Papa Nome use to get so tired of waiting on a train he would repeat, Indianapolis POWER and light company, then INDIANAPOLIS power an light company, and about drove us coney until the train finally went through.
I used to come home late at night and before the lights and barracades went up it was a scarey place. Once I was almost on the track before I saw the lights. The angle at which the train arrives to cross the road it just enough that you can't see it until your up close. Someone was hit here and that finally got them to put up the warning stuff.
I have been trying to take a trip to Tulip for that purpose. I'll try to get around to it soon, probably around the start of spring. If I do videotape a train on the trestle, I'll post it here on Youtube.
Yeah, I think peole would enjoy a video of that. It's really hard to know when a trian will go through that area, but I think if you called INRR, they could tell you when and what time.
I love this video. Not to mention, the mechanical bells on the crossing rule, too! So much better than digital bells, although the digital/LED lights(or whatever lights they use on this crossing) that are used for this crossing are quite excellent, too(love how bright they are at night).
Those are the mechanical(normal) bells. Mechanical bells have that Ting ting ting sound while some electronic bells have that rowl rowl rowl rowl rowl sound, from what I see.
I have no idea if they are LED lights. Some crossing lights in Bloomington fade, others do not. The bells seem to be different, too. Sometimes, the bells even stop ringing after the engine crosses.
Weird. Signals with bells but no gates keep going, but some crossings with gates in that state have their bells turned off when the gates fully descend. You should see my Indiana crossing videos.
Its the same in New Jersey, gateless crossings have their bells ring through the whole process, but gated crossings stop ringing after the gates lower and begin ringing again when they go back up.

A train with 70 hoppers of all kinds is not long. I've seen trains with at least 150 of them.

they are about to fence in the trestle !!!!
AND
remove all the available parking !!!!!
too many vandals.
see it while you can
the hill you climb to get to the top of it is also going to be fenced in
i think if you called the INRR you you would be told to stay off the tracks and off INRR property

quit moving around so much!!!! above all the locomotives are completely blurred.....
highwaylunatic 4 years ago
I know they're blurred. Automatic focus and bright lights on a moving object at night will do that to ya.

Do you have any videos of trains going over the massive Tulip Trestle in Greene County? This is the same train line that goes over that trestle.

@highwaylunatic Not all cameras have good night vision, take the flip cameras for example they are horrible in the dark

That is a WCH mechanical bell. I know that for a fact. Most WCH mechanical bells have that kind of ring and tone here in Maine.

The whitish glow coming off of them is not natural; it is a combination of the dark environment and the heat of the lights that made the effect.

kool those lights look good in the dark

I noticed the bell was louder than normal ones. Were they normal or electric?
rolls283 4 years ago
I have no idea. They didn't have any sort of rythym like the others, so they're different in some way.

i have the same type of signals by me the cantilevers are a different design there skinnier and pointed but they have no gates

I'm from Indiana, but from Gary. Great video man! Are those LED lights on the signals? I aks because they don't fade when they turn off.
