springsteen? ew. lol.

  • LOU'S SOOOOOO COOL!

  • I saw him on this tour - was near the front of the audience and it was scary - he always used to aggravate the boys at the back, which was okay for him because he had bodyguards but, not so great for people down front getting trampled on... The worst, a few years later, was "Kicks"

  • Top tune.

Swedish band Lolita Pop played a great version called "Elak" (which means "mean" or "nasty" in Swedish).

  • classic,i love his sunglasses,he looks great with them on.

  • transformer me voló la peluca.. pero verlo tan dureli me da una vergüencita ajena....

  • a mi tambien me volo la peluca y esta demasiado duro pero.. es genial igual

  • sdfghjkl;'#

  • he's musically gifted in his own right. making him wanted by many. < im one.

  • The unusual extraneous limb movements, stretching, stuttering utterances, and darting eyes, etc are indicative of some good speed in the system.
