whats also cool is that the drummer you see in the video is Ronnie Tut, Elvis' former drummer. Enjoy Neil, I grew up listening to him in the 80's, and still do to this day!
Tonight I am enjoying some of the music Neil performed in London on Saturday 9 July 2011, I have Hot August Night double album from more years ago than I care to admit. I find it amazing and lovely that Neil can still belt them out as he did in the '60 and 70's. His voice is as powerful and emotive as it ever was.
Gawd, wow, I love this. I was at the original concert, all 4 years of me, my mom was a Diamond freak and I have inherited the trait. Great fucking night! Crack it Rosie, Good lord...!
why give it a thumbs down? That's the point of the video. To overdub 1972 to 2008. If you want the version of his 2008 singing, look for Hot August Night NYC on DVD, or other Glastonbury videos.
just so you know, i'm not a Minh fan. but i don't think you get the song. It's a list of people, good and bad, who died young and old and "wept when it was all done" as most of us will when we pass away for being "done too soon". It's not a song of praise for their works. Just a comment that everyone believes when they die that it is not their time. Sometimes a song is just a song. They are not all political statements.
He was SO HOT then and he is SO HOT NOW!!!! I fell in love with Neil Diamond over Cracklin rosie back in '69-give or take a year and now that I'm 50, I have a lot more likes-like David Cook but Neil Diamond will be forever
No, he is taking 'one more bite of the apple' and enjoying it much more this time around. Just as we who have enjoyed his music since the 70s are. For younger readers I will add that my neice (now in her 30s) was enthusing over a song some years ago......and was disgusted to be informed that Neil had written it decades before and that it was a cover version of Red, Red Wine by UB40.
I wanted to lay by this album in73 and it was $7.95 and minimum lay by was $10.00, I was a heartbroken 14 year old, but mum came to the rescue. Thank god for mums
This is the original version 1972, never the less the song is great , he has fans accross generations, I heard this album on an LP of my father when in 1979 when I was three, I still hear it ....Neil is great
OK I'm working from a 35 year old memory.. At the Greek the musicians walked on to the darkened stage and the music slowly came. No words. Just the music growing and building until Neil walked out onto the stage himself. And started to SING!! Damn what a night that was. Earthquake weather!
You mean you were actually at that show in '72? I was born in 72 and my dad played that album alot when I was growing up. God this brings back memories,,lol!
neils band isnt quite as rock based as it was in 72 the lead guitar then is replaced with saxaphones not thats there is anything wrong but this song screams for electricity, hot august night is in my top 5 live albums of all time
Dieser Song gehört in die schönste und lustigste Zeit meines Lebens. Mein Gott war ich unbeschwert und die Welt stand mir offen. Wünsche mich oft zurück...
Niel Diamond you're awesome! The best thing you ever did was to pick Stan Miller as your sound engineer. I'm from his hometown and grew up knowing that there was no better place than Stanal Sound on 2nd Ave and 39th. You took him from us, and we lost our sound man, but you two are a match that NO ONE ever has or ever will match.
He's the number1! I grew up listening to this man's music, down to my Mum. Eventually he came to the UK and we watched him together at Hallam Arena. 67 years old an he was brilliiant, made my mum's year, we sang every word to every song. I like Led Zep, AC/DC, Oasis, Thin Lizzy, but listening to this living legend wi me Mum topped it all!
I like this SO MUCH...1:32...weeeeeeeeeee....Hey school, you wannaSend me Home? Think I'm growing my own tea? Good LORD!! Who is the man who is out of touch? Can you relax? Can you relate?
hi! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee let's go! diamonds are a girls best friend! WOW LOVE THIS Look at those flags a flyin'! dadadeedeeedummm... I got A SONG on my mind!! It don't offend! Good LORD! Ready? Let me hear!!!!
con este albun,se dio a conocer mucho mas NEIL DIAMOND. se empesaron a escuchar sus canciones en la radio en esos hermosos tiempos, saludos desde TALCAHUANO, CHILE, a todos los fanaticos de este gran musico.
Ok...sorry for the confusion. It is the 1972 Crunchy Granola Suite music with video from 2008. They did a live concert. Nothing with Neil is ever lip synced.
Nice work! Great transition from 2008 to 1972. I have always wanted to find video from those 1972 Hot August Night concerts at the Greek...what a treasure that would be...!
The video part is 2008, the sound track switches (at 0:52) from the 2008 Glastonbury audio to the 1972 Hot August Night album performed at the Greek Theatre. From that point on, the video has been synchronized with the audio...
I can watch this over, and over, and over.......Always gives goosebumps!! Can't WAIT to see it performed LIVE in a few months!! You rock on Neil...keep going!
Just brilliant in my book, i have watched him since i came to the US......still is....he has a new one out, just waiting for my mail to arrive with it.
Now i live in Norway and thank you for UTube to catch up and still be part of my other country that i call my home after 50 years there......
whats also cool is that the drummer you see in the video is Ronnie Tut, Elvis' former drummer. Enjoy Neil, I grew up listening to him in the 80's, and still do to this day!
