  • Wonderful video, what is the music on it?

  • yeah ... we are just like a dot ... its so amazing ...

  • You forgot VY Canis Majoris, the biggest known star to date... Far larger then Antares.

  • fuck. we are SMALL compared to some of those things.

  • google images shouldn't be used like this

eh, i'll give a thumbs up

only because i'm glad you didn't use 009 sound system...

  • We're not even a fucking grain of salt.

    WE'RE SO BLOODY TINY.

  • MrCanuck

lol .. the only problem though is VY Canis Majoris is real unlike yer fake balls .. So can't add em here anyways ...

  • farm5.static.flickr.com/4138/4820647230_faba1c9f3b_o.jpg

  • wikipedia can be wrong

  • @NanduDas You know what? They are wrong about sizes of Betelgeuse and Antares.Betelgeuse is smaller than Antares,3.5 times smaller.

  • @Nugwrangler FOUND OUT from nixxxion18!!!

  • @Nugwrangler I mean nixxxon18,not nixxxion18.

  • @NanduDas Yes. That's why they don't let people in University use it. I learned that from Dad. I figrue I am smarter on Wikipedia!

  • Aldebaran is smaller than Rigel and Betelgeuse is bigger than Antares A.

  • @JOCKATEO o cock.....

  • Antares FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Betelgeuse is bigger than Antares. At least Wikipedia says that...who's right?

  • @KantoIkari Wikipedia is wrong. Betelgeuse is actually SMALLER than Antares - Betelgeuse 900x - Antares 1000x - 1400x

  • @Nugwrangler And what's the "X"? Sun size? Thanks for the info by the way!

  • @KantoIkari The "x" is the sign of "times".

  • @JOCKATEO

    You sound like a GAY

  • ._. wow...

  • I'd like to experience traveling faster then the speed of light :D

  • omg... if the earth is that small, and it takes almost a day to fly 360o around the world... i wouldnt want to be the guy who would fly around ''Antares''

well actually i would cause my horoscope is Scorpion so, yeah =p but then i would like to go at 10x lightspeed :D

  • You forgot the pistol star and canis majoris and the cepheis.

  • @angel20434 The Pistol Star should be placed 8 stars bigger than Antares, VY Cannis Majoris should be top star in comparison, and the Cepheis should be placed right next to VY Cannis Majoris after WOH G64 . Here's the Cepheis in order:

    1. RW Cephei 2. V354 Cephei 3. V534 Cephei 4.VV Cephei A 5. VV Cephei B 6. V Cephei 7.W Cephei 8. WW Cephei

    Thumb Up!

  • what part of 'rings on planets' don't you jackleheads understand?

  • This is a very interesting video for comparing the size of planets and stars. It is particulary good because it shows many elements at once. Some other videos compare them on a two-by-two basis, so you easily loose perspective of Earth size or even Sun size. It would be very apreciated if you could make a HD version of this video. 5-stars, congratulations.

  • This video is ill conceived. Everyone knows Capernicus was a misguided fool. The Earth is at the centre of the universe, as it was created by God, and is hence the largest thing in existence.

  • And you are FUCKING IDIOT

  • Comment removed

  • I like this.. the CG planets looked nice LOL.

  • God is a 'Hurensohn

  • you only missed about 10 larger stars!

  • I still think that Paris Hilton Could Stuff a Whole Galaxy into her Hole!

  • Lul monterey2am trolled u

  • thatyou Sir! I certainly did. Thak you for 'seeing'. Fiannly, someone that gets it.

  • it makes u think

  • No somos nada

  • Where's VY Canis Majoris

  • What about the other ones? The ones that detroy Antares, like VY Canis Majoris?

  • Actually recent evidence suggests that Betelguese is actually slightly larger than Antares

  • My BALLS should be on the end of this video.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. I love that comment! good on you. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • This person didn't put this video up for some jerk to say that their balls are bigger than Antares

  • very deep video and then this comment.:P

    MRCanuck <3

  • You like it deep don't you.

  • MrCanuck, I have just blocked you.

I don't welcome intellectual vacuums to parade their idiocy.

  • owned

  • @SecularAstronomer - Haha what a fucking toolbag you are.

  • @SecularAstronomer - No sense of humor whatsoever. Please go crawl under your rock.

  • "Haha what a fucking toolbag you are. No sense of humor whatsoever."

Lookaguru, you clearly haven't bothered to even look at the other videos on this channel, nor have you seen my interactions with others on their videos. If you had, you would know I have quite a large sense of humor. Nice rush to judgment, though.

I intended this video to inspire awe and inspiration, so I didn't appreciate such a crude comment.

  • "Please go crawl under your rock."

What do you even mean? Did you think this through? Even if I didn't have a sense of humor, how on earth does that indicate being withdrawn from the world?

It sounds like this was just a piece of mindless, reflexive drivel.

  • @SecularAstronomer - MrCanuck made a few funny remarks and got a few laughs, even thumbs up. You said you are blocking him.

My comments were not about the "other videos". It was about you blocking a user for whatever reason.

  • "MrCanuck made a few funny remarks and got a few laughs, even thumbs up. You said you are blocking him."

And I have given my reasons.

  • "My comments were not about the 'other videos'. It was about you blocking a user for whatever reason."

No, lookaguru, your comments were about my general capacity to appreciate humor—specifically, that I lacked any. The reason why other interactions of mine are directly relevant is because the whole of one's interactions are what determines aspects of their character, such as a full-blown lack of humor.

  • Instead, you made a general judgment of me based on one interaction, without knowing how representative it was.

  • You are the biggest FUCKING IDIOT

  • Monterey2am - please, stop teaching. You'd be doing mankind a favor.

  • The Sun is the biggest known object in the universe, but it is smaller than Jupiter, which is smaller than Earth. Wow you're just a smart mother fucker aren't you?

  • Moterey2am? You're a troll. Just get out.

  • LOL, how about finding a new job. Cuz for sure u must be too stupid to educate students :")

  • yer just kidding, right?

  • Please stop breathing

Your infecting those around you with stupid

  • j5s7hc - oh now come on you little tease, dont be like that. Not everyone can be a genius of both quantum mechanics AND general relativity. Only people from Tennessee like mine good self fit into that category. Everyone on my trailer park was into Astro Physics. You dig?

  • Someone's feeling mighty offended no? I HIGHLY doubt you're a genius in anything...seeing how you said "Everyone on my trailer park"...go back and re-type it if you want to try and "get back" at me...

like I said...please stop breathing..you're infecting us with stupid

  • How can the sun be the largest object in the universe, if Jupiter is bigger than the sun, and the Earth is bigger than Jupiter. Go read a book or something. (I am not assuming that the earth / sun is the biggest thing in the universe)

  • I hope you are satirizing, because if not you have been horribly misinformed. Jupiter has 1,300 times Earth's volume, and the sun has about 1,000 times Jupiter's volume.

  • My God, and you teach people?

  • You teach people...You can't even spell....STUPID people are a prerequisite to failure...Stupid people have no place amongst society....And you teach people? What to be stupid because that is the only knowledge you know....Only at the University of Gross Stupidity

  • why is everything upside down in all youtube today

    ????????????

  • April fools day..

  • Generally speaking, isn't our sun referred to as "Sol" in scientific circles, not as "Sun?" Just curious.

I think it's high time we name our sun, officially. It was alright to call it THE sun when we were a completely stupid species, but we've come a long way ... we're aware of other "suns" and that ours isn't THE sun .... so let's stop being provincial and name ours.

What does everyone think about that? (Needn't be Sol.)

  • Yea i think it should be sol

  • the sun is the name for our "star"!

  • lol @ anyone who doesn't know that

  • Wow...

  • your balls are big lol

  • yea...christmas balls :P

  • it goes EVEN BIGGER. watch the first two videos saved in my favourites in my profile if you're interested in seeing how big the largest star ever discovered sizes up... it dwarfs Antares

  • Mars is almost half the volume of the Earth, Venus is allitle smaller than the Earth.

Uranus is slightly larger than Neptune but they are both more than 4x the diameter and more than 70x the volume of the Earth.

Saturn is almost 10x the diameter and more than 850 times the volume of the Earth.

Jupiter is more than 11 times the diameter and more than 1,450 x the volume of the Earth.

The Sun is more than 109x the diameter and more than 1,340,000 x the volume of the Earth.

  • watch this video and you know how big w cephei is."From Mercury to W Cephei".w cephei is much bigger than antares.

  • well its called the mon

Our solar system and son are called Sol though.

  • Lol, Aldebaran is like 1/1 000 000 of the milky way's size

  • Actually, if the Milky Way fit into your computer screen, Antares would be 1/10,000,000th of a single pixel

  • and if the universe fit into your computer screen, milky way would be smaller than a pixel

  • this is freakishly enormous!!! Crazy!

  • where is vv cephei?it is biggest star

  • parkour is right - antaras is little fries compared to Deneb and cephei twins

  • Those are the spanish translations for sun and moon. GTFO moron.

  • i cant handle watching stuff like this. i start freaking out.

  • i know what you meen.....!!!!! lol

  • I've been messing around with galactic scales. For exaple...think of the sun as a sphere in the palm of your hand 109mm across. The earth is a sphere 1mm across, about 38feet away from the sun. The nearest star to the sun, Proxima Centauri, is a sphere 15.5 mm across and is 1934.57 miles away. At this distance light takes 4.2 years to reach Proxima Centauri. In the real universe, this distance equals 24.690 trillion miles.

  • ROFL!

  • This makes me feel, although being taller than most people where i live, rather insignificant in size...

  • Hold on, I stand corrected, VY Canis Majoris is the biggest star, being a hypergiant to Antares's supergiant. The rest is ok.

  • Don't be fooled. That other video is completely fake, this one has far better scale.

Here are some key scale facts (taken from wiki and Britannica)

    - Earth FITS in the Big Red spot on Jupiter (which is some kind of HUGE hurricane!)

    - Mars is somewhat bigger than 1/4 the Earth

    - Antares, is the largest known star (all that stuff about cephei is bull...

  • wow, I knew Jupiter was bigger than earth but THAT much bigger, phew...

However, no comparsion to the other stars outside our solar system.

    thx for upload!

  • im sorry, i cannot comprehend-

    malfunction-

  • Its ridiculous how big Antares is

  • saturn is the best

  • Mind blowing. I feel like an Ant.

  • hmm, closer to an atom

  • or an electron.....or perhaps a quark...LOL

  • wow that last star !

  • there is a much bigger one called W Cephei..

  • Mercury to Jupiter are planets not stars.

If VY Canis Majoris was located in our solar system when the Sun is positioned, then its surface would reach all the way out to the orbit of Saturn. Another way of saying this is that VY Canis Majoris is about 9 astronomical units (AUs) wide, nine times the distance between the Earth and the Sun

  • sorry forgot to include in my last comment Aldebaran. That comes up after Rigel, obviously. Sorry bout that folks =)

  • the order of known stars goes: Mercury, Mars, Venus, Earth, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Sirius, Pollux, Arcturus, Rigel, Beteigeuze, Antares, My Cephei, W Cephei. W Cephei is 288194 x the earths size! hope this helps =)

  • i saw a different video showing the scale of some planets and stars. W Cephei is insane. To describe just how large the KNOWN universe is would be impossible.

  • VY Canis Majoris > W Cephei > MY Cephei > Antares

  • Wrong, VY Canis Majoris, VV Cephei A, MU Cephei, VV Cephei B, V354 Cephei, KY Cygni, Pistol Star, Antares.

  • 100% no even if it was condemmed yes, theres gotta be an star thats bigger thats not discovered right i mean, the universe goes beyond our imaginations

  • is Antares the biggest star?

  • Can anyone get any audio for this video? I can't hear anything!

  • I think you're volume is turned off or you're spekers crashed when you were watching this video.

  • :O

    awesome

  • No, you're absolutely right.

    **ATTENTION ASTRONOMERS**

All our measurements are wrong. This person has pointed out something we overlooked: it's all too weird, and God probably wouldn't have made it like that.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will stop all our calculations immediately and have a rethink of the last few centuries.

  • Thank goodness Budguy68 pointed this out to us, to think astronomers had been wasting all that time, money and effort.

    Thanks Budguy68.

  • how could you possibly know what god wanted to and didn't want to make? oh wait you don't because you're retarded

  • i don't think god would have made someone as retarded as you, but that happened

  • wow, what a great thought. I think that you must be the next prophet! The Church of the Anti-Weird! Could you send me your autograph, oh wise one? Well too bad, because us REAL Christians don't believe in the written word.

  • ...so, I'm NOT the most important thing in the universe??

    Way to blow my ego!

    ha!

  • That, in a sense, is an oxymoron, as its ability to inspire awe is its use.

  • hahahaha very much true.

  • What, may I ask, is the ratio of Sol compared to Antares? Is it 1/100,000's or 1/100,000,000's?

    Just really curious.

Aw hell, I guess I could google it! :b

  • Hey what about MY Cephei, VV Cephei and ?? Canic Majoris???

  • wow

  • faltó vv cephei a

  • both cephei are missing, but the video is great and scares us...

just look at the sun!A sun fart can kill us like ants...

why dont we look up for the skies a little like the ancient just to find our place?

  • the grand "scheme" of things

  • this is great it gives you an idea of who we are in the whole sceam of things

  • yea, nothing

  • Antares looks like it could swallow our solar system

  • If those stars are that big, the planets of those stars has to be as big as our sun.

  • I doubt they have planets as we define them, because their gravity is so massive it just sucks anything close enough down into it's surface

  • Each object that has gravity would have an "event horizon" so to speak so you just have to think in scale. Eventually there's a certain distance that an object would orbit a star like Antares, since it's so huge, planets would have to be really far from it compared to the distance of our Sun's gravity affecting the outer limits of our solar system. Even stars orbit black holes. They're far enough that black holes don't suck them in and can have a stable orbit around it.

  • fuck. we were given the shittiest star

  • lol

  • yep. us Sun-ites have every reason to be jealous of the Antare-ians, lol.

  • no cuz antare has swallowed it's entire solar system

  • u guys gotta check out the vid 'VV Cephei' if u havent already...if this blew u away...ur in for it :)

  • its all done with mirrors.

  • my head is bigger... ;) i have always question my self is it the space and space i your head the same mater??? ...ah that philosophy... :)))

  • The same size as chuck norris' ego

  • I would love to get a high quality vid of this. It is truly awe inspiring.

  • stars of the lid?

  • ^ ^ _______ |_______|

  • Great

  • awesome

  • wrf???!!! the bigest star is the VY Canis Majoris

  • ya ur rite>:[

  • Truy awesome :)

  • that was funny

  • lol..........

  • it didnt show the biggest star in the whole universe

  • Bert Reynolds?

  • hahah no its chuck norris rofl

  • Unintelligible... Great post.

  • Didn't show My Cephei or VV Cephei. WAAAAAAY Bigger than Antares.

  • Pfft. Antares is a midget compared to W Cephei

  • still, VY Canis Majoris beats VV Cephei ^^

  • canis majoris>cephei

  • awsome, SO BIG! cant imagine :/

  • no somo nada

    jajaja

  • My penis seems small now. Imagine the size of aliens penises living on planets surrounding those big mamas...

  • lol...

  • it was a great video but antares is not the biggest star anymore, i believe now it is VY Canis Majoris for about 1.3 times bigger than antares.

  • Great video. I have a question.

Does a Solar System with a larger sun have a bigger or smaller aether for light to travel along?

Would that difference have an effect on that solar systems speed of light, sound and other constants?

If e=mc^2 could the biggest mass in a solar system preset a speed of light that is local to each solar system?

  • Just like the gravity of earth is different from... lets say the moon...

  • Great video.

    ~Unquestionable

  • Is someone else out there? How probable is it?

  • makes u feel so dang small doesnt it.....
