The water level was the lowest ive ever seen, so no rain water, just look at my video of the bore at maismore wier, to see how low the water was. There are so many factors that effect the bore. Just think the wind was blowing the wrong direction. Ive been 5 times now, and not seen a good bore up river. Try viewing down in the estuary.
Lol, i've never seen anything like it before, cos im not from round there, but we was watching from a pretty wide bit of the river, it's still a pretty amazing sight to see the water wash through like that. and yes very nice weather :)
Personally i have never seen the river as low as it is at the minute. Just watching it in the wrong place. Next time pick a bend and you will see the true bore. Nice weather though lol
Sorry you were disappointed......Too much fresh water (rain) in the river! Always suppreses the bore. If you go on an occasion when the river is lower with not so much water in it, the bore REALLY shows up!! ......Can be up to 9 ft high at the banks! (particularly if things are aided by a good strong south-westerly wind)
Yeh, Fiddleup, the problem for some areas was not ENOUGH water. the estuarial reaches were mostly rubbish, but it got better the closer it got to the weir at the end. Bristolsurfer was right, you were just at the wrong place this time. Unlucky.
Can not belive the boats flying through the bore, that did not help
