I'm not sure how valid your statement about the planets aligning is but even if they did align then nothing will happen. The Mayans were great astrologers, lots of their myths are based on constellations and the solar system so it's no surprise they'd guess that when all the planets align the earth will be destroyed.

Please explain why it would create any problem as all the planets in a solar system line up probably every second seeing as there are billions of galaxies and thus an immeasurable amount of planets...

Oh and I highly doubt Einstein believed that it would cause disasters, he probably thought up, tested it then concluded it would do nothing.

First of all, if you were unaware, a polar shift takes place every 5,000 years, and it's of the magnetic poles, not the physical earth itself. Secondly, there is no galactic alignment with the center of the Milky Way, the Earth, and our Sun. The center of the the Milky Way, Sagittarius A, is 6° inclined to the orbital plane of the sun, and not to mention how that even further cancels out the possibility of an alignment due to the Earth being on the ecliptic. It doesn't happen.
