What happened to the good old days when DJ's did just that? Today they just pop in pre-recorded sets. Please bring back the days when DJ's had control of what they wanted to play, not corporatized music.
@RichYan33 Lot of hardcore Queen fans HATE that song. It also was played to death. I don't think a single second of any day during the summer and fall of 1980 passed without some radio station playing the song. The hard rock fans didn't go for the funk/disco thing and thought Queen was selling out (like KISS did).
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy all of the WKRP episodes with the original music. Its my favourite show - I'm only sorry I didn't tape them when I had the chance. - the new version with the altered music just isn't the same.
@bradchaz I DJ'ed for a country station for 10 years and remember saying on-air about how I disliked a country artist. Needless to say, my boss let me hear about it later, and since I was music director at the time, I never played that artist again on my shift, although I let the other dj's play her.
It's sacrilege that the release of this great series on dvd could not have the original music. It ruins many of the scenes and jokes. Like this one, if you take out the queen song, the joke doesn't work.
@Champion1970 when i started watching some of these clips here, i was just thinking "i should buy these on dvd, theyre classic" - im glad i found out the original music is not included. it really does ruin it.
@Champion1970 well blame that on the artists who demand that their music be removed from the show. unless the production company payed outragous royalty fees.
you are right but bootleg dvd's have the full music. The first season is on DVD, and you can tell how old this clip is by the doors poster on the wall. What year...
@Champion1970 I agree 100%! Taking out the original music for the syndicated airings (later on in the 80's) was criminal! From the time it went off the air in 82 until around 1987, re-runs still had all the original music in them. Then toward the end of the 80's, some songs would be replaced with some studio band stuff, which really sucked because one particular scene I remember with Andy singing along with a Stones song and it was eventually replaced with a POS studio band song which was bad.
man, that is pretty fucking funny

@RichYan33 THIS SONG by Queen. Not Queen.

@RichYan33 Yeah, but hey - as much of a Queen fan as I am, I still grin at the delivery Hessman gives a fictional character's opinion. :)

@Champion1970 The one that really sucks is with "Johnny's baby". The entire episode on DVD is just not the same without the music he plays for it

Thats OK, they just cut down the episode anyway.
