  • (At the skating rink)

    Me: Mama, skate with me!

Mama: Not right now sweetie, my hip ain't what it used to be.

    *Flashlight comes on*

Mama: MY JAM! *starts trucking on the skating rink)

    Me:.......

  • oh funk me!

  • "Flashlight" is a showcase for the legendary keyboard player Bernie Worrell. It's all synths played the master. His talent is so extraordinary it seems to me he really was and is "Light Years In Time, Ahead of His Time." I've loved many of Parliaments tunes, but none more than this one.

  • That bass line's made me pregnant - and I'm a man.

  • @ThePhoenix815 Me too, I 69 days in...you?

  • THIZ IZ SUM OLD SKOOL ISH MUTHA ZUCKA"S WE GGGANGSTAR BITCH

  • I'm 13 and I like to listen to Parliament, Pink Floyd, Status Quo, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Donny Hathaway, etc. It's so much better than what we have today.

  • @MsJazmineRose My daughter's 13 - I know she'll get this great shit eventually. She loves The Beatles and Floyd but for balance she's into Tool, Wonder, Michael, Zep & Jimi.

  • man your channels the shit man i was raised on old school im only 19 but this music never gets old foreal just too funky they dont make em like this anymore im glad you put such a great era of music all in one place keep up the good work

  • 4 all u funkaholics!!!!!!!

  • @IAM7DEMONS Yes, but it should read "4 all u fuckaholics!!!!!!" The FUNK is self-evident.

  • @seymourschmeltz I totally agree!!!!!!!

  • I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this song. It makes me dance automatically

  • They rocked this in Myrtle Beach for like 45 minutes, snuck into the VIP and danced and had the backup dancers pointin at me. It was EPIC!

  • this was my ganny shit and my papa songs when they was cme up blk in the day i was one of the kids tht kwn all of this songs com up 60;s

  • how can you not smile?? HA!!

  • The way I see it Parliament was this ongoing party that never left the studio. They'll sing about anything just to keep the party going. They knew how to groove.

  • @verriefunnie I agree!

  • flashlight

  • new to funk. this song is great

  • 8 people dislikes were looking on how to replace the batteries on their flashlights.

  • Im 27 and this be a jam, i know my classics!!!

  • 2 questions for the masses: 1) where did these groups go; and 2) how the freak did we let them leave? this is truly the canis majoris of the funk universe.

  • @Rabshakeh9

    You are so right!!!

  • sp/4 thillet ft riley, kansas i was crazy on these days good memories

  • This song (as ever other song from the 70s) would knock out every song that's on the Top 100 today and they wouldn't even break a sweat doing it.

  • The first time I heard this song was in HS. We (Muskegon Heights HS) in Michigan, were playing Flint NWestern. We were the NO 1# team in the state at that time. Flint had Trent Tucker, who later went pro and won an NBA Championship with Jordan and the Bulls. They beat us, nobody came to our gym and beat us in those days. They played this song. Bad night for us, but one of the baddest songs of all time!

  • @darryl65heights

Oh yes, we went on to win the state championship in 1978 & 1979 LOL

  • I drove 31/2 hours this summer to see them perform for free in Brooklyn. What an unbelievable concert and Bootsy Collins was there too. This group is still bad as hell til this day!!!

  • REAL TALK: This song defines what funk iz!!!! Younglings,,, If u want 2 create the next style of musik, this has 2 b your template!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah!!!!

gay frot penis music for dudes to pee into funnels to each others' highly orgasmic buttholes to when you put this song at FULL BLAST! as you put this song at FULL BLAST, the vibrating liquid on the funnel will boil subtly in such a way were you will get an intense orgasm in notime, seeing that Larry Craig could tap his foot in an airport bathroom for such a good time!

  • @victm00725 I am 42 this year! I still remember my mom and dad hostiing house parties at the house. they sent me and my bro to bed but I would stand at the top of the stairs and dance to this and all the other Parliament music until mom discovered that Iwas striving to get my dance on and make me go to bed! LOL! Parliament roccs!

  • @victm00725 I was 8 when this song came out. I used to make my baby sisters laugh when I danced to it.

  • @victm00725 I'm 50, I still have the original sheet music to Flashlight. I used to carry it around in my trumpet case along with "The Theme to Star Wars". Been cranking out the bass line on my Ibanez since 1978.

  • that music is great mannnnn, bring it back, wow

Thanks for posting this song. Always luv to hear it, get boppin. I cant think of any contemporary band/artist that has such a rich mix of infectious sound. Even on a bad day... this can modify ur mood up.

  • I HATE these little kids who come on here a comment about how they're young and listening to this music. NOBODY FUCKIN CARES ! You don't get any cool points.

  • @irapandshit808 Why hate? Would you rather they left a comment saying they prefer Lil Wayne? Personally I can't comprehend how you can have such negative thoughts about others while you're listening to this tune. You should probably stop listening to funk like this, its obviously wasted on you. Like Uncle George said "One Nation Under A Groove"... ;-)

  • george clinton lives outside of tallahassee. when my 16 y/o son was 2 or 3 we had gone to governor's square mall. we're wandering and my son yells out, 'look at that brown man's hair'. i look over and it is george clinton. i'm trying to get my son to be quiet, and george clinton looks over and says, 'what it is little brother?'. i always thought it was cute.

  • @tranurse Got to meet George a number of years ago. One of the coolest kats out there. Really friendly and funny, and very down to earth (oddly enough). I will admit, I was all kinds of fanboy-ing. LOL

  • Man this is one of my jams!! I wasn't born in this era, as I'm 32 yrs but I was raised on this type of music. So happy my Momma had good taste in music! : ))

  • Anyone who 'wasn't there' during this 'disco daze' music can never 'GET' what WE all mean when we get all excited when we hear these jams from that era. Needless to say, "....time of my life!" Agree?

  • @rudendedude9 you had to be there and it was a great way to meet people.

  • Fuck! I hit dislike by mistake....God forgive me for disrespecting P Funk...(forgive me for saying fuck earlier too...& just then)
